“What do you think they’re here for? Junior didn’t hire them to come all this way to have tea, and from what I hear he hired some hard asses with very unsavory reps. If we hit these humps we better hit ‘em hard and make it count.”

“Fine, but we can’t kill them. You know what Law will say, besides his only interest is in avenging mom and dad, and sis.” It was still hard to think or even talk about our little sister. The shit that had been done to her still gives me nightmares.

I should’ve been home that night, and still bore the guilt for not being there. Law, in one of our late night chats of which there were many, convinced me that it was a good thing that I was spared. He said it had happened just the way it was supposed to, because I was meant to live. I try to believe that, but some days it was easier than others.

“Who are we taking?”

“Chaz, Trent and Diego. I don’t want too many involved because sure as shit somebody would talk and Law will put his foot in both our asses.”

“True.” He nodded his head as he chewed away on that damn twig he kept in the corner of his mouth. “Let’s get the boys and we’ll decide on a plan of action. The less noise we make the better, so whatever we come up with has got to be low key.”

“As long as it gets them away from here and my brother I pretty much don’t care how we do it. I have a few ideas but let’s get the boys together first.”

I sent outa few texts to the ones I wanted in on this. Chaz I know would be down for whatever, but Diego was a wildcard. He might not be too jazzed about going behind Law’s back, not unless I could convince him that this was in Law’s best interest.

***

In the end it was easier than I thought. Seems everyone was of the same mind, Law had enough on his plate. “So we’re doing this, the only thing now is how do we get off the compound without tipping him off?”

“That’s easy, set Dana Sue on his ass.” Travis joked. Everyone had a good laugh at that one. It was true that in the last few days since they’d been back from their little impromptu honeymoon, we’d all noticed a drastic change in Law.

He wasn’t wound as tight as usual. Not to say he wasn’t the same hard ass, but having her around seemed to be mellowing him out some. I was happy for him. I knew what having my girl around did for me. There were times I was convinced I wouldn’t have made it without her; days when I came close to eating my gun.

“I’m on it.” all I had to do was get Melissa to get Dana Sue into some shit that would send Law off the deep end. Nothing too harrowing, then again it didn’t take much for my brother to lose his shit where his young wife was concerned. But I remember his reaction to her being tipsy earlier and was hoping for the same this time.

Chapter 6

LAW

Some fuck is going on around here. I don’t know what, but I can always tell. I kept my eye on Brandon because he was the one with the latest drama. Who the fuck needed A&E with this bunch?

“Clay.” I caught him coming out of his room at the clubhouse, zipping up in the middle of the day. It was a wonder I ever got anything done around here what with all the screwing that went on around the place.

“Law?”

He had a stupid grin on his face and a scratch on his neck that I didn’t even wanna know about. “That wound had better be from Ginger Lee because I am not in the mood for one of your woman’s tantrums.”

“You and me both.” Just then she came hustling out of the room looking like she’d gone a round or two herself, and gave me a shy smile and a wave before heading out. Probably off to find the rest of her posse to get into more shit that didn’t have anything to do with them.

“What the hell are you asshats up to?” I didn’t have time to dwell on the women and their shit.

“Who, what?”

“Don’t give me that shit. I know you’ve heard about the humps that Junior hired from out of town, whatever the lot of you are planning forget it. Just make sure the parameters are straight and double the guard on the gate. Make sure no one gets in or out after the sun goes down. If they want to get at me they’re gonna have to come here and I don’t think they’re dumb enough to do that.”
