“No,” I say.

“It’s Sir for you, Hailey.” He grabs my ass again, this time even harder than before. “Say it again.”

“No, Sir.”

I moan out loud when he smacks me again.

“Good girl.” I can almost hear the smile in his voice.

I expect him to spank me some more, but his fingers are so gentle on my skin that it makes me relax. My muscles unwind from all the tension, but my pussy is thumping so hard I can feel it through my entire body.

When his hand disappears, I’m left struggling to breathe.

After a while, I look back over my shoulder.

He’s not even there anymore. He’s standing at another table, gathering pieces of paper and putting them in a stack.

Confused, I stand up again and pull my skirt back down. He doesn’t look at me, which surprises me, after what he just did.

Jesus Christ.

I can’t even think about it straight.

What just happened here?

I step back slowly, trying not to make a sound. As I turn, my eyes search the room, hoping I don’t find anyone who has been sneaking a peek. Luckily, I don’t see anything but a door, to which I immediately start to walk.

Right before I open the door, his voice booms once more through the room, reminding me who’s in charge. “I’ll see you Monday, Hailey. Don’t be late.”

Chapter 8

Hailey

“Cheers!” Lesley taps my cup with hers and then sips on her drink.

I smile at her but don’t immediately drink.

Normally, I wouldn’t hesitate to chug the alcohol, but I’m really not in the mood right now. The party is fine. Actually, it’s amazing. Lots of lights, loud music, people shouting and singing along. The mood is perfect, and on a Sunday night, I couldn’t ask for anything more.

But I’ve been feeling awkward in my own skin ever since that meeting with Thomas. No matter what I do, I can’t get into it. Whether it’s partying, going someplace, or even talking with Lesley. Nothing can take my mind off him, which makes me confused.

I shouldn’t be having these thoughts, let alone these feelings.

But fuck me … did it feel right when he had his hands all over me.

Am I supposed to want my professor?

Fuck, no.

And he’s definitely not supposed to spank his student.

So many things are wrong with this, on so many different levels, and still, I can’t stop thinking about it. Even now, it makes me blush. I don’t blush. Ever.

Fuck me. I’ve really lost it this time.

“You okay?” Lesley asks, pulling me from my thoughts.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking about tomorrow.”

“What’s tomorrow when you have today?” She bites her lip as she grabs my hand and pulls me back into the crowd. “C’mon, let’s dance.”

“I haven’t finished my drink,” I say, quickly taking a sip.

“Drink it while we dance, I don’t care. Just have fun and enjoy yourself. You obviously need it. You’ve been so tense lately.”

“Tell me about it,” I say, taking another sip as we walk to the middle of the dance floor.

“Something’s up with you,” she says. “You’re still hiding shit, aren’t you?”

I shrug and shake my head. “Nah. You’re delusional.”

“Right.” She smiles. “I’m gonna pull it out of you one day. Just wait.”

“Sure, you will,” I say, taking the last sip. “But first … let’s party!” I shout out loud, and the crowd goes along, then I throw my cup in the air and spin.

Like two crazy chicks, we dance, not giving a shit what anyone thinks of our wacky moves. I’m just doing my thing, shaking my hips, bobbing to the beat, and enjoying the music. I’m drifting away into my own wonderland where everything is perfect and tomorrow is a long way to go. I don’t wanna be anywhere but here—far, far away from reality and the homework I was supposed to do.

But somehow, that single thought pulls me right back into the moment. In my head, I still hear his voice, pushing me not to disappoint him.

Goddammit.

“Hey, I’m gonna grab another drink. Want one too?” Lesley asks.

“Nah, I’m good.”

She leaves and I continue to sway my hips in the air, not giving a shit who’s watching. Some dude dances beside me, and I don’t mind, as long as he doesn’t touch me. I’m game for talking, but no personal details, only fun things. If they ask me for a name, I don’t give them any. They call me the redhead or ‘that girl with the nose piercing,’ which is fine by me.

As long as they don’t get too close, I’m good.

After a while, I start to wonder where Lesley’s at. She’s probably getting smashed somewhere. I should probably stop her because she’s bad when it comes to alcohol. Pretty much the same as I am. We drink until we’re laughing our asses off, and then we go home.

Except I can’t fucking see her anywhere. Frowning, I search for her until I find her near the minibar, taking a beer from a dude I don’t even recognize, let alone know.
