He was sent to kill me. Now he’ll kill anyone who tries to take me from him.
Roman Graves is a professional killer who never misses.
And apparently, I’m his first exception.

My dad owes the wrong man two million dollars, and I’m the price he’s supposed to pay.

Roman had me in his sights.
His finger on the trigger.
But he couldn’t do it.

Now the man who came to end my life is determined to save it—even if that means kidnapping me, hiding me away, and refusing to let me out of his sight. I should be terrified, but there’s just one problem.

Roman is exactly the kind of man I’ve spent years secretly fantasizing about.

Possessive. Dominant. And completely obsessed with me.
And the more he takes control, the harder it becomes to remember that I’m supposed to want to escape.

Because Roman Graves may have been hired to make me his victim…
But he’s decided I belong to him instead.

An over-the-top, human-written Instalove featuring age-gap, an obsessed and possessive alpha, virgin heroine, forced proximity, dangerous protector, praise/good-girl fantasy with no cheating, a heart-warming happily-ever-after, and epilogue!

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

ROMAN

My rifle is aimed at her window. My scope is sighted in.

I’m in an empty building across the street, lying prone on a plywood table, the barrel of my Remington 700 resting on a sandbag that will absorb any recoil. The lights around me are out. No cameras outside. I did my research and showed up early.

You have to prepare if you want to be successful in a job like this and not end up dead or in prison for the rest of your life.

I’m a bad man. A hitman who’s killed men for hundreds of thousands of dollars or sometimes even just hundreds of dollars. Tonight, I’m being paid ten grand to kill a nineteen-year-old girl because her dad owes my boss money. Two million bucks, to be exact.

A blurry photo of her sits beside me. Annie Mercer, receptionist at an art studio. That’s all I know. Anything more would humanize her. But to me, she’s not a human. She’s just another target. Just another job.

Her dad, Chuck Mercer, burned through the money my boss leant him and then disappeared. Must be an idiot to cross Jimmy the loan shark. Surely he had to know the consequences.

“If Mercer wants to disappear, I’ll give him something to come home for.”

An hour later, I had an address and a photo, and half my fee was in my overseas account.

I didn’t ask questions. In this business, questions get you killed. I don’t ask, I don’t hesitate. I just do my job. And that’s why I’m alive today.

My breath is steady, controlled. My heart rate is low. Something else that’s absolutely necessary in this line of work is patience. You must be willing to wait for that exact moment, the precise instant where you squeeze the trigger.

From my research, I know that Annie finishes her shift at the studio at seven. From there, she stops for a coffee and a blueberry muffin, then generally makes it home by seven-thirty. Today, she was three minutes early. I watched her pull up in her green Camry. She stepped out, covered by a red raincoat, and raced into her building.

But it’s been twenty minutes now, and her bedroom is still empty. Like I said, patience.

I move my eye from the glass for a second to stretch my neck, and just like that, Annie finally enters the room. It’s go time.

Target acquired. Safety off.

I bring my eye back to the scope. My index finger slides gently over the trigger, just as it has countless times. This is it. The end of her life and the rest of my money. I take a deep breath, hold…

But then, something unexpected happens.

Annie turns, and her face comes into view. Seeing her at this magnification—it’s like she’s standing right in front of me. And she’s stunning. Glowing with natural beauty and scorchingly sexy at the same time. A thousand times more beautiful than the blurry photo Jimmy provided.

She turns on her bedside lamp, giving me an even better view of her. Wet hair from a shower, bare, slim legs, an oversized T-shirt, and a tiny pair of cream-colored panties. I don’t care about women. I can’t afford attachments in my line of work. But as I move my crosshair over her center mass, an unfamiliar feeling invades my mind.

Her tits are almost too big for her body, causing her shirt to hang loosely off their teardrop curves. Her lips are perfectly plump, a nice soft pink. She looks like a sexy, innocent angel that was sent specifically to fuck up my job. She has no idea that there’s a brutal killer watching through her window.

Slowly, I let my breath out. I’m not here to get an eyeful of a half-naked girl. I’m here to do a job.

My fiancé cheated on me with his father’s girlfriend.
So I did the one thing he never saw coming.
I fell for his father.

Robert Reed is twice my age.
A billionaire.
Powerful, possessive, and dangerously protective.

Hours after I catch his son betraying me, Robert takes me away from everything and brings me home to his penthouse.
And for the first time in my life, I know what it feels like to be truly wanted.

The way Robert looks at me makes my heart race.
The way he calls me his angel makes me melt.
And when he tells me he’s wanted me from the moment he first saw me, staying away becomes impossible.
There’s only one problem.

I’m supposed to marry his son. And my ex desperately needs that wedding to happen if he wants his inheritance.
He wants his money.
I want revenge.

And Robert?
He just wants me

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

KATIE

“I can’t believe you’re getting married before I am.”

“Gee, thanks, Deena.” I snort, making a face back at my friend. She’s twisting a lock of her blond hair around her index finger, something she always does when she has more to say.

I glance at her across an enormous table that’s completely covered with printouts of floral arrangement ideas, place settings, bridesmaid gowns, and countless other things. Who knew planning a wedding was such a major event? But this room I’ve been assigned at Kyle’s house—Kyle’s mansion, has been completely taken over with pamphlets, printouts, samples. It’s like a bridal tornado hit.

“I didn’t mean it that way,” she says, trying to hide the disappointment in her voice, but I hear it. I know her too well. “Just…when is someone gonna ask me?”

I can’t believe she’s even remotely upset. Deena has always been more popular with the guys than I have. She’s the girl that’s hot and sexy and everyone wants to be around, and I’m the awkward one that can’t make conversation and needs a crowbar to get out of the house.

