You have to be cruel to be kind.

Morwenna Richards’s world shatters when she discovers the truth about her husband—and realizes everyone closest to her has been lying for nine years.
She’s done being a fool. Done pretending. And she’s walking away.
Fresh out of prison, Venom is back where he belongs with the Evil Dwellers MC. When he left, Morwenna belonged to the club president’s worthless son. Now she’s nearly free, all soft curves and sweet smiles—and Venom wants her for himself.
He’s also the only man who never lied to her.
Their unlikely friendship quickly becomes something far more dangerous, but Morwenna has learned the hard way not to trust a biker. Especially one as ruthless as Venom.

When a deadly threat closes in, Venom will do whatever it takes to protect the woman he loves—even if he has to be cruel enough to make her hate him.

He’ll keep her safe.

But it might cost him her forever

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

“Marry me,” Casey Richards asked.

Morwenna looked toward her long-term boyfriend and shook her head. “We can’t do that.”

“We don’t know if you’re pregnant or not, and I don’t want you to think I’m only marrying for the baby.” He pressed a hand to her stomach. “I love you, Wen. Always have, since we were babies. You know this.”

She rubbed at her temple, and the truth was, at sixteen, she was freaking out. Skipped periods were not usually her thing. She never skipped a period. She was regular like clockwork.

“You’re crazy. There is no way we can get married,” Morwenna said.

Casey smiled. “Of course there is. Our parents have no control over what we do or don’t do. We’re the ones in control, and we’ve got to think of our kid.”

“Casey, we don’t even know if we’re pregnant. Not for real.”

“Look, I didn’t want to scare you, okay, because I figured it was our first time, and you shouldn’t be worried, but the condom broke. It was a pretty old condom.”

“It broke?”

“Yeah, it broke, so there is a chance you might be ... you know ... pregnant.”

She felt that panic and fear. “We’re sixteen years old.”

“And we’ve both got our parents. I know it sounds insane, but you and I can do this. We’ve got each other’s backs, Wen. It is how it has always been. You and me against the world. We’ve got this.”

She looked into his eyes and felt a little sick. Her mother had asked her to be patient, to wait to have kids. To have a life of her own before she settled down. But she loved Casey. She had loved him for a lifetime already. She couldn’t imagine her life with anyone else.

Even as she felt a little sick, because she knew their parents were going to freak out, and that was okay, she knew there was no one else she wanted to be with. There was just Casey Richards, the love of her life.

Casey was her everything, and nothing was ever going to change that.

Chapter One

Nine Years Later

Silence—just what Morwenna needed.

Although she couldn’t get the image out of her head. All she wanted to do was drop off Casey’s present, or Bolt, as she now must refer to him. He did all his prospecting, and now he was a respectable member of the club. She couldn’t help but wonder how many people knew he was cheating. Were they laughing at her?

She glanced down at her ring, but the image before her got a little too blurry. She felt sick to her stomach and closed her eyes, even as her phone buzzed. Every now and then, the sounds of birds singing filled the air, and it was beautiful. This is why she came here, to think and be alone. It was the one place no one was ever able to find. Sure, it was near the lake, but this was filled with boulders and rocks, where the chance of death was a hundred percent guaranteed. This way, no stupid kids or teenagers would attempt any daredevil stunts. There was no safe place to land.

She sat on the boulder, her feet dangling in the water. She found this place many years ago, when she needed to think.

Nine years ago, after she had sex with her longtime friend and boyfriend, she thought she was pregnant. She had never said anything, but Casey had promised he wore a condom. Then he told her the condom had broken. She’d been freaking out thinking she was pregnant at sixteen. Casey offered to marry her, and even though their parents were nervous for them, they didn’t stop them. They had a proper church wedding. Her own father, who was a former soldier, asked if she wanted to run away. Every single time, she told everyone she loved Casey and wanted to get married.

She squeezed her eyes closed because her husband cheating on her just didn’t seem to ... it wasn’t something she could even grasp right now. Yet, she’d seen him with Star, one of the most notorious club women. She overheard Star bragging about all the men she had been with. She was also talking about getting a tattoo so she could celebrate being with nearly the full house.
Jaxson Riggs once hated everything about Higher Ridge. But after years in the big city, he’s come to appreciate the small town he grew up in—the safety, the peace, and the fact that it finally feels like home.

He’s also earned himself quite the reputation with the local women.

But there’s only one woman he truly wants.

Tillie Short.

Sweet, curvy, and kindhearted, Tillie has no one in the world but her beloved dog, Belle. And lately, Jaxson keeps finding reasons to be around her. To everyone else, he’s the town grump. With Tillie, he’s something entirely different.

Their unlikely friendship quickly becomes the best part of her life.

Until one scorching summer night changes everything.

One moment they’re friends. The next, Tillie’s no longer a virgin—and Jaxson has no intention of going back to the way things were.

He wants Tillie. Not for a night. Not as another name in his past.

He wants her as his woman. His wife. His forever.

But Jaxson’s reputation is hard to ignore, and now he has to convince Tillie of the one thing that matters most:

She was never just another woman to him

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

“Fuck off,” Jaxson Riggs said, as he exited Elizabeth Carly’s house. He was angry—no, scrap that, he was pissed off—that the forty-year-old mother of three had tried to seduce him. Not only that, she had even implied if he didn’t fuck her, she was going to tell the whole town he had raped her.

