Rian

As head of the O’Shea family, I don’t make mistakes.

I certainly don’t become obsessed with a guy. Stalk him. And then proceed to kidnap him to a secluded cabin when an attempt on my life is made.

But that’s exactly what I did.

While my family hunts down the men who tried to kill me, Doctor Preston Abbott is trapped with me, and I expect him to nurse me back to health before paying the ultimate sacrifice. Abbott…who is also the governor’s son.

Each day my interest in him grows. He cares for me, shares parts of his life with me, willingly gives his body to me and begs for more…even though he knows he’ll die by my hand.

I never thought I would want someone again this way, that I would crave another person the way I do Abbott. He’s too good for the violence of my world, and all the sinful things I revel in. I’m a monster but he’s mine until the end.

Mine to crave…mine to touch…mine to kill…

Craving Sin contains MCs dealing with grief, violence, darker themes, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance, so you can expect a happily ever after for our guys

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Rian

Nine Years Ago

“I can’t do this without you.” I take Moira’s hand and kiss it. She’s lying in the hospital bed we have set up at the house, the machine that delivers her pain meds making a soft sound beside her.

How am I ever supposed to survive without my wife? The love of my life. The person who is somehow my rock, my strength, and my heart.

I have loved her since I was sixteen years old—for twenty-three years—and now I’m supposed to live without her?

“Yes, you can,” she says, her voice soft and rough. She smiles, and even now, with how sick she looks, with the weight loss and the way cancer has ravaged her body, staring at her still makes my pulse speed up. She is still the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.

I look down, gaze meeting our joined hands because I can’t handle meeting her eyes. She always had more faith in me than I deserved, always saw more in me than what is really here.

If you searched the word good in the dictionary, you’d see a photo of Moira there. She is the definition of love, of caring about others. I don’t know what she’s ever seen in me, but I’ve spent every moment since I met her trying to be worthy of her—despite all the terrible things I do—despite the drugs, guns, and murder.

And somehow, she has loved me regardless.

She has given me a son, who is more his mother than he is me, and I’ll never deserve him either.

How do I look her in the eyes when I know I’m going to ruin him? That, without her, I’m afraid of what I’ll turn into, afraid that I’ll kill the parts of him that are her.

“Rian,” Moira says, but I don’t reply. “Rian,” she says again. “Look at me.”

I do because I could never deny her anything. To some—like my brother, Sloan—my devotion to her makes me weak, but I never looked at it that way. Now though, I wonder if they were right, because I don’t know who I am without her.

“Do you remember the first day we met?” she asks.

“Of course.” We were in high school. She’d just moved to Boston, and the second I saw her, my heart had stuttered. I’d felt a tingling at my nape, and I’d known she was the one for me.

“You walked right up to me that first day of school and told me you were going to marry me.”

I smile at the memory. “And you hated me. You thought I was cocky…an asshole.” And she hadn’t been wrong.

“I did,” she says. “But I’ll tell you a secret…I thought you were cocky and an asshole, but I didn’t hate you—no matter how hard I pretended to, because I knew that first day too. One look and I knew, Rian, and it wasn’t because you were the most handsome man I’d ever seen.”

“But I was.” I wink, and she chuckles before coughing, the sound nearly ripping out my heart.

“You were…you still are, but I knew because I felt you right here.” She places her other hand over her heart. “Because I sensed how big your heart is for those you love, and I wanted to be that person for you so badly.”

My eyes flood with wetness, my vision blurring, and I quickly swipe at the tears, not wanting anything to keep me from seeing her—not even for one second. “You were. You always have been. You always will be. The only person I’ll ever love.”

The person who never deserved her. I can’t help thinking about that now, seeing her in this bed and knowing she’s dying…all the times I’ve hurt her come back to me, all of the things she’s given up in her life because she loves me, and now she will die without a second chance.
When I first laid eyes on Zuri Alexander, I knew she was mine.

And becoming more than friends was just as easy as breathing.

But she doesn’t know my secrets. There’s a dark side to the family business. So, I lie to her to cover it up.

I know she can feel the wall building between us, and I want nothing more than to tear it down…but the only way to do that is to share my truth with her.

That the girl she’s dating is involved in organized crime.

But when Zuri becomes a target of what appears to be some red pill incel, I know we’re the only ones who can keep her safe.

I just hope she can trust me one last time.
Because my devotion to her means there is nothing I won’t do to protect her.

Sweet Devotion is a 24k-word novella that contains violence, an attempted abduction, misogyny, sl*t shaming, and discussion of losing parents

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Aislin

Fall

“Hi. I’m Aislin,” I say to the stunning girl with the braids when class is over. I noticed her the second she walked through the door. How could I not? She’s the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. Her eyes are a whiskey color—her lashes dark, her brows perfectly sculpted. Her hair is long like mine, only in hundreds of braids, each of them curled at the ends. She’s curvy, with a confident but kind smile and gorgeous, warm-brown skin.

To say I was instantly attracted to her is an understatement, but more than that, she just has me curious, and I’m not even sure why.

“Zuri,” she replies, holding her hand out to me.

I shake it, her touch sending a jolt of electricity up my arm. “Aislin,” I say, before I remember I already told her that. “Sorry.” My cheeks heat, which is a totally new response for me. I’m not the type who typically gets embarrassed or shy. I’m good in the moment, can think quickly, but Zuri has my brain feeling like mush and my heart beating overtime. “Do you have another class right now?” I ask her, still vibing out what exactly I mean by that question. Am I asking her on a date? Does one even ask someone on an immediate date seconds after meeting them?