“You do realize this is basically a Game of Thrones wedding, right?” I ask, raising an eyebrow. “I’m marrying Kyle because our families want us to. Because it will ‘solidify our business interests.’”

Deena shrugs. “Could be worse, though. He is super sexy…”

I scoff, tearing up a printout of the ugliest dresses I’ve ever seen in my life. “I don’t think he even knows my birthday.”

Deena rolls her eyes and nods. “You expect too much out of men.”

“Well, that’s encouraging.” Sighing, I slump back in a chair and chug down half of my iced tea—a black tea with peach. All this planning is driving me insane.

I don’t even know why I’m going along with this. I want to help my dad out, and according to him, marrying Kyle Reed will scale his business up by millions. But deep down, I feel like I’m just giving up. Like I’ve suddenly become a prize mare rather than an adult woman who can make her own decisions.

“My whole life, I’ve always wanted to meet the one,” I muse, more to myself than to Deena. “That guy who makes your heart blossom and your chest hot and your whole body tingle.”

“Wow! What are you, a romance novel writer?”

I sigh again, deeper this time. “But I’m eighteen years old now, and I haven’t even met a guy who makes me feel a tiny bit nervous.”

Deena shakes her head and comes over beside me. “Ignore all that movie fantasy crap. That’s all it is.”

I drop my hands into my lap and tuck my head forward. I love Deena, but it feels like she’s painting the rest of my life black and taking out any possible color there once was.

“You know what will be fun?” she asks, raising an eyebrow. “Having Kyle take you to pound town.”

I almost choke on my tea. “Pound town? You did not just say that.”

“Katie-babes, I know you’re eighteen and still have yet to let a guy touch your hoo-ha. But it’s fun! Believe me!”

“I believe you,” I reply. “But I want it to be with someone I actually care about. And cares about me.”

“Yeah, and I want a Birkin bag.”

I launch to my feet. My chest is hot, and my whole body feels heavy. “Oh, a decent guy is as rare as a luxury designer bag?”

I glance down at all the wedding planning stuff, and a wave of nausea comes over me. In six days, I’ll be marrying a guy I don’t know and don’t like, and I’m sitting here thinking about the possibility of true love.

Tears begin to well up in my eyes. The last thing I want right now is to let Deena see me cry, so I grab my glass and head for the door.

“I’m gonna get some more tea.”

I’m already starting to cry as I step out the door. I need to be alone for a few minutes. Then I can come back and dive back into the insanity of planning a wedding to a man I apparently shouldn’t even care about.

My heartbeats feel like punches as I descend the stairs. My brain is spinning like a tornado. Finding a thought is nearly impossible.

Is it really that much to ask to meet a guy who actually likes you? And who you actually like?

A strange sound tickles my ear as I reach the bottom of the stairs—a woman laughing. But how could it be? Deena’s upstairs, the cleaning staff is gone for the day, and Kyle’s mom moved out and left his dad years ago.

I pause and listen.

Yep. Definitely a woman laughing, and the sound is coming from the closed bathroom just a few feet away.

Slowly, I creep across the marble floor to the enormous oak door. The giggles grow louder, along with a rhythmic pulsing sound that I can feel in my feet.

“I am not going to get paid to sleep with a guy—”

“Whoa, who said anything about sleeping with him?” she protests, shifting around so she’s right in front of me. I twist my lips and look back at my brush, doing my best to ignore her. “You’re just there to be good company. Arm candy. His companion for the night.”

I frown up at her. “Okay, first of all, isn’t companion just code for hanky-panky—?”

“Hanky-panky?” She bursts out laughing. “Are you my grandma or something?”

“And second of all, no man wants me as arm candy.”

Trish leans in, grabs me by the shoulders, and starts to shake me. “Girl, when are you going to learn that if you actually just put a tiny bit of effort into your appearance, you’d have men all over you?”

I scoff and pull away from her. I appreciate Trish always saying things to inspire me, but our relationship is clear: She’s the hot one. The rich one. And I’m the awkward broke one. I live in a tiny studio apartment with a bathroom I can’t even stretch my arms out in and have to use a hot plate to cook on because there isn’t even a kitchen.

Late at night, I have to put in ear plugs to sleep because my landlord blasts Ted Nugent past our designated quiet hours. He’s also made more than a few comments to me that could be considered…flirtatious at best and harassment at worst. But he drinks so much it wouldn’t surprise me to see him hitting on a tree.

“I don’t know why you don’t believe me,” she goes on. “A little makeup, some actual decent clothes, and maybe do your hair once in a while?”

“Well, excuse me if I’m saving all my money for instant ramen so I don’t starve to death,” I reply, sticking my tongue out. She gives me that commiserating look back and drops it.

We’re both eighteen now but have been friends since we were ten. Dad left when I was thirteen, and Mom got remarried—to the bottle. I moved out as soon as possible to get away from the string of scumbags coming in and out of the trailer. I got a job as a waitress, but my hours have been cut so drastically that I’m now two months behind on rent. If I don’t figure something out quickly, I’m going to be out on the streets.

“I actually need your help tonight, Megs,” Trish says. “I kinda…double-booked.”

“Double-booked? You’re kidding me!” I can’t help but laugh. “So you have two dates tonight, and you want me to cover one?”

She giggles like a kid who’s been caught sneaking an extra brownie from her mom’s freshly baked stash. She shrugs. “What can I say?”

Trish has found a ridiculously lucrative way of making money. Basically, she finds wealthy men on dating sites and gets them to take her out on dates and buy her things. She milks them for as much money as she can, and when they want to get serious, she makes up some excuse as to why she can’t be in a relationship right now.

I could never do it, but hey, as Jay-Z said and Trish loves repeating: Can’t knock the hustle.