He was not a man to be threatened, and he refused to help the Carlys in any fucking way. They always tried to get out of paying, and Elizabeth was a horndog who fucked anything that walked. He had no idea why her husband put up with it.

The whole family was a shit show, but they had messed with the wrong man. He was not afraid of idle threats, and it probably helped that he had such a blunt and honest opinion on everyone and everything, so no one was going to believe her. However, rather than sit on his ass, he climbed into his truck and went straight to Old Man Daniels, who was also the sheriff in their small, piece-of-shit town, Higher Ridge.

Storming inside, he saw no receptionist at the front desk, but he knew where he was going, and he found Daniels on his cell phone, scrolling. The moment he entered, Daniels jumped.

“What the ever ... damn it, Jaxson, don’t you knock?”

“Where’s Lucy?” he asked, referring to the young receptionist that had taken over from Edna.

“It’s her day off,” Daniels said.

“You think that is wise?”

“Why, because of a crime spree running through Higher Ridge?” Daniels rolled his eyes. “I’ve been sheriff for thirty years, and trust me, other than potential alien invasions, I think I would be out of a job.”

“Elizabeth Carly has just threatened to accuse me of rape for not fucking her,” he said.

Daniels groaned. “Again?”

“Again?” Jaxson asked, a little confused.

“I had Rusty, the rancher, in here just the other week, telling me the exact same thing.”

“Did she follow through with it?” Jaxson asked.

“Nope, I think it is her way of attempting to blackmail you to have sex with her.” Daniels shrugged. “Duly noted.”

Jaxson sighed. “You know what she’s doing is wrong, right?”

Daniels nodded. “I’m aware of it, and the moment she tries to accuse anyone, I will deal with it. This badge is not part of a costume, you know. I take my job very seriously. There is only so much I can do.”

“What-fucking-ever.”

He hated this piece-of-shit town and had attempted to leave it many times. In fact, he did leave it, only this town was nothing compared to the outside world. He had dreams of making it as a big tattoo artist. Had his hopes set on making it large, only those had fizzled and gone to shit in less than six months.

City life was horrible. He hated to admit it, but he rather liked living in a town where everyone knew everyone, and in their own way had each other’s backs. He’d come home, and his father had paid him to go to college, where he qualified to become an electrician, then a plumber, followed by the guy they called when they needed any odd job done. He was damn good at what he did, even if he had a bad reputation.

Jaxson never minced words. He was grumpy as fuck, not that it stopped him from getting laid. He loved to fuck. And there were plenty of single women in Higher Ridge who liked to ride his cock. He had one rule, though—he never played with married women. He actually believed in the sanctity of marriage, and that was because his own parents were still very much in love.

He knew it always amazed people that Mark and Susan Riggs had given birth to a very mean, grumpy son. At least, he was with everyone else, but he adored his parents. They were good parents, and when he was a teenager, he hadn’t been easy. His father had kept him in line. There had been one point when he’d been determined to run away. He didn’t like playing by the rules, and he certainly didn’t think they applied to him. His father had found him at the Higher Ridge border, right at the sign, with a single bag packed.

“Is that it, son? You can’t handle a few rules designed to keep you safe? You think the whole world is going to put up with you breaking the rules? Go ahead, make a go of it, but remember, whatever you do out there, I can’t help you. In here, you’ve got a chance.”

The rule he’d been pissed off about was the 10:00 PM curfew. He didn’t want to be ruled by his father’s time. He wanted his own.

For a good hour or two, he sat at that border and waited, only to get up, turn around, and meet his father at the front door. He would find out a few months later that his own father had done the same to his father. It was expected.

Grace
Bikers destroyed my family once. I swore I’d never trust another man wearing leather and a cut, no matter how kind he pretended to be. So why is the one man who gets under my skin the same one standing beside me every week at the women’s shelter, quietly proving that not all monsters look the way I expected? Reaper is everything I should hate—dangerous, ruthless, and loyal to the Straight to Hell MC above all else. But beneath the scars and deadly reputation is a man who protects women without question… and looks at me like I’m worth fighting for. Falling for him could cost me everything, but walking away might be impossible.

Reaper
I’ve spent my life making sure no woman suffers the way my mother did. My brothers know me as the club’s enforcer—the man who handles problems permanently—but Grace sees the part of me I keep buried. Too bad she hates everything I stand for. Her fire calls to the darkness inside me, and every glare she throws my way only makes me want her more. When trouble comes hunting, I’ll paint the streets red before I let anyone touch what’s mine. She can fight me, argue with me, even hate my patch… but I’ll protect her with my last breath. Because once a Straight to Hell biker claims his woman, there is no letting her go

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Grace had an early shift at the bubble tea store, but she wanted to volunteer at least an hour before work. Spending time at the women’s shelter and giving back was important to her. Essential. After losing her older sister years ago, she’d been on a mission to help other young women avoid the same fate.

She was washing her hands in the small powder room by the back entry door, when she heard crying. Grace quickly dried her hands and rushed to the front of the shelter. She stopped dead in her tracks.

There was a woman on her knees in the front hallway, holding a young girl around seven years old around the waist. A huge tattooed man stood over them. She knew right away he was a biker by the leather cut. Those animals were easy to spot regardless, especially for her. Her heart began to race as she scanned the area for staff members. She was no match for a man his size, but she’d put herself between him and the woman and child if she had to.

She saw Gena coming up the hall but she was much farther away than her, so she moved in close.