This is all so new to me, but that’s part of the reason I’m in college—for the experiences I was protected from having thanks to my now-dead father being a mob boss and all.

“I do,” she answers.

My body immediately deflates. I want to talk to this girl more. I want to get to know her, learn about her, be friends with her, and maybe more.

“I’ll take your phone number, though,” she says, and yeah, I should have thought about that. I was about to walk away defeated. Who even am I right now?

“Okay. Only if I get yours too.” I test out the flirty reply, and luckily, she grins in response.

And then I grin.

I really like smiling with Zuri.

She takes out her cell, then adds my number in as I give it to her. My phone buzzes a second later with a text.

I check it, even though I know it’s from her, and all I see is a simple heart emoji.

It makes my heart race in response.

I send one back.

“I have to go,” she says.

“Me too.”

“I thought you didn’t have class?” Zuri cocks a brow.

“Oh no. I do. I was going to skip. You would be worth it,” I say, then watch her bite her bottom lip.

“You’re going to be trouble, aren’t you, Aislin?” she asks.

“Depends on your idea of trouble,” I tell her, then stand there and watch as Zuri walks away.

I stare at my phone for hours that afternoon, trying to decide if I should be the one to text her first. When I finally realize I don’t care if it looks like I’m excited to talk to her, I stop trying to talk myself out of sending a message and actually do it.

Me: Hanging out with you would have been way better than going to class.

Zuri: Would it have been? Why is that?

This time, it’s me biting my lip while I look at my cell and try to figure out how to respond.

It doesn’t take me long to send a flirty message in reply, and the two of us continue that way—not just tonight, but all day, every day afterward.

I have no idea if she’s queer or not. I hope she is, but even if she’s not, I have fun just chatting with her. Zuri is easy to talk to, funny, wicked smart, and just…kind. I can use more kind people in my life.

I can use Zuri in my life, even if all we ever become is friends.

*

Zuri

I never expected to fall for someone in college the way I’ve fallen for Ash. We started as just friends, but I was interested in her from the start.

I’d always told myself I wouldn’t get serious with anyone in college, though. That’s not why I’m here. I came here to get an education and become a doctor, but from the first conversation I had with her, I knew she was different.

We’ve been talking for a few months now, and what started as a friendship has grown to cuddling, kissing, touching, and exploring each other’s bodies.

And tonight, she’s taking me on a date.

Things have been a little hectic lately; between school and Ash’s family, it feels like something is always going on.

We did hang out at her brother Tiernan’s house a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time I’d really gotten to spend much time with all of them. Ash is really protective of her family. It’s clear there are some secrets there, secrets she can’t or isn’t ready to share with me, but partying and then sleeping over at Tiernan’s house feels like a step in the right direction.
Lucas
To my dad, Hunter King is a football prodigy destined for greatness.

The son he always wanted.

To me, Hunter King is the guy I’ve loved most of my life.

The guy who happens to be my dead brother’s boyfriend.

We were kids when Hunter came into our lives—the boy with the skill my brother didn’t have and the drive I lacked. The one who was always kind to me, who cared about my photography when, to my dad, it was a hobby, not worth anyone’s time.

Looking at the world through the lens of my camera is the only thing I’ve ever wanted.

Other than Hunter King.

Hunter
I would be nothing without the Blakes. Coach Blake nurtured my football talent from high school through college and now professionally. For all intents and purposes, he was my father. And when I started dating his son Ellis, it felt like I truly became part of the family.

But since Ellis died, nothing feels right anymore—not even the game I’ve always loved.

Until Lucas walks back into my life.

With each lingering touch, I feel sensation returning. Every kiss breathes air into my lungs. And for the first time in three years, it feels like my heart starts beating again.

But with every embrace, I’m betraying Ellis’s memory. The media, my team, Coach Blake will all condemn me. I’ll no longer be their Comeback King. I’ll be the man who is sleeping with his dead boyfriend’s brother.

Yet none of it is enough to make me stop.

The Comeback King is the first book in a new series. You can expect big feels and a secret relationship with pining and learning to love after loss

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Hunter

Everyone at practice seems to know each other—or at least know someone else—except me. I feel them watching me, feel them wondering about the new kid who transferred freshman year to a private school he couldn’t afford without a scholarship, not on this side of town. None of them have said shit to me yet, probably because they know I don’t belong here, other than on the football field. I’m really good at football.

“Hey…you’re Hunter King, right?” A guy steps up beside me. He’s got a golden tan, light brown hair, and brown eyes. He smiles at me the way you do with a friend. A real smile. The guy feels like he’s bursting with sunshine, which is weird—like that boy-next-door shit, the perfect kid with straight A’s, tons of friends, and everything a person can dream of, but also like he doesn’t let it go to his head.

“Yep.” I cross my arms, watching the guys run drills. We’re practicing in shifts for now—it’s the first day of tryouts and the coaches need to see what we’re made of.

“I saw you earlier. You’re even faster than they said, but like, have good brute strength too. The all-around running back who can do anything.”