“There is no way,” I reply, mixing some green for the tree I’m working on. “You really think one of these rich guys is going to be happy seeing me when he’s expecting you?”

“First of all, you need to stop being so self-deprecating,” Trish says, scolding me like a teacher. “Second of all, he doesn’t know what I look like.”

“What?” I ask. “Didn’t you meet him on an app?”

She fidgets awkwardly, trying not to laugh. “He’s only seen me from here”—she holds her hand flat just below her lip line—“down…if you know what I mean.”
Avery is speeding up a mountain, running from the gangster her own father sold her to, when a blizzard runs her off the road. Expecting to freeze to death in the wreckage, she instead finds herself staring up at Rourke, a hulking, tattooed ex-CIA operative twice her age. He drags her out of the snow and carries her back to his hideaway. What happens next is something neither of them expected, and neither can walk away from.

But Rourke has secrets—secrets that could get them both killed. And the deadly past he’s been hiding from has everything to do with the man Avery is running from. And she’s about to find out exactly what happens when a good girl falls for the most dangerous man on the mountain.

A high-heat, human-written, mountain man instalove featuring a ruggedly hot alpha, age gap, stuck together, an innocent heroine, savior hero, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA with epilogue

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

AVERY

Ice, hail, and wind that threatens to blow my car over.

Even with the windows up and the heat on max, the windows are freezing up, and my body is turning to ice. Why, oh why, did this storm have to happen today?

“Goddamn you!” I scream, pounding the steering wheel. “Fuck you, Dad!”

I know he can’t hear me. I’m miles away from his house now. But I can’t keep the words back. I mean, what kind of father sells his daughter to a gangster to pay off his gambling debts?

“Rot in hell, scumbag.”

This is not how today was supposed to go. I had a nice night planned for myself. A new cozy mystery with a nice mug of tea and the entire evening to myself. Then the news came.

I’m sorry, honey, but I’ve got no choice. That’s what he told me. The audacity. No other choice? How about, uh, going and working off your debt? Or maybe not being such a degenerate in the first place? I really hope we can still maintain some kind of relationship. I do love you.

Yeah, I’m going to maintain a relationship with my father who sold me off like a dressage horse.

I smiled, nodded, and listened as he told me that Damon Vale’s men would be coming in a half hour to pick me up and take me away. Then, when he went back downstairs to drown his own personal sorrows in a bottle of scotch, I grabbed his car keys, stole his car, and headed up the mountain.

No storm’s going to stop me.

I grab my scraper again, and keeping one hand on the wheel, go to work on the ice that’s building up on the inside of the windshield. It works for shit. The glass is curved, and so is the scraper, so all I end up with are streaks that I can barely see out of.

Suddenly, my wheels slip and the car starts sliding. I choke out a gasp as I grab the wheel, hold it straight, and let off the gas. Just like they taught me in driver’s ed. And like they said, the car stops sliding just before I pitch off the side of the road and over the edge of the cliff.

“Wow, okay. That was close.”

My heart’s going a mile a minute, which is how fast I’d like to be going right now. Away from my dad’s house, away from Damon Vale, and out of this godforsaken storm.

My fingers are so cold I can barely feel them. I didn’t have time to grab a pair of gloves when I ran out of the house. In fact, I didn’t have time to grab anything. I’m wearing a pair of flats, some skinny jeans, a T-shirt, and my faux-leather jacket, which is absolutely not qualified for winter.

You’re not going to freeze to death, I tell myself sternly. You’re going to start a new life. Somehow…

As I round the next turn, there’s a brown flicker through the glass. In the space of a heartbeat, I realize I’m about to run over a baby deer. Panic takes over, and I yank the wheel to the right just as it jumps in the opposite direction.

The car spins and slides right toward the snow bank. What happened to my cool, calm, and collected driving habits?

I scream a death rattle as I hurtle toward a massive tree protruding from the ice. I yank the steering wheel hard the other way, but it’s no use. The impact nearly takes my head off.

My nose slams into the steering wheel, and I hear the windshield shatter. Glass rains down on me, followed by a torrent of hail and snow. I groan as my vision darkens. There’s a sting on my shoulder, and I feel something hot and wet dripping down on my leg. Opening my eyes, I manage to peer through the blur and see blood.

“No, not like this…”

Somehow, I manage to get out of the seatbelt. The driver’s side door is missing, and I spill out onto the frozen ground.

I have to get away, I tell myself, forcing myself to my feet. I won’t be sold. I won’t.

My head is spinning, and my mind goes to the miserable excuse of a life I’m leaving behind. If I die now, no one’s going to miss me. Not my mother who abandoned me at thirteen, not my dad who just tried to sell me off. I don’t have a boyfriend. I’ve never had one.

I’m twenty years old, I’m leaving behind no friends and no family, and I’m going to freeze to death on the side of the road without ever having known a man’s touch.

Like a tragic poem, I think sadly as I fight my way through the snow, larger and larger chunks of hail beating against me like marbles.

I gasp for breath, and the cold air burns my lungs. My right foot slips, and I plunge into the snow. I try to get up, but I can’t. It’s too cold, my muscles are frozen, and I’m losing blood.
Hazel is three months behind on rent when she fires off a desperate application to Blackwood Capital hedge fund. Ten minutes later, she’s hired. Shocked and desperate, she doesn’t bother reading the contract or the NDA. She just signs.
Her new boss, Dominic Blackwood, is a billionaire with a chiseled jaw and poise like a king.

When the glass on his office goes dark and Hazel sees what she actually agreed to, she should run. But then her life would fall apart. And Dominic has a secret. The job, the contract, the instant hire—none of it was an accident. And Hazel? She’s about to find out what happens when the most powerful man in the city builds a trap for the girl no man ever noticed.