“Hey! Get away from her.”

The biker cocked an eyebrow but didn’t move.

“Step back. You realize I have a panic button. If I push it, the cops will be here in two minutes.”

“I just brought them in,” he said.

Yeah, of course he did. Beat up your girlfriend and kid, then dump them at a shelter? Real manly of him. Or maybe they’d escaped him and he followed them here trying to force them back. She’d seen it too many times to count. Why else would she be scared and crying?

She hated men. And bikers were the worst.

“You’re not welcome here,” she said.

As Gena neared them, her nerves eased slightly because the shelter manager would know how to deal with this.

“Oh, Reaper, thank you so much for dropping them off for me,” Gina said.

Grace was stunned, frozen in place as she attempted to process the scene. What the heck was happening?

“No problem,” he said, in that same too-deep voice. “I’ll be by tonight to check out the alarm system.”

“You’re a godsend.”

When she looked at the woman still sobbing into her hands, she noticed the little girl was tugging on the biker’s black jeans. It made her heart rate pick up. She didn’t trust bikers and never would. He looked down at her and smiled. It actually looked warm and sincere, which wasn’t possible.

“I have some stuffies in my saddlebag out front,” he told the girl. Then he turned to Gena. “Is it okay if she comes out to pick one?”

“Of course, I’ll start registering her mom, then Grace can finish the intake.”

“What?” Grace blurted out. “You’re letting her go outside alone with him?” She bit her tongue immediately after when they turned and stared at her like she’d just grown a second head. How could she be the only one who saw a major red flag here? Many red flags.

“It’s okay, Grace,” said Gena. “This is practically Reaper’s second home. He does a lot for us. You don’t have to worry about him.” Then she walked away with the mother to the office.

The mother was still hysterical, repeatedly muttering, “He’ll find me.”

Her heart went out to the woman. That’s why it was so important to keep the shelter a safe place, a refuge. When she turned back around, he was there.

Reaper had a sly smile on his face. “You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.”

The heat of humiliation raced up her collar and she knew her face must be beet-red. “I’m sorry. I was just looking out for them.”

“It was cute.”

Her mouth fell agape. He may not be the enemy this moment, but she still refused to trust a biker. They were criminals and murderers. If it weren’t for bikers, she’d still have her sister. And her parents’ marriage wouldn’t have fallen apart. And they’d still be alive. She learned how grief could kill a person.

The little girl reached for his hand and he actually took it as they walked up the hall together. She was made of questions. How had she never met him if Gena seemed so familiar with him? Grace usually volunteered three days a week at the shelter.

She decided she’d made herself look enough of a fool today, so she got to work. There were several boxes of donated food in the hallway, so she started loading them into the pantry, one can at a time. She took her time, frequently glancing at the front entryway to see if the little girl made it back in safely.

When she heard the door opening, she got more focused on her task, refusing to look away from the pantry shelves. It wasn’t sound that alerted her to his presence, more a feeling. She knew he was behind her, but refused to appear affected.
Poppy
I came to the mountains chasing the photograph that could save my career. Instead, I witnessed something I was never supposed to see. Now ruthless men want me silenced, and my only hope is the mysterious recluse who lives deep in the wilderness. Wilder is gruff, guarded, and impossible to resist—but the longer I stay in his cabin, the harder it becomes to remember I’m supposed to leave.

Wilder
I’ve spent years alone, protecting my land and avoiding the outside world. Humans only bring greed, bullets, and trouble. Then I find a terrified little photographer running for her life, and every instinct I have demands I keep her safe. She may not know my secrets, but she already owns my heart. Anyone who comes looking for my mate is about to discover why a grizzly never backs down from a fight

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Poppy wasn’t a hiker.

Trekking for hours through the rugged terrain had her thighs burning and feet aching. But she was determined to get a pic of the notorious giant grizzly. There’d been supposed sightings the past month, and she wanted to be the one photographer to capture the image. The hefty five-thousand-dollar prize offered to the person who brought in a clear picture was a definite incentive. Poppy was not rich, and photography certainly didn’t pay the bills. Today could be a game-changer.

Not only would she win the cash prize, but her name would be out there for all to see. The jobs would come flooding in, and her financial worries would be over.

She stopped, set down her oversized backpack, and pulled out her water bottle. God, the views were breathtaking. Poppy loved nature, especially the sunsets and wildflowers. She’d been drawing and scrapbooking flowers for years. She was proud to know the scientific names of countless plant species, not that such knowledge would ever prove useful.

After readjusting her ponytail, she slung the backpack on again and started heading in the same direction. It shouldn’t be too much longer according to her calculations. Then she’d settle in with her binoculars and watch the mountainside for movement. No one said this trip was going to be easy, or everyone would be cashing in. So, she wouldn’t complain. Not about the aches and pains, the dropping temperatures, or the deep-seated fear of the unknown playing with her imagination.

After another hour or so of trudging through the thick underbrush and fallen trees, she decided she couldn’t go any farther. Poppy got to the edge of the mountainside and looked down the cliff face. It was thick with tree coverage and seemed to go on forever. She decided it was a good vantage point, so she dropped everything and started to settle in.

She sat down, leaning against a tree, and pulled out her notebook. She wrote down everything from to-do lists, to random thoughts. As she fanned through the old book, she exhaled. At thirty-two she was sitting here in the middle of nowhere like a loser hoping for the needle-in-a-haystack picture.