I chuckle, surprised that I do. It’s not the first time I’ve heard something like that, and it’s true, but often it annoys me. Usually, it feels like someone is saying it because they want something from me, because they don’t expect me to be as good as I am, or because they’re jealous. I don’t know this guy, but he doesn’t seem the type. There’s something genuine about him.

“Thanks. What position do you play?”

“The bench.” He laughs in a way I could never do if I’d said the same thing. “My dad wants me to be quarterback, but I’m not good enough to actually play.”

“I can practice with you sometime,” I find myself offering. I turn around and look behind me like I expect a second Hunter King to be standing there because those words sure as shit didn’t come out of my mouth. Only there’s no other Hunter there, and I did in fact say them.

“Really? That’d be cool. Thanks,” he says, just as he’s called out to the field. He jogs away, and I realize I didn’t even ask him his name.

He’s right, though. He’s not very good. He doesn’t have the athleticism of most of the guys out here, but it’s clear how much he wants it, how hard he tries.

I like him. He’s real in a world where most people aren’t. I want to help him get better. For some reason, I want this guy on the team with me. I want to be his friend. It’s weird as shit because I don’t typically think that way, don’t decide I want to be friends with someone, but I want it with him. Feels right.

When Coach calls me onto the field, I jog out, heart racing, excitement ready to explode out of me. This is what I’ve always wanted. Playing on such a good high school team, then going to college, before I’m drafted. Nothing will stop me from making my dreams come true.

And just like I wanted, I kill it in practice, showing them everything I can do.

“Hey,” I say to the kid who’s like sunshine in a bottle, once we’re in the locker room. “Wanna stay late and practice? I just have to get to the city bus by eight to get home on time.” Since I don’t live close, my mom and I are responsible for my transportation. Mom brings me to school in the morning, but she’s on evening shifts now, so I have to take the bus, then walk home, which she hates. It makes her feel guilty, when she has no reason to be. She works her ass off to make ends meet, but it’s hard to do alone. When my dad died, that changed everything for us, and she’s been playing catch-up ever since.

“Really?” he asks.

“You don’t have to, but if you want, I’m down.” All I ever want is to play football.

“Yeah. That’d be cool. My mom is already here to pick me up, though. Do you want to come to my house instead?”

There’s no doubt in my mind this kid has money, that we live in totally different worlds. I should tell him no, that I have to go home—also because my mama will not be happy with me going to some random person’s house. But I want to play football, so I shrug and say, “Sure, but as I said, I have to be at the bus station by eight.”

“You ride the bus home?” There’s no mocking in his tone, simply curiosity, but my back stiffens.

“Not all of us live like you.”

“No, I didn’t mean… Shit. I’m sorry. I sound like a douchebag.”

James
I’m forty years old, a tenured professor with investments, property, and a 401k.

But what I crave is to submit. To hand over control to Colton. We met on an app. His needs matched mine. It was only supposed to be once, then twice. No commitment, so I don’t feel bad cutting contact.

Then my world implodes when I get custody of siblings I didn’t know I have.

Everything would have been fine, I would have survived on my own, if not for Sir, my hookup, walking through the doors of my classroom.

He’s over a decade younger than me, and now I’m his professor, yet Sir is giving me schedules I need and caretaking from a distance. I know I should stay away, but I can’t. No matter what he gives me, I want more.

Colton
I’m twenty-eight years old, starting my first semester as a transfer student at a local university, finally following my dreams.

And then I see him, the sub I haven’t stopped thinking about, the one who comes undone for me in ways I’ve never experienced before. He makes all my Dominant instincts flare to life. I’ve always loved caretaking, but James makes me need it on a bone-deep level.

It’s not long before he’s on his knees for me again, surrendering in ways we both crave. He’s forbidden, my professor, my good boy, and I’m his Sir…his dirty little secret. But it’s not enough. I want it all from him, if only he’ll let me have it.

Dirty Little Secret is a student/professor romance, with an older sub and a younger Dom. Please use the look inside feature for a more in-depth content description and warning

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER ONE

James

May

I can’t stop my fingers from drumming against the steering wheel.

Traffic is ridiculous, which means I’m running the risk of being late. Well, not late, really, because I’m never late for anything, but running the risk of not arriving at least fifteen minutes early, like I do with everything.

What will Sir think if I’m not timely?

Tap, tap, tap, tap. My fingers continue to move as I sit at the red light, playing a rapid beat that matches my pulse.

This is my second time meeting with Colton, and I don’t want to disappoint him already. Even more importantly, being late would mess with my head, and it’s already hectic in there, no matter how much I try to pretend it’s not. That’s one of the reasons I need this—the discipline, the organization, not having to decide what to do. In every other aspect of my life, I need control, but this, in these moments and if I find the right Dom, I’m able to get out of my head and just be.

I startle when the car behind me honks, letting me know the light is green.

“Get it together, James,” I say softly to myself, frustrated I was spacing out like that. I’m usually very good at holding it together—I depend on being able to hold it together.

Focus. Most of life’s problems can be dealt with by hard work, focus, and determination, so that’s what I force myself to do the rest of the drive to the house I own in a suburban neighborhood. It’s farther from the college where I teach political science. I don’t live here. I don’t even know why I bought it, but once I started meeting up with Doms, it became a place to do that.

I pull into the driveway at three. I park beside Sir’s older SUV. I don’t know what he does for a living, but from the things he’s said and his callouses when he touches me, I assume it’s something with his hands.