A high-heat, human-written, billionaire instalove romance featuring a brutally hot alpha, age gap, secret romance, an innocent heroine, possessive hero, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA with epilogue

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

HAZEL

“So you think you’re qualified to work at a hedge fund?” Cassi’s smile looks like it’s about to drop off as she watches me fill out the online application.

I shrug, attaching my pathetic resume to the e-mail. She’s got a point. But as a girl who is three months behind on her rent, lost her barista job last week because the coffee shop closed, and whose resume is as blank and barren as the Sahara Desert, I’m taking the shotgun approach to finding work: Aim at everything, and eventually, something’s gotta stick.

“Hey, not all of us can make five hundred a night serving drinks, okay?”

Cassi does that disapproving thing she does with her lips when I say something she doesn’t agree with. “Girl, what do I keep telling you? If you’d just come out of your shell a little bit, guys will just give you their money!”

I give her the counter-smirk I always give back, sticking out my tongue. As best friends, we can often communicate without words.

“Easy for you to say.” And it really is. Cassi has the confidence of a WNBA player. She’s the girl who all the guys liked in high school, who dated the most popular jocks, and who can wake up after an all-nighter looking ready for the catwalk.

I, on the other hand, am a solitudinarian—that’s a big word I just learned online last night. I seek solitude. I’m much more comfortable at home in a pair of pajamas with a good book than I am at the bar in a tight dress and heels, about to break my ankles with the slightest misstep.

As I’m furiously sending out my lacking resume to anyone and everyone, Cassi is just chillin’, getting ready for a brunch date with a hunk she met at work a few days ago.

“Hazel, I think you don’t give yourself enough credit,” she says as she brushes the blush onto her cheeks. “You’re a sexy girl.”

“Oh my God, stop!” My face instantly goes redder than hers.

“You are,” she protests. “You just don’t have any self-confidence, so you end up being…you know…”

I know what she’s going to say, so I just finish it for her. “Forgettable?”

This time, she twists her lips in that way that indicates she feels bad for me. “Well, what guy’s going to remember a girl who totally ignores him and looks the other way when he talks to her?”

“I don’t do that!”

“Oh, you so do,” she laughs. “That guy at work the other day—when you came to pick me up—he asked me if you ‘liked girls.’”

“He did not!”

Laughing, Cassi nods. “Yup. He said you basically ignored him when he was trying to ‘rizz you up.’”

Making my ick-face, I shake my head. “Well, maybe if he didn’t say things like ‘rizz you up,’ I would have talked to him!”

Again, Cassi laughs. “Bros will be bros. Your problem is your standards.”

“My standards? What’s wrong with my standards?”

For some reason, I’m feeling slightly persecuted. So what if I’ve never had a boyfriend? I’m waiting for the right guy!

“They’re astronomical!” she replies. “It’s like you’re waiting for Brad Pitt in his prime to come back and swoop you off your feet.”

Finalizing the application, I scroll to the send button.

“I don’t need Brad Pitt. Just the right guy.”

“Oh, like him?” Cassi leans over my shoulder and points to the screen, exactly to the spot I was hoping she wouldn’t notice.

The headshot of Dominic Blackwood, CEO of Blackwood Capital, the hedge fund I’ve just submitted my resume to.

“Holy crap, he’s gorgeous. Hazel, tell me you’re not applying here because the CEO is a ten.”

I don’t answer.

I can’t because something is happening to me.

It’s in his eyes, I think. Dark and steady and fixed straight ahead, like the photographer caught him deciding whether or not this was worth his time. High cheekbones. A hard, clean jaw with a shadow of stubble. A mouth that doesn’t smile for the camera because it doesn’t have to.

He looks rich and bored and also faintly dangerous, like the kind of man that could pick you out of a crowd, decide he wants you, and just take you home and eat you up because he was hungry.

And low in my belly, somewhere deep I’ve never paid much attention to, something tightens.

Wow. Oh, okay. That’s new.

Is this a kink I have that I didn’t even know about until now? Dangerous-looking men?

I’m blushing even harder than her makeup now.

I shift on the couch, my thighs pressing together without even asking. Heat crawls up my throat—a heat so hot even ice water couldn’t cool it.

This is absurd. It’s just a photograph. A man like that has women like Cassi orbiting him in mini-skirts every day of his life. And even then, he probably doesn’t even bother to learn their names.

He would never learn mine.

Men don’t see you, Hazel. They look right through you.

Jessie Carter has always been the perfect student. Top of her pre-med class and completely focused on her career. Romance has never fit into the plan.
Then she meets Professor August Holt.
Brilliant and intense, the former heart surgeon sees straight through her carefully controlled exterior. What begins as extra help after class quickly turns into stolen evenings in his office, undeniable chemistry, and a connection Jessie never expected.
But when rumors begin spreading through the department and a colleague with a personal grudge threatens August’s career, Jessie must decide if protecting her future is worth walking away from the only man who’s ever truly seen her.

A steamy, human-written, over-the-top age-gap romance featuring a possessive professor, an innocent student, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily ever after

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

JESSIE

I know three things for certain about myself.

One: I am going to be a doctor someday and have the best color-coded notes that I write out by hand.

Two: I make the world’s best carrot cake muffins from scratch. There’s no recipe, just the memories of my grandmother when she showed me how to make them when I was seven. I never forget anything anyone has ever bothered to teach me.

Three: I have no clue what my friends are shrieking about right now.

“Jessie!” Becca is gawking at me like I just told her I’m an alien from Planet Washkatarian. “You’ve got to be joking. Say that again.”

“I…I’ve never used one,” I reply, my cheeks heating up as I look down at the object in her hand. It’s pink and shaped like an architecturally designed zucchini. I look back at her frowning face. “Is that bad?”