Poppy had no savings, no property, no boyfriend, and unstable employment. She had to lose at least fifty pounds, her cholesterol was too high, and her window to have a child was getting smaller each year.

She laughed to herself. It sounded worse than it really was. She wasn’t unhappy, just lonely. Survival wasn’t a big deal, as she was used to it. It was the quiet evenings, watching other couples holding hands, envisioning growing old alone. Those were the killers.

She chewed on a piece of beef jerky. It was extra good because she hadn’t eaten since breakfast. As she chewed on her food, her peripheral vision alerted her to movement. Poppy gasped, scrambling to locate her binoculars and camera. She crawled to the edge of the embankment and started focusing the settings, a piece of jerky still between her teeth.

As the image cleared, she stayed as still as possible. It wasn’t across the valley like she expected, but just down a bit on her side of the slope where there was a grassy clearing. There were three men.

Shit.

Others obviously had the same idea. She wondered if they’d already gotten a picture of the mysterious monster grizzly. The tabloids called it, “The Beast of the Mountain.” They looked so much better prepared than her with a lot of equipment.

She sat back down on her butt but kept watching. If they weren’t packing up, maybe they hadn’t gotten a picture yet. And with all those supplies, it would take them longer to get out of the forest. If she got her pic in first, she’d get the reward, no matter how many pics they brought in later.

Poppy examined the plants and weeds nearby from where she was sitting. Nothing exciting was happening when she checked her binoculars. She noted a few highly poisonous weeds and berries, and some edible plants she may clip and eat later if she had to. Maybe her useless knowledge would come in handy after all.
Charlotte Smith is used to being invisible. Bullied and lonely, she hides her pain from everyone.
Except Savage.
He shouldn’t notice her. She’s younger, his Prez’s daughter, and completely off-limits. But Savage sees the sweet, curvy woman beneath the hurt—and keeping his distance gets harder every day.
When he witnesses another man hurting Charlotte, his restraint finally snaps.
Despite knowing there’ll be hell to pay, he can no longer deny that he wants her.
She’s forbidden. She’s his. And Savage will do anything to protect her.
Because danger is closing in on the club, and it might just take the only woman he’s ever loved

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

Charlotte Smith attempted to hide in plain sight, even though she knew it was pointless. Whenever Lucas and his cronies were out to cause some kind of problem, she was often their target, and it fucking sucked. She knew all it would take was to tell her parents, and the problem would be solved, no questions asked. The only issue with telling her parents was, they were currently in a good place. No fights had occurred between them, and Charlotte didn’t want to bring a reason for them to start.

All her life, even though they attempted to hide it, they did a crappy job. She was well aware of her parents’ lack of love for each other. The arguing, especially her mother, Nancy, when it came to nitpicking every little detail about her father, Doc. She knew their marriage was rocky from the start.

Charlotte loved both her parents, but once Jake, her little brother, was killed, it finally woke her parents up to exactly how toxic they were toward one another. She couldn’t stand it.

But, even after all that time had passed since the divorce, her mother, from time to time, still picked out Doc’s flaws, especially between his daughter and the club.

This would be a prime example of that—her being bullied at school for being the daughter of Chaos Monsters MC’s Prez. That was the only reason this was happening, and it was a nightmare.

Instead of enjoying the fair, she had clocked Lucas and his gang walking around. He’d find it incredibly funny to hurt her, especially with the club right here, guarding everyone. It had happened in the past.

All she had to do was get around the fair without being detected. Charlotte moved among people and didn’t dare go on any of the rides, for fear of what he might do.

She passed her father and Maeve, the makeup artist, who was a really sweet woman. She adored Maeve and one day hoped to learn to apply makeup. She tried to learn through the social media videos, but it wasn’t working, and she looked more like a clown. It’s why she had stopped buying makeup, because no one needed to see a girl with so much blush, she was like a beacon for aliens.

“Well, well, well, if it’s not little Miss Goody Two-Shoes,” Lucas said.

She’d been distracted by Maeve, watching her process, and Charlotte did what she did best, and ran.

Of course, Lucas and his friends followed, and she tried to sneak off into the girl’s bathroom, hoping that would be off limits to him. She hid in a stall, but that was not going to keep him out, as she heard him enter the bathroom. The sound of his feet and the footfalls told her he wasn’t the only one.

She had her feet up on the stall, so no one could see her, and she had locked it. Her heart raced as she heard him running his hand against the stalls, and of course, hers being locked didn’t exactly help.

All it took was two kicks and the lock sprung off the door. Charlotte cried out and tried to stifle her own scream as he grabbed her by the hair and pulled her out. She was punched in the gut, then thrown against the wall.

“Now, fat girl, what are you doing hiding from me?” he asked.

“I’m not hiding. I was enjoying the fair.”

“You think you can take my fun away from me, huh? What do you say I make her suck my dick?” Lucas asked.

Charlotte felt sick to her stomach. This couldn’t be happening. The bullying, up to this point, was just punching, random kicking, name-calling, and threatening. This would go way too far, and panic flooded her body. What the hell was she to do?

They had a couple of his guys guarding the door, and Charlotte looked at the other girls in the group. She wasn’t sure if she could see them being uncomfortable, or if they didn’t give a fuck.

Lucas smirked and went to the belt of his pants. “You know, I’ve heard your mom is a real whore. She likes it rough.”