It fits him. I can’t imagine him doing anything else, which is…typically not my thing, but nothing about Sir is similar to any of the Doms I’ve played with in the past—the biggest being that he’s younger than me. Twenty-eight to my forty. He mentioned his age in his bio on the BDSM site where we met. I wasn’t sure it would work, how I would feel about submitting to someone younger, but when he messaged, it had been a long time since I’d given in to this need, and everything he’d said or done had been exactly what I’d needed.

I thought it’d be a one-time thing—it usually is for me—but here we are, meeting a second time for him to control and fuck me.

My fingers tremble, frustration making the back of my neck prickle. I should have been here before him. I hate that he arrived first.

Sir is already out of his SUV by the time I get out, walking around my vehicle toward me.

“I’m sorry I’m late,” I tell him, and he frowns.

“You’re not late. It’s two fifty-five. We said three. You’re all good.”

I don’t know him well—or at all, really—but from what I’ve seen, nothing seems to rattle him. It’s like everything just rolls off his shoulders, this lightness to him I’ve never had myself, and frankly, wouldn’t know what to do with.

Rory
I’m beginning to unravel.

When I meet Shai Burrows, he intrigues me enough that he has me stalking him, following him, watching him.

And when I find out he’s the one who robbed me, instead of handling business, it only makes me obsess over him even more.

But I can’t just let him get away with that, so we cut a deal. Shai will work off what he owes me, with his body, something he’s as eager about as I am. Because after that first touch, our worlds collide.

We get off on danger and seek trouble we’re not supposed to find. He craves my body, and though I don’t understand it, I know I want him by my side.

He’s my obsession, and I can’t help but want more.

In fact, I want it all.

And I’ll take it.

Our world is violent and chaotic. I’ve always reveled in that, but I’m risking it all now. I need to learn control because if I lose him, no one will be able to pull me back from the edge.

Content Warning: Sweet Obsession contains violence, drug use, discussion/memory of losing a parent to suicide (flashback), past scenes of child neglect, addiction (not a main character), discussion of human trafficking, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance though, so none of this is heavy handed and you can expect a happily ever after for our guys. Please see the next page for a more detailed content warning

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Rory

Five years old

The house is new, and I’m not sure I like it. Mom has hardly left her room. She didn’t at the old house either, but at least I knew that place better.

I don’t know where my dad is. He left yesterday, and I haven’t seen him since. I heard him talking about working for the O’Sheas now…maybe that’s why we moved here?

“Mom?”

She stirs in bed. “Hi, sweetheart.” She tries to smile, but it looks hard. Why is it hard for her to smile?

“Do you want to make a plane with me?” It’s one of the only things that can get her out of bed sometimes. She does most of the work, but I’m learning, and I like that she makes them for me, with me. It’s my favorite thing.

“A little later, okay?” She rolls over, her back to me. “Mom is really tired.”

She’s always tired. Mom and Dad fight about it a lot.

My stomach is growling, so I go into the kitchen, make a bowl of cereal, and eat it. I explore the house, play outside. Some kids tried to talk to me, but I threw rocks at them until they left me alone.

Dad is still gone and Mom’s still sleeping when I go inside. Maybe she’s hungry too! If I make her some food, maybe she won’t be tired anymore.

I find a pan—most things are still in boxes—then push a chair to the sink so I can fill it with water. Once it’s full, I push the chair to the stove and set the pan on top before turning the burner on.

Mesmerized by the sparking blue flames, I watch it for a few minutes, then get bored and explore the house some more. There are so many rooms! It’s not until I hear the weird popping sound that I remember and run back into the kitchen to see the water boiling over, hitting the pretty flames. I don’t want to turn it off because I like how it looks, getting lost in it for a minute, watching more water boil over.

When I hear the front door open, I know I’ll get in trouble, so I rush to turn off the burner, hot water splashing my hand, a sharp sting burning my skin, but I don’t make a sound.

“Jesus, Rory. What are you doing?” Dad asks, but I don’t answer. I always disappoint him, and I hate that. I just want to make him proud. “Did you hear me?”

I turn to the man with him and scowl. “Who are you?”

“Don’t talk to him that way.” Dad grabs me by the arm, pulling me off the chair. “You show him respect.”

“It’s fine,” the man says, kneeling in front of me. “I’m Rian. Nice to meet you, Rory.”

He holds his hand out for me, but I don’t take it.

“How was school today?” he asks.

“I don’t go to school,” I snap.

“Preschool?” he asks.

“I don’t need it. I’m a big boy.” But it looks fun on the shows I watch.

“Keeva hasn’t enrolled him here yet,” Dad says, but he’s lying. I’ve never gone to school at all. I asked once if I could go, and Mom said soon.

“He’s almost six, correct? Get it done.” Rian stands. “Moira can help if needed.”

My dad’s hands tighten into fists. I can tell he’s mad, but he only nods.

“Go get your things,” Rian tells my dad, who glances at me, then goes upstairs.

“Have you ever gone to preschool?” he asks. I shake my head. “Where is your mom?”

“Fuck you.”

He cocks a brow. “You have your dad’s fire. That will get you in trouble with the wrong person. You need to learn when to tame it.”

Rian walks away, looking until he finds the room my mom is sleeping in downstairs. He walks over to the bed, but she doesn’t notice.

“Does she do this often?”

I want to say fuck you again, but I don’t want him to be angry at her. “It’s not her fault. She’s sad.”