Everyone goes quiet.

And not just the regular pause-in-the-conversation quiet. The kind of quiet that falls over a crowd when some drunk person at a wedding just said something completely inappropriate.

Becca, Dani, and Lourdes are staring at me with their jaws on the floor. The overly-sexy techno song blaring from the Bluetooth speaker seems suddenly extremely loud and inappropriate for the gravity of this moment.

We’re having a girls’ night out. It was Dani’s idea, which means there’s Boba tea and wine that she stole from her older sister. We’re sitting on the floor in a pile of blankets. It’s the kind of night I usually love because I love Boba, and I love my friends. I’m eighteen, so I shouldn’t technically be drinking, but it’s Friday, and school’s just started. No exams in the near future.

“Jessie,” Lourdes says very slowly, the way you talk to someone who has just told their family they think the Earth is flat. “Do you…know what this is?”

In a desperate attempt to save face, I shrug. “It’s a personal massager.” That is technically correct. It said that on the packaging when Becca pulled it out of the box.

More silence.

“A personal…” Dani laughs, unable to finish the sentence. She flops over sideways onto the couch, one hand pressed against her chest like she’s having a heart attack. “Oh my God. There’s no way.”

“Be nice!” Becca scolds her.

“What?” I ask. “What did I say?!”

Becca scoots closer and takes a seat on the coffee table, looking down at me the way moms do when they’re ready to have a serious conversation. She sets the pink zucchini-like object beside her.

“Jessie,” she says slowly. “Sweetie, I need you to tell me something. And I need you to be completely honest with me.”

“Sure, Becks.” I smile awkwardly. “I’m almost always honest with you.”

She takes a deep breath, then glances at the other girls and back at me. “Have you ever…” She pauses, blinks, and restarts. “Have you ever…explored…your…body…?”

She looks to Lourdes for help. She jumps right in. “Have you ever had an orgasm!?” she blurts out. Lourdes is from Miami and has no patience.

My eyes go wide at her question. I think genuinely and watch as Dani sits up from her couch collapse and looks at me with an expression that could only be described as grief.

“I mean—I know what one is,” I reply finally. “But I don’t think I’ve ever had one. I’d know it if I did, right?”

“Yes,” all three of them say at the exact same time. Embarrassed, I pull my blanket up a little.

“Oh. Then no.”

Dani slams her face into a throw pillow and lets out a long scream of terrible anguish. Lourdes hops up, grabs her hair, and starts pacing the length of the room like a lawyer getting ready for the trial of the century. And Becca—she leans in, grabs both of my hands, and looks at me like I’ve just emerged from solitary confinement where I’ve been the last ten years.

“Jessie,” she says. “You are beautiful.”

“Um, thanks?”

“No, like, objectively. You’re beautiful,” she repeats. “You know that guys trip over themselves when you walk by, right? Like literally yesterday on the quad, that frat guy walked right into a lamppost because he was checking out your ass.”

My cheeks prickle as I start blushing. “I just thought he was looking at his phone.”

“He was looking at you,” she says, squeezing my hands. “And your big brown eyes, your gorgeous hair, and your body, Jessica. You have a body—”

“I know I have a body, Becks,” I laugh. “I’m pre-med.”

Dani screams louder into her pillow. Becca takes a deep breath.

“That’s not what I meant. What I’m trying to say is that you are gorgeous. You’re a beautiful girl, but you’re eighteen years old, and you’ve never—not even once…?”

“Well, I’ve never had a boyfriend. You know that.” It’s the sad but honest truth. I’m a busy girl. Between the muffins that take the better part of a Sunday morning and all the work I did in school so I could get into a great college, I’ve led a pretty sheltered life.
Briar finished a double shift at the truck stop and is speeding to her night class when the flashing lights appear behind her. She’s expecting a ticket, but instead, finds herself staring up at Officer Gareth Rawls, a grizzled detective twice her age. He arrests her on the spot, brings her to the station, and locks her in an interrogation room. What starts as a bogus arrest becomes something neither of them expected and neither can walk away from.

But Gareth has secrets—secrets could destroy everything. And Briar? She’s about to find out what happens when a good girl falls for a very bad cop.

A high-heat, human-written instalove romance featuring a possessive uniformed alpha, age gap, forbidden attraction, innocent heroine, protective hero, forced proximity, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA with epilogue

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

GARETH

I’m starting to go numb.

When I first became a cop, I was driven. Nothing could get in my way. I wanted to bring bad men to justice. Put as many of them behind bars as possible.

And I did it. I rose like a star. Became the youngest detective in my precinct. People started talking about me being the new captain.

And then ‘the incident’ happened, and I’ve been put on traffic duty while they investigate.

Can you believe that? Me. The new police hotshot with a flawless case record, pulling people over for speeding and administering field sobriety tests.

What a waste of my time.

A Jeep filled with a bunch of rowdy guys zips by. They’re cheering like hyenas, celebrating a football or basketball victory. I could pull them over, but what’s the point? Spend the next ten minutes giving them a talking-to and then have to deal with their obnoxious parents?

No thanks.

I sit back, watch them fade into the darkness, then go back to my coffee, which has been sitting so long it might as well be iced. It tastes like mud mixed with battery acid, but I need something to keep me awake through these tedious nights.

I raise the Styrofoam cup to my lips to take a sip, but something catches my attention.

A girl’s gorgeous face, speeding past me.

Something sparks in my heart, and I have to grasp the steering wheel as a forgotten feeling zaps through me. It’s been a long time since I felt anything other than boredom. Other than rage.

Who are you, angel?

She looks like a model at the wheel of an old sedan. A Honda that looks like it’s held together with tape and glue, rattling by me at forty in a twenty-five.