Just as he was about to pull down his zipper, the main door to the ladies’ room was shoved open. Even as there were two of Lucas’s friends guarding the door, they were no match for the strength of whoever was coming through that door.
Boring. Predictable. Invisible.

That's how Clarissa has always seen herself.

She was never meant to marry Lorenzo Vitale. The arranged marriage was supposed to be her sister's—until a gang attack left her sister dead and Clarissa standing at the altar instead.

Crushed by grief, Clarissa buries herself in hobbies and routine, keeping everyone at a distance... especially her husband. She doesn't know how to be a wife, and trusting Lorenzo feels impossible.

Losing her almost changes everything.

Determined to earn her trust, Lorenzo vows to become the husband she deserves. But when Clarissa remembers one small detail from the day her sister died, he realizes the attack wasn't as random as everyone believed.

If Clarissa was the real target, then someone has been lying.

As buried secrets come to light, Lorenzo must decide how far he'll go to protect the woman he loves... and whether their marriage can survive the truth

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

“Old and dull.”

“Stiff as a board.”

“She’s the backup plan”.

“We planned for this.”

Clarissa sat in her sewing room and stared at the start of Lorenzo’s present she had not touched since the night of that fateful party. She got to learn how he really felt about her, and it had been an eye-opening experience.

She knew her husband wouldn’t have any feelings for her. They were not meant to marry. Life had a horrible way of crapping on everything. Her beautiful, smart, loving, amazing sister was supposed to marry Lorenzo Vitale. Not her. But that had gone horribly wrong.

“You can’t die. Don’t die.”

“I love you, Mouse. You got this. It’s on you now to make the family proud.”

Clarissa kept looking at the suit.

Her sister had been blonde, beautiful, slender. Everything came natural to her. She was only fifteen, but Clarissa saw what a light she was. For ten years, Clarissa was the mistake, the daughter their parents wished they didn’t have. She put her hands on her knees and turned to look at her sewing machine.

“No one wants me, Grandma.”

“Hush, child, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I’m not pretty enough. I’m not good enough.”

She reached up and touched her face as the memory of her grandmother cupping her face came back into her mind. It had been so long ago, but it felt as if it was right now.

“You’re a beautiful girl, Clarissa. Do not compare yourself to your sister. You have so much to offer.”

What did she have to offer, really? Her husband found her boring and dull.

Getting to her feet, she stepped out of the room and made her way down the small corridor, but she didn’t go to the kitchen. Instead, she went outside, into the cold autumnal air.

Halloween was once again fast approaching. It had been a year since all of this had happened. She couldn’t quite believe a year had passed since she overheard her husband’s true thoughts about her. There was no way it could be lies, could it?

Although, her three friends went through similar experiences. Liana was called a doormat. Mia was childish. Tatiana’s husband had a mistress because she was boring in bed. As for herself, she was boring, dull, and stiff in the bedroom.

She wrapped her arms around herself and stared out into the night sky, hoping for anything. A sign. Some peace. This pain was too much for her to bear. Liana and Mia had been able to move on and forgive their husbands. According to both her friends, the men had lied. Clarissa didn’t believe Lorenzo had lied. She believed he’d been telling the truth.

There was nowhere for her to go. Her parents claimed they would be there for her, but the truth was, this marriage was nothing more than a business deal. It had been agreed between her and Lorenzo’s family when her sister was fifteen years old. In fact, the night before she died, this engagement had begun. Clarissa had been ten. And he had to wait ten years for her to be of age for this marriage to take place. A business deal.

She took a deep breath, aware of the guards that were always ordered to give her space and keep patrolling the grounds. There had been an attack within the past year, but Lorenzo had saved them both.

She looked up to the sky. She missed her grandparents. They were the only ones who understood her. Clarissa held her dying sister in her arms, trying to stop the blood, but it had soaked through her hands. For a long time, she couldn’t speak, could barely move. She remembered her father wanted to have her committed, and if it weren’t for her grandparents, he would have done so.

Sewing and other crafts distracted her. She no longer went out to school but was homeschooled. For six years after her sister’s death, she lived with her grandparents. The only reason she went back to her parents was because her grandparents got sick and then passed as well. Her grandmother always told her to be happy, to love her sewing, and to just take the time to enjoy life. She had tried.

She thought she might enjoy being married, until that night she heard her husband say those horrible words about her to his friends.

“You shouldn’t be out there,” Lorenzo said, surprising her as he stepped out into the cold. He was in the process of removing his jacket and as he moved toward her, she pulled back, not wanting him to touch her.

“Clarissa, you’re going to make yourself ill,” he said.

“I’m fine.”

She couldn’t feel her arms, and she looked toward Lorenzo. It had been hard to marry him. She didn’t know if her sister had any real feelings for him, but it felt like a betrayal.

“I’m just offering you my jacket,” he said. “You’re going to get sick.”
Harper Taylor has spent years cleaning for the most feared Capo in the Villa Mafia. Trapped by her controlling father and desperate for freedom, the last thing she expects is to fall for her dangerous boss.
Enzo Castelli trusts no one.
Betrayal has shaped him into a ruthless mafia kingpin, but Harper is the one exception. The one woman he can’t stay away from. The one person he would burn the world to protect.
When enemies close in and family secrets come to light, Harper finds herself caught between the life she’s always known and the man who refuses to let her go.
Because Enzo doesn’t share.
And once he decides Harper belongs to him, he’ll destroy anyone who tries to take her away

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Harper Taylor pulled the sheets back from the bed, bundling them into a ball and tossing into the basket. It was laundry day, and that meant cleaning the master’s bed. Not that Enzo Castelli ever behaved like a master. She rarely ever saw him. She was told to always stay out of his way, even though she woke at five in the morning so she could be done with her chores, then study in her bedroom. She’d come to learn his routine.