He sighs, and I’m scared I got her in trouble.

“You pack some clothes too. Your father will be gone for a few days. You’re going to my house. I have a son your age—Cillian. He’s in preschool.”

“I’m not leaving her.” I cross my arms, and he smiles. Why is he smiling?

“Yes, you are. She’ll be okay. Moira will help.” I don’t know who Moira is, but…I want to go with him. I want to meet Cillian. I don’t want to be alone. I’m so bored.

“She’ll make sure Mom is okay?”

“I promise,” Rian replies.

I nod, then run to my room, throw clothes in a bag, and race back downstairs before they leave me.

“She’s okay. She’s just sick,” I hear Dad tell Rian.

“The boy doesn’t need to be alone.” Rian looks up and sees me, ending the conversation. “Let’s go.” He walks toward the door.
Anthony
I’m the last single member of the Jilted Exes’ Club, and I have no plans to change that.

I’m fulfilled with my work at the club, dance classes, yoga, and the Exes. Plus, I’ve been extremely preoccupied with one Kason Maddox, the LA Rebels’ goalie. Let’s just say that since we’ve become friends, my eyes might drift in his general direction a little too much. But it’s only looking. And looking never harmed anyone…

Eventually, our texting sessions lead to dinners out and ending our nights watching our favorite shows. But when the paparazzi catch sight of us and the photos go viral, I suddenly find out I’ve had a boyfriend and didn’t know—a boyfriend without the benefits. And I’m thinking we should reconsider the benefits in this relationship if we are going to be in one.

Kason
So…I thought we were dating. Turns out, the guy I was dating had no idea that’s what we were doing. Friend-zoned without even knowing it. Cool. The equivalent of taking a puck to the face.

But due to an innocent little photo or two, now everyone thinks we’re together, so we have three

1- Stop hanging out to silence the rumors.
2- Hang out as friends and ignore the gossip blogs.
3- Start dating—and both of us are aware of said dating this time.

I know which one I’m rooting for. And if I have to use a little dirty talk and some praise to shift things in my favor, I’m game

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Anthony

Twelve years old

I’ve never been in such a nice house. It’s like a mansion or one of those places you see on television or hear about in fancy areas of Hollywood where all the stars live. Logically, I knew they had them in Missouri too, but not in my neighborhood or any neighborhood I’ve ever been to.

But now…now this is my neighborhood, and I’m staying with an uncle I didn’t know existed. I’m wearing the kind of nice clothes I never dreamed I could have, and going to a private school with uniforms and kids who look at me like I’m something they stepped in. I might not have had friends at my old school either, but at least they never saw me as trash the way these kids do.

The way my uncle and his wife do.

The teacher’s outside the classroom, and everyone is chatting and joking around me. I tug on the collar of my shirt, wondering how these are comfortable for anyone. Why do we have to have collars and buttons that try to strangle us?

A ball of paper flies across the row and hits me in the side of the head. Anger burns up my spine, exploding at the base of my nape.

“Hey, do you talk?” the asshole asks.

“I don’t think he talks,” another guy says.

“He’s just shy. Leave him alone,” follows a softer, more feminine voice.

“Aww, Wendy, do you have a crush on the new boy who doesn’t know how to talk?”

“Shut up, Lance! Maybe I just feel bad for him. His mom didn’t even love him. She’s abandoned him.”

I listen to them argue around me, about me, the muscles in my body getting tighter, my skin feeling hotter.

It’s not until Lance says, “He’s a loser, a weirdo. If I was his mom, I would have left him too. I feel sorry for his uncle—”

I fly out of the chair before he can get another word out. It’s the first time I’ve ever been in a fight. Lance is taller and broader than me, with a whole lot more muscle, but I don’t care. I get two good hits in before our teacher is back, another one with her, the two of them pulling us apart.

My aunt has to come down to the school to get me after that. She doesn’t speak to me in the car, just tells me they won’t tolerate fighting and sends me to my room.

When I hear my uncle get home, I sneak quietly down the stairs, planning to try to explain what happened. When I hit the third step from the bottom, I hear them.

“Can’t we send him somewhere? You know I don’t want him here, Pete,” my aunt says.

“Keeping him isn’t my first choice either, but I’m not sending him away. At least not yet.”

I listen while they argue about me, about how they never wanted kids but got stuck with me, before I turn, slip back up the stairs, turn on music, and dance. It’s the only place I’ve ever felt like I belong anyway. Dancing is better than crying. I don’t need them, I don’t need anyone, as long as I have this.

I make it through the rest of middle school without any further incidents. I keep to myself, not really knowing how to interact with anyone, even if one of them did want me. But they don’t, just like my mom didn’t, my dad, or my aunt and uncle.

It’s two weeks into my freshman year of high school, when I sneak into the dance studio at lunch. It’s a state-of-the-art facility, their program one of the best in the state. I dance to music that’s only inside my head, lose myself to the movement, to this one and only thing in my life that I love. The only thing that loves me back. Maybe that sounds ridiculous, but I feel it and know it’s true.

By the time I’m done, tears are in my eyes, heart pounding against my chest, breaths heaving, when I hear, “That was incredibly beautiful.”

I jump at the sound of the voice. “Sorry. I’ll go,” I tell the woman.

“Please don’t. What’s your name?”

I look away. “Anthony Damiani, ma’am.”