I barely catch a glimpse of her face, but it’s enough to captivate me. There’s something sweet in her expression. So determined. So soft. Everything I am not.

Normally, I’d give someone speeding like that a pass. But not this one. Not her.

I hit the lights and sirens and pull out after her. My chest heaves as I gasp short, desperate breaths. No way am I letting a girl who can get me feeling this way get away.

Who are you, angel?

Protocol says I’m supposed to call this in. All traffic stops must be called back in to dispatch. But as I reach for the radio, I’m shocked to find my hand is shaking. Even my skin is hot.

What the hell is happening to me?

The Honda slowly pulls over, and I park behind her, staring at the back of her head. Part of me hopes she’ll be an obnoxious brat. Then I can go back to my normal life of dull indifference.

But what if she isn’t?

I grit my teeth and exit the car.

My muscles are tense as I walk up and rap my knuckles on her window. The glare from my flashlight obscures my view, but when she rolls the window down…

Then. Then she looks up at me, and I start praying for strength.

Her beauty is overwhelming. Flawless, wide-eyed, and innocent. Her petite frame has me clenching my fists at my sides.

Christ, I want to fuck her. Right here. Right now. Bend her over the trunk and ruin her.

My vision narrows, blurring out the blue and red flicker from my lights as I focus on her. Nothing but her exists. Not my ticket book. Not my investigation. Just her.

Lava flows from my heart, igniting my chest, melting away at the glacial ice within. A feeling I thought I’d lost.

Pull it together. Maintain.

“I’m Officer Gareth Rawls. License and registration,” I grunt. She already has them ready for me and hands them over. Despite her innocent face, there’s something in her eyes. Resilience. Backbone.

She’s wearing a worn-out pair of jeans filled with holes and an oversized T-shirt that looks thrifted. Still, no supermodel could compete with her. Other girls must be so jealous.

“Briar Beeman.” Her name tastes like honey on my tongue. “Do you know you were going forty in a twenty-five?”

My pants tighten as she looks up at me, all the blood in my body rushing to my center.

I knew Chris was dangerous the moment he walked into my bookstore.

He moves quietly through rooms, studying them… Every door. Every window. Every exit.
But when he looks at me, that danger disappears.
He’s quiet. Protective. The kind of man who makes a shy bookstore girl feel safe in a world that suddenly feels too big.
Then I gave him a cup of coffee and I knew my life was about to change. What I didn’t know, was how dangerous that change would be.

Because Chris isn’t the man he pretends to be.
He’s a professional thief.
A man who’s spent eleven years robbing banks and disappearing without a trace. And the blueprints hidden in his closet prove tomorrow will be his biggest job yet.

I should run.
But when Chris looks at me, the ruthless criminal disappears, and the man underneath looks like he’d destroy anyone who tried to take me away.
Now I’m caught between two impossible choices:
Walk away from the only man I’ve ever loved…
Or trust the thief who stole my heart.
A human-written, addictive, instalove romance featuring a dangerous bank robber, an innocent bookstore girl, and a love worth risking everything for. No cheating, no cliffhangers—just obsession, protection, and a guaranteed HEA

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1
AVERY

He’s here again.

Third Tuesday in a row. Same time, just after five when the light through the front windows of Worn Spines, the little bookstore where I work, turns amber.

He comes through the door with such confidence you barely even notice. Like this little bookshop on Fifth Avenue in Gaslamp is just another errand on his list. Only nothing about him says errand.

He radiates precision.

He oozes control.

I only notice him because he tries so hard not to be noticed. Plain khakis, black T-shirt, black shoes. Nothing flashy. Nothing fancy. But the way he moves through the store with his shoulders level, eyes scanning, aware of every bit of his surroundings—that’s not how normal people browse for books. That’s how someone walks through a space they’ve already mapped in their mind.

I’m standing behind the counter, pretending to organize the new arrivals display, but I’m really watching him. I’ve been watching him for three weeks now. Which sounds creepy, but I can’t stop myself.

Maybe it’s because I’m eighteen and he’s clearly much older than me. Or maybe it’s because I’m barely scraping by and he has his whole life under control. Maybe it’s because he’s mysterious.

Of course, it doesn’t help that he’s absolutely gorgeous.

Not pretty-boy gorgeous. Not Instagram or TikTok gorgeous. He’s the kind of gorgeous that would make you cross the street away from him at night and then hate yourself for not having the guts to stay near him.

Slicked-back blond hair, well over six feet, a jaw that could have been carved from steel, and a muscular body that even his plain clothes can’t hide. The black T-shirt stretches over his shoulders and chest like it’s seconds from tearing. His arms are thick and veiny, and when he reached for a book last week, I caught the edge of something dark on his bicep. A tattoo. Just the tip of it, disappearing beneath the fabric like a secret.

I’ve been thinking about that tattoo for days, which is crazy. Because I don’t even know his name.

Today, he goes straight to the non-fiction section, pulls out a book like he knew it would be there, then takes a seat in the leather chair by the window like he owns it. He opens the book and starts reading.

Not skimming, not checking his phone. He’s focused.

I tilt my head discretely to read the spine from across the room.

Advanced Security Systems. Electricity, Sensors, and Design.

Interesting.

Not a self-help or a book on politics for this guy. A technical manual on security systems. The kind of thing someone might read if they were trying to get past them…

Stop it, Avery. He’s probably just an engineer or a guy in the field…who just so happens to look like he could snap someone’s neck without even raising his heart rate.

I should leave him alone. But I know I can’t. Quickly, I brew two cups of the shop coffee and walk over to him.

“Just a little light reading?” I say, stopping in front of his chair, holding out a mug for him. He just looks at it, then up at me.