Enzo was a morning person, waking up roughly the same time as her. There was one time he woke up and went straight to the kitchen for coffee. With the cook not getting in until past eight, she’d started to prepare the coffeepot early. Every morning, before she even got dressed, she’d run downstairs and click the coffeepot on. She hated seeing the few staff that came into his home most days crying, and that had happened. She assumed because he could be so blunt and to the point.

Having a live-in position at his home made life easier, and the irony was, it was freeing and she didn’t have to go back to her parents’ house. Of course, she didn’t see a penny of the money she earned. Her father had complete control of her bank accounts, and he took everything. In the two years she’d been here, she had only gotten two hundred dollars at Christmas. That was it, after twenty-four months of work. She didn’t even know how much she earned an hour.

Aside from her controlling father, staying in Enzo’s home and doing all her chores, she could do whatever the hell she wanted. She read the books that were available in his personal library. There was so much knowledge at her fingertips. Even though she wasn’t allowed to go to college, and her father forbade it, she was finding her education elsewhere. She’d started to learn through the books she borrowed and the notes she wrote.

If her father saw this, he’d go mad. He didn’t like the idea of her getting any kind of education. It was hard trying to finish high school. He’d find any number of excuses to take time away from her. She was never allowed to study in front of him either. It had been a constant nightmare.

At least now she had some semblance of peace, and she happened to be good at cleaning. Enzo’s house had never looked so good, and she put that down to her brilliant organization. It hadn’t taken long to get some order and a schedule to her cleaning. Mondays, she always took care of the master’s laundry, as well as cleaned his room.

“What are you doing here?”

Harper gasped and turned around. It was exactly eight-thirty. Enzo left this morning at seven-thirty. On a day like this, he rarely returned home before six at night.

“I’m taking your bedding to be ... laundered.” They were the first words she had ever said to him.

Enzo was a scary-looking man. Well, no, he was a very sexy, handsome, and mature man. Not that she found him attractive. Absolutely not. She stared at him, and his deep penetrating blue eyes stared back at her.

“I’m, uh, I’m Harper Taylor. You hired me two years ago to clean for you.” She moved a little closer, holding out her hand, attempting to be normal, or at least what she determined to be normal, only it felt like it was falling down flat. This was not a good start. This was not even a funny start.

“I know who you are.”

It was then she realized Enzo was bleeding. She quickly rushed toward him, grabbing his arm and shoving all kinds of etiquette right out the window, as she started to pull him into the bathroom. At one point, she was pretty sure he reached for his gun.

Living with her father, who hung around the dredges of society, she was used to people with guns, and blood. She had lost count of the number of times she woke up screaming because her parents had gotten into a fight. Her mother always fought back. In the mornings, both her parents would be sporting black eyes, but her mother would get a tiny trinket out of it.

Harper hated life back home.

“Sit,” she said, forcing him to sit on the toilet. Living with a couple of brothers and in a world where everything always seemed to go wrong, she was not squeamish about blood.

She removed his jacket and saw there was a gunshot wound to his arm, but it had an entrance and exit.

“I need to call the doctor,” she said.

“Just patch it up.”

“And run the risk of it getting infected? Not a chance.” She pulled out her cell phone and dialed the number she’d been given in case of emergency. The man’s name was Kent, and she never asked any questions. She’d tell him the name, and he’d arrive in less than an hour, which was exactly what happened now, only Enzo refused to be in his bathroom when he arrived.
And I hate what he is making me and my two sisters do. Of course, Chiara and Viola love it. Anything to make them the center of attention. I don’t mind. While my sisters got my mom’s perfect gene, I got the one that drove my father crazy. They had beautiful blonde hair, slender figures. They walked into a room and men adored them instantly.

As for me, I heard I was called the ugly duckling of the family, with mousey-brown hair and brown eyes. I could look at a cupcake and gain three hundred pounds, or at least that was what it felt like. My sisters could eat what they wanted and never gain a pound. Trust me, I know this, because they liked to regularly tell me their weight and how gorgeous they looked. I do love my sisters, at least I think I do.

Love is that fickle emotion I’ve read about in books, but we’re talking about the love between a man and woman. When it comes to my sisters, I care about them and never want anything bad to happen to them. Anyway, both Chiara and Viola were excited about the situation we were in.

My name is Alba Marini, daughter of Roberto and Alice Marini. My father is a Capo in the Serra Mafia, and there are protocols. I’m not sure exactly what has happened, but it is up to my father to put one of his daughters forward for marriage. He has three daughters and two sons. Both my brothers were already married off. Marriage in the Serra Mafia is nothing more than a business contract.

We all know what goes on behind closed doors. My parents are somewhat of an anomaly within the Serra Mafia. They had an arranged marriage that by some twist of fate turned into a love match. My father doesn’t have a mistress, though I know a lot of men within the Serra Mafia have more than one woman on the go. The bonus about being the ugly duckling is you become invisible, which makes you forgettable. There are a lot of people who continue to have really deep, meaningful conversations while I’m still in the room within hearing distance.