She smiles, her black twists pulled up into a bun. “Anthony, we would love to have you on our dance team. Have you considered joining?”

It’s all I’ve ever wanted, but I don’t know if I could perform in front of people. “I don’t…I don’t know if I can.”

She looks at me with kindness mixed with sadness. “My name is Aliyah, and I’m the dance coach. I could help you if you’d like.”

My heart soars, hope I haven’t felt in too long, maybe ever, building inside me. I don’t know how I’ll do this, how I’ll get over my issues to have it, but I want it…no, I need it. I don’t care what it takes to have dance, but I’ll find a way. “Yes. Please.”

Dawson

I have the most ridiculous crush on Briar, a customer who frequents my café. We never run out of things to talk about, and I find myself looking forward to his visits.

Just when I’m about to ask him on a date, he shows up at Sip and Savor with none other than my twin, who beat me to the punch. Definitely not how I hoped things would go.

Except my brother isn’t the settling-down type, so three months into dating Briar, he chooses the worst time to dump him—right before Christmas and straight after Briar asks Nathan to accompany him home for the holidays.

As I try to console Briar, he surprises me by cooking up a plot straight out of the movies, where I go home to Maine with him, pretending to be his boyfriend.

It’s supposed to be a friendly favor, I get a trip to the perfect Christmas town, and Briar can save face with his family and childhood ex. Only just like back in Boston, we have fun together, get each other, and I swear the spark I always felt between us grows.

But how does a guy tell his twin’s ex that he’s had feelings for him all along? And can what starts out as a holiday exchange turn into the perfect happily ever after?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

DAWSON

Thursday afternoons around two are always dead at Sip and Savor. I don’t know what it is, maybe because it’s close to the end of the workweek, after lunch, and no one thinks it’s a good time for a smoothie or acai bowl, but like clockwork, at about one thirty, people start migrating out, and by two, it’s just me and my coworker. Once in a while there’s a straggler or two still around. Today it’s someone in the corner, with earbuds and a laptop with an “I don’t know how to make you care about others” sticker on it.

Nice touch, if you ask me.

The slower pace isn’t what I look forward to every Thursday, though. Nope. It’s because it’s when he comes in.

Briar.

An adorable, slightly self-conscious tech guy who works about a block away. It’s not the only day he comes in, but I can always count on seeing Briar every Thursday afternoon.

After the first three weeks, I started to look forward to it, and now, two months in, it’s the highlight of my week…which is maybe a little or a lot embarrassing. Why do I get so excited chatting with a random guy? Especially one that, at least on paper, isn’t my type.

Where my hair reaches my shoulders, his is always neat and styled, along with his clothes, which consist mostly of khakis and button-downs. On days when he’s meeting important clients, he adds a tie and jacket.

He went to college for computer science, and I had no idea what I wanted until two years ago, when my favorite smoothie place went up for sale and I decided this was the dream I didn’t know I had.

Briar is smart, sophisticated in his own way, and…a little like my twin brother, Nathan, if I’m being honest, which is a strange thought since I have the most ridiculous crush on the guy.

Briar. Not my brother, of course.

The thing is, those similarities are all surface level. Nathan is charismatic and knows it, while Briar is slightly shy, unpretentious, and from what I can tell, humble. He’s subtly funny but doesn’t seem to realize it. And he blushes cutely at the simplest compliment.

I like being around him.

I like talking to him.

I have no idea if he’s interested in me, but I’ve finally decided to ask him out.

Today. Only, he’s not here yet.

The door opens, and I look up just as he walks in. His short brown hair has a bit of a wave today, but it’s still as neat as always, freshly cut, and he’s clean-shaven. And his brown eyes…I swear they look like the finest cognac. My lips automatically pull into a grin, Briar chuckling too… What is he laughing at? I wonder, but then…then he steps aside, and Nathan walks in behind him.

My stomach twists. My twin and I have an…interesting relationship. I love him. I care about him. I’d do anything for him, but I also never feel as small as I do when Nathan is around. That’s not his fault, of course. He can’t help that he’s larger than life and everyone loves him, but it leaves me feeling insignificant more often than not.

“Hey, Dawson!” Briar gives me a beaming smile that makes me weak in the knees. “I didn’t know you have a twin! We work in the same building. We met today and decided to have lunch together.”

Because of course they did. That’s just my luck, isn’t it?

“Yep. That’s my brother,” I say, trying to hide my disappointment. Not in being related to Nathan, but him having met Briar.

“Big brother,” Nathan corrects.

I roll my eyes. “By three minutes.”

“Still your big brother.” He grins, then nods toward Briar behind him and fans himself, signaling he finds Briar hot.

Yeah, that makes two of us.

“Do you want your usual?” I ask Briar, ignoring my brother. I feel bad about it, but God, can’t I have this one thing? And I admit I don’t know Briar well, and I was just thinking how they’re similar, but the thought of my brother pursuing him makes my gut sour.

Like I said, I love my brother, but he’s not the relationship type. He cycles through men and women like it’s his job, and while there’s nothing wrong with that as long as they’re both on the same page, I’d rather my crush not be one of them. He might not mean it, but the truth is, Nathan can be a little selfish. He doesn’t always think about others.

“Yes, thank you. What about you, Nathan? My treat,” Briar tells him.

His treat. I know what that means.

Nathan gives me his order, and I watch as the two of them head to a table and sit down together.