And wow, he’s even more stunning up close. His eyes are ice blue, almost gray, and they beam into me with a focus that I can almost feel. I’m pinned in place. For a full second, he doesn’t speak. He just looks at me, my face, my hands holding the mugs. He’s reading me the way he reads rooms.

“Can I help you with something?” His voice is low. Flat. Not rude exactly, but impenetrable.

“I just brought you a coffee,” I say, holding out the mug. “Anyone sitting in this leather chair gets a free cup. It’s a rule I invented a couple minutes ago.”

Nothing. Not a smile, not even a twitch of the lips.

“I didn’t ask for a coffee.”

“I know, I just thought it would be a nice gesture…”

Something moves behind his eyes, like he’s calculating. Trying to figure out why I’m standing here. What I want. Whether or not I’m a threat.

Me. All five-foot-three of me in my two-year-old Converse and torn up jeans.

“Who sent you over here?” he asks.

“Sent me? Nobody sent me. I work here. Just trying to be friendly.” I glance at his book, trying to change the subject to something he’s more into. “You’re into security systems?”

His jaw tightens, and his eyes narrow. He glances behind him, then looks back at me, squaring his shoulders. “What exactly is your interest in what I’m reading?”

I take a step back. The warmth I walked over with is swept away with something cold. Embarrassment. I drop my eyes. “I’m sorry. If you don’t want to talk to me, that’s fine. Have a nice day.”

I turn to leave, feeling deflated. After three weeks of wondering about this man, thirty seconds of conversation has told me everything I need to know. He’s rude, paranoid, and probably is the kind of person you would cross the street to avoid.
I’ve never had a boyfriend.
Unless you count the discreet one in my bedside drawer.

He’s reliable.
Predictable.
And completely safe.

Which is exactly why I prefer him to actual men.
Then Dawson Clark throws a creep across a party floor to protect me.
He’s older.
Dangerously confident.
And looks at me like I belong to him.

I run the first time.
Then again.
But Dawson keeps showing up.
At my coffee shop.
At my door.
In every thought I can’t shut off.

He says I don’t need to know how to do this.
That he’ll teach me.
And the closer he gets, the more I realize something terrifying…

My safe little routine might not survive him.
Because Dawson Clark is made of something real.
And once he decides he wants something…He doesn’t let it go.

A human-written, instalove romance featuring a possessive alpha and an FMC whose life will be forever changed. No cheating, no cliffhangers, just pure devotion and a guaranteed HEA!

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

EVIE

It’s Friday night, and I’m alone in my apartment again. But that’s okay. I have my boyfriend, Charles, with me. He’s the perfect boyfriend; he’s warm, reliable, knows exactly how to please me, and most of all, we never argue.

I’m reaching for him when my phone buzzes and nearly scares me out of bed. It’s my friend, Reese, my polar opposite. In every way I’m calm and restrained, she’s wild and loves to let loose. Maybe that’s why we get along so well.

I know she won’t stop calling unless I answer, so I do. My right ear is greeted with sounds of loud voices and glasses clinking together. “Evie!” she shouts. “Evie, get your lazy ass out of bed and come out! I’m coming to get you in five!”

I glance at the bedroom door, already closed and double locked. This is my ritual: the lights are off, my vanilla-lavender candles are burning, and I’m in nothing but my underwear ready for some me time.

“I’m not going anywhere, Reese,” I say, trying not to come off as grouchy, but I can practically see the frown in her tone when she responds.

“It’s been two months since you’ve been out. And if you spend any more time with Charles, your hoohoo is going to fall off. Bet.”

“My hoohoo is just fine, thank you,” I reply. “I’m gonna go now. Have fun.”

“Bye, loser,” she replies.

“Bye, bitch.” I smirk as I hang up. I set my phone on the side table and reach into Charles’ drawer where he’s been sleeping since this afternoon. I took him out and used him twice this morning, once after lunch, once in the afternoon, but those were all just to tide me over until tonight. Tonight is when the magic happens.

I twist Charles’ bottom and feel him come to life, vibrating softly in my fingers. Charles looks like lipstick, nice and discrete, and the familiar feeling gets my lips twisting into a smile as I slide him down into my panties to my special place.

The familiar sensation is like instant joy spreading through my body. My hips rock, and my back bucks off the mattress. I grab a fistful of the sheets, take a deep breath, and close my eyes.

The pressure inside me builds. My chest tightens and my core goes tight. Warmth spreads through my belly as my thighs begin to tingle. My tongue slides out and traces a line across my lower lip, mimicking a man’s kiss.

“More…” I moan, my voice barely a breath as I twist Charles’ base and increase his speed. After all the times I’ve used him, I can go all the way to the maximum with no problem. Reese calls me Teflon Pussy.

It doesn’t take long before I’m coming, soaring over the edge, yelping into my pillow as my body takes over, quivering and shaking, my thighs clenched down on Old Reliable, as I like to call him.

I could keep going, but I give myself a break and twist the base of my toy to shut him off. Heart pounding, I feel it again—that hollow sensation that’s been eating at me for the last few months.

Sure, I can bring myself to orgasm no problem. And I do it so many times a day that my best friend is starting to think I’m psychotic, but there’s a growing emptiness that follows that’s starting to get worse.

I’m twenty-one and have never been with a man. Never even kissed one.

I want a man. Desperately. I’ve just never had the guts to actually go through with it. The thought of being naked, exposed, actually seen by a man? That’s just insane. Impossible even.

So Charles it is. “You’re the best, buddy.”

Reese keeps telling me I’m going to desensitize myself. That I’m ‘training my body to only respond to a machine.’ And honestly, I’m starting to get more and more afraid that this might actually be happening.

But I just can’t stop. Maybe there’s something wrong with me. Maybe I’m a nymphomaniac that’s also got a man phobia. But my time with Charles is the only release valve I have.