There is a lot of stuff I know about the Serra Mafia that would make other people’s heads spin. My sisters only care about keeping to a lifestyle. They don’t know where that money comes from, but I do.

I know some of the servants are in fact trafficked. Men and women taken from their lives, beaten into submission, and then worked for no money. I hate it, but there’s nothing I can do. I’m bound by my heritage. The only thing I can do is leave money or gifts, and I certainly don’t allow anyone to take care of me. I clean up my own messes, and I don’t make their lives hard. In fact, there were a few servants at home I’ve taken the blame for when they broke cutlery, just so they wouldn’t get punished.

My parents were different in many ways, but not in the way their world worked. They were just as bad, just as involved as other Capos within the Serra Mafia.

So, what was different about this?

We stood in my father’s office, my sisters dressed like they were on dates. I was in my usual slacks, plain t-shirt, with a cardigan over the top. I held a book in my hand, and yes, it was a romance book, because why not? Life might suck, but books provided an outlet that nothing else could.

We’d just been told that Odin Kemp would be arriving in a matter of minutes, and one of us would become his wife.

Odin Kemp was not part of the Mafia. To many, he was a bastard. His name stoked fear and resentment across the whole Serra Mafia. I heard his name whispered as if he was some kind of bogeyman. I’d never seen anyone so feared, and yet Odin was the Devil. At times, it was like they were afraid to even mention his name. That fear made me curious.

I didn’t understand why I was here. He would never go for me since I was the ugly duckling of the family. There was a time that made me sad, but now I wear that badge with honor. I am who I am, and I’m not changing. I’m brown-haired, brown-eyed, with curves, and no man has ever looked at me with anything other than dismissal.

It was kind of funny when Chiara looked at me.

“You couldn’t at least try?” she asked.

Chiara was the prettiest, and she was also Daddy’s favorite. I was the youngest, Chiara the middle, and Viola the eldest. Our father said he was waiting for the right match.

The truth was, my two sisters were picky, and I had no prospects. At this rate, I was going to die a spinster, and I’d be happy about that. Only, I don’t want cats. I’m not a cat woman, I prefer dogs. I think it’s something about the fact cats would eat their owners when they die, whereas dogs would rather curl up against you and die with you. Morbid, I know, but I like that kind of loyalty. Dogs are loyal. They are loving, nothing like humans.
I saw her once.
That was all it took.
Now Callie West belongs to me.
She thinks I’m her protector. The man who rescued her when her life fell apart.
She doesn’t know I’ve been watching her for months.
Learning her habits.
Memorizing her smiles.
Planning a future she never agreed to.
When enemies from my past close in, Callie becomes a target. The safest place for her is with me.
The only problem?
The closer she gets, the more dangerous my obsession becomes.
Because I’ll do anything to keep her.
And once I claim what’s mine…
I never let go

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Evander Watson stared out across the parking lot, watching the bar that held the woman of his dreams, Callie West. The young woman had taken him by surprise and he wasn’t known to be easily surprised.

He glanced through the file he’d requested on her. He’d gotten it within hours of meeting her, giving him every detail of her life. She wasn’t on any social media, which shocked him as most young people were addicted to it.

Her bank statements showed most of her habits, aside from being broke. Callie lived a rather boring and sheltered life. She donated some of her money every month to select charities. She also volunteered at a local dog shelter in her free time. There was a charm on her purse of a dog.

He’d never known a kind, selfless woman like her in his circles. The only reason he stumbled across her was because he had to deal with some business where she worked. It wasn’t a popular joint, just a strip club that had seen better days. Callie worked behind the bar in a too-tight shirt, with men trying to grope her each night. He didn’t like it. She deserved so much better.

Slamming the file shut, he shoved it in the glove box before getting out of his car and heading toward the bar. There were a couple of cars in the parking lot and as he entered, he was overcome by the pungent scent of cigarette smoke, alcohol, and sex.

Like always, Callie was at the bar, serving beer while a woman swung her naked body around a pole on the stage. Callie’s blonde hair wasn’t up in a ponytail as it had been that first night, but cascaded around her shoulders. She looked like a fucking angel from heaven. A very curvy, heavenly angel.

His cock hardened at the sight of her. Several men were at the bar, and he knew those looks on their faces. One of them was there way too frequently for his liking. They were imagining her naked, but none of them were going to see her like that. Callie was all his. Every precious inch of her.

She placed a bottle of beer down in front of one of the men, and he grabbed her arm, pulling her close. She let out a little squeal, and anger rushed through Evander as he stepped in closer. He gripped the man’s wrist, applying just enough pressure to make a point. The asshole attempted to fight for dominance, trying not to show he was in pain. The fool.

“That is no way to treat a lady.”

“She’s no lady,” he said.

“You know what, Mitch, I think we should go and see Leah. She wants our money.” The guy who sat next to this fucker tried to play the peacekeeper.

Evander released the man’s wrist and waited. He hoped the bastard would take him on. No one touched Callie. And he was always up for a good fight.

They left, as did the rest of the men sitting at the bar.

“Wow, er, thank you,” Callie said.

He turned his full attention to her.

“How’s your arm?” he asked.

Callie looked down at herself and smiled. “It’s nothing. It’s all part of the job, right?”

“Dealing with asshole men, yes, I can see that.”

She laughed. “What can I get you?”

“A beer.” He had no intention of drinking.

“I think I recognize you. Do you come in here often?” Callie asked.