Andrea, my employee, starts preparing their chicken pesto wraps while I make Briar’s latte and Nathan’s smoothie.

Nathan must be saying something charming and hilarious because Briar is laughing again.
Cillian

I can’t figure out why I’m so intrigued by Ollie Gibson.

He’s nothing like me—soft where my world is hard, sweet and kind while I’ve grown up around violence.

But there’s a fire to him that sparks the one inside me, loyalty that calls to me, and bravery I respect even if it gets him in trouble.

When Ollie’s hurt and we don’t know if the men who attacked him will come back for more, I can’t stop myself from claiming him. There’s nothing I won’t do to protect him, even go behind his back for vengeance.

I crave him—both the sweetness and the fire, the innocence and the dirty boy he turns into under my touch.

I’ll kill for him, turn my world upside down for him, share my pain and secrets with him. Ollie helps me deal with it all—even the drama with my father.

It’s supposed to be temporary. I’m not supposed to want more, but I’m determined to keep him, and for a reason I can’t understand, Ollie wants me too.

The future lawyer and the criminal. The Good Samaritan and the killer. We’re living between two worlds, this place where vengeance can be sweet and our differences don’t matter. But we both know it can’t go on like this forever. If the violence of my world doesn’t tear us apart, one day Ollie will walk away…and I don’t know how to let myself lose him.

Content Warning: Sweet Vengeance contains discussion and grief over the loss of a parent, violence, darker themes, drug use, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance though, so you can expect a happily ever after for our guys

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Cillian

Thirteen years old

I can’t believe she’s in that box.

Organ music plays in the background, everyone in church wearing black. I’m in the front row on the right, near the aisle. I’m the second one in the pew, the first being my best friend Rory, and to my right, there’s Tiernan—my cousin and other best friend. My uncle Sloan is next, followed by Aunt Fia and Tiernan’s sister Aislin. The rest of the pew and the one behind us are filled with other members of our chosen family…of our organization.

My father is nowhere to be found.

Rory shifts his leg closer to mine, pressing our thighs together. It helps my tight muscles relax, even if it doesn’t calm the ache in my chest. They didn’t say it to me, but I know Rory and Tiernan are flanking me to offer support because my mom is dead, and my dad is just…gone. The second she took her last breath, he walked out of the room, and that was five days ago. We haven’t seen him since. The only reason we’re having this service right now is because Aunt Fia organized it. I heard her talking with Uncle Sloan. He’s been in contact with my dad. I tried reaching my dad too, but he hasn’t returned my calls. I stopped trying after day two.

The service feels like it lasts a hundred years. The only reason I don’t get up and run out is because of Rory and Tiernan, who act like my guardian fucking angels at my sides. That, and I don’t want to leave my mom on this day. She already doesn’t have my father with her. I won’t leave her too.

Aunt Fia gets up and talks about her, since clearly, neither Dad nor I can handle it. She talks about how loving Mom was, her love of the piano and her family, how strong she was, how no one could keep it together quite like Moira O’Shea could. She’s right, of course. My father is a lot of things—a criminal, a killer, calculating, tough, brave, smart—but she was his rock. She carried some of his strength. His burdens were hers. He depended on her, was fiercely loyal to her.

He loved her.

I’m still trying to figure out if he loves me.

When the service is finally over, we walk out of the church, Rory and Tiernan still with me.

Everyone approaches me, hugging and kissing me and telling me they’re sorry for my loss. Every set of eyes darts around the church stairs, where I’m stuck waiting for this deluge to end, and I know they’re all looking for my father. Where is the great Rian O’Shea after his wife died and when his son is alone?

But then, I’ll never be truly alone, will I? Not as long as I have Rory and Tiernan.

My skin starts feeling itchy, my heart beating too fast. My chest gets tight, like there’s a fist around my lungs, cutting off my airflow. I need to get the fuck out of here, need away from all these people before I explode.

When the next person approaches me—an unfamiliar woman with a sweet smile—Tiernan speaks before I have the chance. “Leave him the fuck alone,” he spits out.

She freezes, mouth hanging open like a dying fish.

Rory grabs my arm. “Get out of the way,” he says to everyone in our path as he drags me down the stairs and away from there.

Because they know I need it. They can read me as well as I can read them.

Fia calls after us, but we don’t stop, just keep going down the block, decked out in our best suits. We head straight for one of the waiting cars that’s bringing us back to Tiernan’s house, where the reception is being held. Mom always loved big events, loved parties, and especially hosting. She would play the piano at most of them, and she taught me how to play. It’s one of the things I’ll miss the most—playing the piano with her.

The driver leans against the vehicle, pushing off when he sees us and immediately opening the door. The three of us get in, and he heads around to the driver’s seat. “Should I wait for—”

“Drive the fucking car,” Tiernan interrupts.

“Yes, sir.” The man is triple our age, but he won’t deny Tiernan anything. At thirteen, he’s one of the most powerful people in Massachusetts, all because of who his father is. Because Sloan is the boss of our organization, and no one fucks with him, which means no one fucks with us.

The driver raises the divider between the front seats and the back, giving us privacy.

“I’m sorry,” I tell Tiernan because I’m sure Sloan will be pissed about this. It’s all about appearances with him, and Tiernan walking away with me… To Sloan, it makes me weak, and he’ll be angry with Tiernan for being a part of it.