Am I addicted to him? I don’t want to believe so. I mean, I enjoy him. Why shouldn’t I partake whenever the urge strikes? Right? There’s nothing wrong with that. So even though I know I should put him away, I go back to him again.

I’m already hypersensitive from the first one, so as I press him to my button, my whole body jerks, causing the headboard to knock back against the wall. My mouth falls open, and I give myself over to him—to my own compulsion. Yet each orgasm feels softer than the last. Doesn’t quite hit as hard.

It’s like I’m chasing a high that keeps eluding me. Like there’s a hollowness inside me that I’m trying and failing to fill. But I’m not stopping.
They call him the king of Chicago. I call him my enemy.

Ryker Vale rules the city with guns, blood, and absolute control. Older. Untouchable. He destroys anyone who defies him.
Unfortunately for both of us—I do.

Now our parents have merged their criminal empires, and I’m forced into his house…
His territory…
His line of fire.

Every fight is charged. Every touch forbidden. Enemies by blood. Step-siblings by marriage.
We were never meant to want each other. But enemies make the most dangerous lovers.

And Ryker Vale never lets go once he’s claimed something.
An explosive, over-the-top enemies-to-lovers romance featuring a ruthless crime king step-brother and the fearless virgin heiress who refuses to bow to him. No cheating, no cliffhangers—just off-limits tension, savage power plays, obsession that burns hotter than bullets, and a hard-won, possessive HEA

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

RYKER

I’m counting up today’s earnings when Kane enters my office. “She’s down at Rocky’s. Got her crew with her.”

My fists clench tightly as a stab of adrenaline zaps my body. I reach into my drawer and grab my gun—the always reliable .38 revolver.

“I warned her,” I snarl as I stand.

Kane smirks. He knows what’s about to go down, and he’s excited. “Maybe she’s making a takeover play?”

My chair slams against the wall as I rocket to my feet and snatch my coat from the rack. Teeth grinding together, I launch past my second-in-command.

“Rally the troops,” I tell him. “Meet me there.”

My heart pounds in my chest as I bust out of my twenty-million-dollar mansion and slide into my blood-red Lamborghini. I floor it and drift out of the gates onto the street.

A couple of cops doing a traffic stop just watch me run a red light and look the other way. They know who I am, and they know better than to pull me over.

I’m Ryker Vale, heir to the Vale crime family. For the last thirty years, we’ve run half of Chicago. Only now there’s a new gang in town, The Noirs, and they’re making things messy.

They came to town looking for a fight, but after a few years of trading blood, we finally reached a truce. We’ve gone five years without incident, but now their daughter, Sable Noir, is pushing the boundary lines and stirring up trouble.

I sent Kane to warn her once, but if what he says is true, she’s not listening. And tonight, I’m going to show her who really runs this city.

A fleet of black Noir-family SUVs sits out front of Rocky’s Bar as I pull up, and my rage starts boiling. What does this girl think she’s doing?

Glancing in my rear-view, I see my boys rolling up behind me as I park across the street and get out.

“How many does she have with her?” I bark.

“Six or seven,” Kane replies.

I slam a fist into my palm, embracing the pain, readying myself for war as I cross the street. My men take up the flanks like the soldiers they are. Sable might think I’m gonna go easy on her, but she has no idea what’s coming.

I nearly tear the front door off its hinges as I enter the bar. Smoke fills my nostrils, and chatter assaults my ears. Club music blares, and Noir men in black suits lean against the bar.

Rocky’s is Vale territory. It’s a front that we use to clean our dirty money. The Noir family knows this. But Sable is unhinged and crossing the line.

Well, if she wants a war, I’ll give her one.

“Point her out,” I tell Kane. I’ve never actually met Sable in person, but as soon as I’ve asked the question, I see there’s no need. Only one woman in this bar tonight could be Sable Noir, and I’m staring right at her.

Stunning would be an understatement. She’s drop-dead gorgeous. Dark hair with ice-cold blue eyes. Lush, plump, red lips, a thin neck and perky tits that are nearly spilling out of the black lace top she’s wearing.

“Fuck…”

Blood rushes to my cock as I stare. Kane shifts at my side, ready for my command.

“I know,” he chuckles. “She’s a looker—”

“Shut your mouth,” I snap, drawing a startled look from him. “We’re here to work.”

Leading the pack, I stride right up to one of Sable’s men as he’s about to take a shot and drive my fist into his side. At least two ribs crack under my knuckles. He cries out and drops like a brick, writhing in pain at my feet.

His men whirl, reaching for weapons, but Sable snaps, raising her hand in the air, “Hold.”

Her men freeze, obeying their leader’s command. She’s got them well trained, I’ll give her that.

Sable may be only eighteen, but she already looks like a fashion model turned crime boss.

My eyes narrow as I stare into her icy blues. She’s wearing a blood-red skirt, black stockings with a black garter belt, and black designer heels with red bottoms.

“Sable Noir,” I say, my voice tight and low. “This is Vale turf. You and your men leave now. I’m only going to ask once.”

The energy of my men is palpable—they’re itching for blood.

Sable’s plump lips twist up at the corners. Am I amusing her?

She glances at her man still groaning in pain at my feet, then takes a cherry from her drink and slips it into her mouth.

“After you broke poor Jacob’s ribs? No, I don’t think so…Ryker? That’s your name, right?”

My skin is hot. My knuckles yearn for flesh and bone. “You know my name.”

Her eyes gleam back at me. She nods, flicking the cherry stem onto the floor.

“Yes, I do. But I have news for you, Ryker.” The length of her legs and the curve of her hips goes straight to my core as she stands. Her designer perfume wafts into my lungs—sweet, dangerous, intoxicating. “This bar belongs to me now.”