“Sometimes.” He’d been coming in most nights, but rarely did she see him. Callie didn’t need to know that for the past couple of months, he’d been stalking her. He knew all of her movements, what she liked, what she hated. Even some of her taste in music, which was not the same as his. She loved modern pop. He was more into soul. There was also a nineteen-year age gap, but age was just a number.

“I thought I recognized you. If you don’t mind me saying, this place is beneath you. I know a good bar a few blocks from here that would be more your style.”

“And why is that?” he asked.

“The suit. It’s designer, right? Trust me, we don’t get people like you in here that often. My boss tries to remember the glory days of years ago when it was the best thing going.”

“If you don’t like the place, why do you work here?”

“I can’t afford to be too picky. The job market isn’t exactly open for me right now.” She shrugged. “I go where I need to. Besides, I’m not afraid of a little hard work. You may not belong here, but I do.”

Evander thought of the file he had on her. Her mother died when she was eighteen, but before she moved to the city, she lived in a trailer park in a small town. He wanted to take her away from all of this. To fill her life with all the things she deserved.
Abigail Gardner is done being the “safe” girl her cheating ex claimed she was. To celebrate a year of freedom, she does something reckless—she walks into an exclusive sex club and spends one unforgettable night with a masked stranger.

Then the mask comes off.

Her mystery man is Roman Brown. Her older, billionaire boss.

Roman has wanted Abigail for far longer than she realizes, and now that he’s finally had a taste of her, he’s not willing to let her go. Abigail agrees to one rule: inside the office, they stay professional. Outside of it? Roman plans to worship every inch of her.

What starts as a no-strings fling quickly turns into something far more dangerous. Because Roman has secrets. Secrets tied to Abigail’s past. And when the truth comes out, their explosive chemistry may not be enough to save them

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Abigail Gardner couldn’t believe she was in a sex club on a rare Friday night off. First, she rarely had a Friday off, or any night for that matter. Working as a PA to Roman Brown was demanding work. He expected excellence at every turn, and he didn’t leave room for error. She’d been his PA now for nearly four years. She got the job after his last PA messed up accounts and was caught attempting to steal from him, as well as blackmail him. There was a lot going on four years ago, and Abigail applied for the position and got it.

Her boyfriend at the time hadn’t been happy. It meant she was suddenly earning more than him, as he’d been securing his reputation in a law firm. She worked longer hours and traveled the world. None of that mattered, because a year ago, she walked into their shared apartment to find him balls-deep into his secretary. She ended it right there and then, and much to her surprise, without much feeling.

Brad, her ex, had never been supportive of her. All he’d done was attempt to suck her dry. Each time she came home, he would complain about everything. They hadn’t slept together in over sixth months prior to it ending. His parting words to her, as she held open the door, were that she was a frigid, prudish, boring bitch. He literally said all three of those words.

One year later, giving herself a chance to get over him, even though there was not a lot to get over, now she was in a sex club. She didn’t know how she found this place, or that it even existed, yet here she stood at the bar, drinking pure orange juice, watching the open displays all around her.

She’d never been in a sex club. Over the years she’d been curious about them, but Brad had always said they didn’t need anything but each other. The sex with Brad had been okay. She figured she had a higher sex drive than him, and feelings had started to develop, so she got into a routine.

There was no routine now.

Even though she loved sex, she’d never just randomly slept with men. It’s what made this experience so insane.

Standing in her lacy red-and-black dress, she watched one of the displays as a woman kissed her way down a man’s body. His shirt was already off, and within a few seconds, she’d eased the man’s cock out of his pants, and he was rock-hard. Right there, in front of everyone, Abigail watched the woman take him into her mouth. He growled, sinking his fingers into her hair.

All of their faces were masked. On her entrance, the man at the door had said admission was for mask only. It would be her choice, if she wished to remove her mask once inside. She noticed some people already had, and others were still covered.

She liked being hidden.

She took a sip of her orange juice and felt someone come close to her.

“It’s a delightful scene, isn’t it?”

Abigail frowned, because something about that voice seemed familiar. She turned to look at a masked figure, and there was something still vaguely familiar about him, but she couldn’t put her finger on the why.

“Yes, it is.”

“Your first time?” he asked.

“How could you guess?”

“You’re watching. First timers like to watch, to see if this is the kind of club for them.”

She liked his voice. “Is it the kind of club for you?”

“Yes. I like to watch,” he said.

Abigail looked at him, and she marveled at the fact he ran his gaze down her body and back again. Part of her expected him to walk away. She was all curves, thick thighs, a fuller tummy, and she didn’t even want to discuss the size of her ass. She no longer hated her curves but had learned to embrace them. At thirty years old, she’d been on every single diet and exercise plan there was. She had never just accepted her body the way it was, until now.

This is what she’d been trying for a couple of years now. She didn’t care what the size tag said in her clothes, only that she looked good in what she purchased. She no longer attempted to drown herself in clothes that were too big.

“Would you like a tour?” he asked.

The old Abigail would have told him no, but tonight was about new experiences, and she was shocked by her instant hit of attraction to this man. He didn’t crowd her space. He’d not offered to buy her a drink.

“Yes, I’d like that,” she said.

“Good.” He held his hand out for her. “I promise I won’t bite, unless you ask for it.”

Abigail frowned, but then she placed her hand in his.

Her mystery man took her on a tour of the sex club, which was filled with many rooms. There was a larger bar, as well as dance floor, and a lot of couples in many different stages of nakedness.