After Sloan O’Shea killed my dad, my mom and I spent years in hiding, moving from state to state, changing our names, never drawing attention to ourselves, hoping to never be found.

I’ve fed off nothing but vengeance ever since.

Tiernan O’Shea is exactly like his father—arrogant, rich, ruthless.

The plan is Get accepted to Ashford U. Get close to Tiernan. Get him to trust me. And then, when he brings me home to his father, I’ll take my revenge on Sloan O’Shea.

What I don’t expect is discovering the secret side of Tiernan, the parts he doesn’t show the rest of the world. He’s as beautiful as he is brutal—deadly, yes, but he’s also the kind of man who would do anything for those he loves. We’re alike in ways I never imagined. And when he touches me, kisses me…it makes me feel like I matter.

I’ve spent my whole life hoping to even the score, but now my revenge will be bittersweet because it’ll make me lose the only man I’ve ever loved.

Content Bittersweet Revenge contains violence, darker themes, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance though, so you can expect a happily ever after for our guys

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Name Pronunciation

Cillian—“Kill-ee-an”

I’m half asleep when I’m jerked out of bed, making my heart jump.

“Riordan. Be quiet. Come with Mommy. Hurry.”

Are we playing a game? Mommy has never woken me in the middle of the night before, and definitely not to play. I usually get in trouble if I get out of bed when I’m supposed to be in bed.

I wrap my arms around her neck, too tired to focus, too tired to do anything other than snuggle into her and try to sleep.

“Get down here, Audrey. Quick!” Daddy’s voice sounds funny, tense. Like he has to get the words out super fast.

My heart beats harder, fear beginning to clear the fog in my head. “Mommy?”

She puts her hand on the back of my head, lifting me higher against her. I wrap my legs around her waist. “Shh. It’s fine.” She kisses my forehead. “Everything is going to be fine.” She hurries down the stairs, then into the living room.

“Come on.” Daddy pulls us toward the hidden door in the bookcase. He always says it’s a secret. We’re not allowed to tell anyone about it, not even family. Just me, Mommy, and Daddy. He says it’s to keep us safe, but why would he need to keep us safe from the people we love?

“Daddy?” I ask, pulling my face out of Mommy’s neck. She smells like strawberries, the scent fading when I’m not as close.

“It’s okay, big guy. I need you to do me a favor. I need you to be real quiet and not say a word. Can you do that for me?”

I nod, my floppy blond hair in my eyes. It’s the same color as Mommy’s, not dark like Daddy’s.

“That’s my big boy. I also need you to do one more thing for me…I need you to take care of your mom for me. You always protect her, and you always take care of her. That’s your most important job.”

I smile. I love it when he gives me something to do. I know he’s super important, and it makes me feel important too. “I’ll do it! I’ll take care of her!” I say excitedly, but then ask, “Where will you be?” Is he going on a trip? To work with Uncle Sloan? He’s not really my uncle, but Daddy says we’re a family. We’re all family. Part of the O’Sheas.

“Right here,” he says, his smile not looking like it normally does. “I’ll always be with you.”

“Liam.” Mommy’s voice cracks on his name, her body shaking, which makes mine shake too.

“I’ll be fine. Everything will be fine. Just a precaution, all right?”

She nods, just as we hear the sound of a car door closing outside. “Fuck.” Daddy kisses me, then her. “I love you both. So much. I’ll always love you. You’re the most important thing in this world to me.” He looks at me, his eyes wet. Is he crying? I didn’t know dads could cry. I’ve never seen mine do it before. “I’m prouder of you than anything I’ve ever done. Now go.”

Mommy runs to the bookshelf and clicks the button so the door opens. Quickly, we rush inside, both of us watching Daddy, like something really bad is happening.

A second later, we’re surrounded by darkness.

“Mommy?”

“Shh. You can’t talk. Let’s play a game. If you can be really, really quiet until Mommy says you can speak again, we’ll get ice cream and video games.”

I smile. “Vanilla.”

She kisses my cheek. “Yes, sweet boy.”

Vanilla is my favorite.

We sit down, and she pulls me close, her arm around me.

“Why are we in here?” I ask.

“We’re playing a game, remember?”

A tear lands on my cheek. If this is a game, why is Mommy crying?

Muffled sounds come from the other side of the wall, voices getting louder and louder. Mommy’s shaking gets harder too.

I’m scared now, though I don’t understand what’s going on. Why are we hiding? Are bad guys here? Daddy says we always have to watch for bad guys. It’s what the family does. But if they’re here, why didn’t Daddy call Uncle Sloan? Uncle Sloan is the boss. Everyone listens to him. He would help.

Mommy leans forward, flicking something open, and then we can see through a small crack in the shelf. We’re low to the ground, so I don’t see faces, but I recognize Daddy’s sleep pants.

“You fucked up, Liam.”

Oh…Uncle Sloan is here. There’s a sharp bite to his voice. I don’t like it when he’s angry. He gets really scary.

“Where’s Rian?” Daddy asks.

“Think he’s going to save you?” Uncle Sloan snaps.

My eyes fill with tears, my stomach twists. Something is very wrong. If there’s one thing we never want to do, it’s make Uncle Sloan mad.

“Where are they?” Uncle Sloan asks.

“Gone. You think I’m stupid enough not to send Audrey and Riordan away?”

Why would Uncle Sloan think he’s stupid? And we’re here, right here, hiding.
