Keep it together, Cat.

The wall that had been blocking her thoughts from being read was gone. There wasn't a trace of it left, and he could now read her like a book like he always had.

Safe, I'm safe, thank God.

She seemed to be trying to convince herself she was safe, and that she was worrying herself over nothing.

Paranoid much, Cat?

It's almost like being in a horror movie all on my own...

Because the King isn't with me.

Michalis mentally slammed the door shut on Catalina's thoughts. He had given her a chance to explain herself, but she had continuously refused to tell him the truth. She had left him no fucking choice but to get rid of her.

The pulsing between her legs was strangely quiet, its ability to release pheromones greatly diminished.

He let his mind wander to the other man next, and he couldn't help but stiffen when the stranger's thoughts appeared to be running on a frequency that was neither human nor preter.

The only thing he could decipher was a turbulent form of rage that was brewing closer and closer to the surface, and even with Michalis fully focused on decoding the man's thoughts, the way the stranger's rage exploded without warning still managed to catch him off guard.

"Hello, Cat."

The silent terror that immediately seized Catalina by the neck was all that Michalis needed to sense.

Fuck, fuck, fuck!

Something was clearly fucking wrong, and Michalis started running in full speed.

"Aren't you going to say hi?"

"You're not supposed to come near—-"

"Shut up! Why do you have to be such a fucking bitch to me all the time, Cat? I've always only wanted to love you. So why can't you just give me a fucking chance?"

"I couldn't figure it out before, but I get it now. I fucking—-"

The man's cry of pain had Michalis flinching because he knew.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Catalina might have managed to hurt the other man, but it would only make the latter retaliate, and Michalis would never fucking forgive himself -

Never, goddammit!

He would never fucking forgive himself if something were to happen to Catalina, and all because he had been too fucking cynical to be there for her without question.

"You fucking, fucking bitch!"

Catalina's cry of pain slashed at his heart, but with the train programmed to pick up speed, he knew, he goddamn knew there was a chance he might not be able to get to her on time.

"You know what your problem is?"

Catalina let out another cry, and the sound nearly shredded his soul.

"You don't know what's fucking good for you, and that's me! I'm the only one you need, but you chose to fucking ruin my life over a fucking cat! And now I know why! You fucking like animals - you like FUCKING animals over men!"

Glass shattered into pieces as Michalis finally managed to crashed inside the train.

"You fucking gave your filthy body to him, didn't you?"

Michalis' heart splintered anew as he gauged the distance between them.

It was too damn far.

Just too fucking far that he knew he might be too fucking far to get to Catalina in time.

I KNOW JULIUS INTENDS to kill me the moment he bares his fangs, and his gaze swings to my throat like it's a gift he needs to tear open. I know I'll never be too strong to fight him off, and I know that even though Michalis has come to save me—-

It's too late.

He's fast, but he's not that fast.

He's near, but he's not that near.

But even though I know death is a certainty, I still want to die fighting, and I'm prepared to die fighting just as Julius lunges towards me.

"Get away from me!"

It's stupid to scream the words, but I scream it anyway, and in the corner of my eye I see the King going berserk as he roars and tears the train apart in his desperation to reach my side.

It hurts to hear the agony in his roar and see the pain and regret etched over his features. It hurts to think of what could've been, and yet—-

Why am I still alive?

My fear-clouded gaze swerves up, and I see Julius staring at me with vicious hatred.

"Go away!"

And he actually starts running backwards like he's completely lost control of his limbs.

Michalis staggers into a stop at the sight, and I feel like I'm losing my mind because I don't understand what's happening.

Is this still real? Am I dreaming this? Am I already dead?

Julius looks as if he's fighting himself, and my heart still shrivels with terror when I see him manage a step towards me. Old habits die hard, and for so many years this monster has made me cower and shake every time I feel like someone is watching me.

He keeps destroying my life over and over again, and I just can't take it anymore.

"Get out of here," I cry out. "Go away and never come back!"
