Leaning forward, she pressed herself into his back so she wasn’t overheard. Exactly how she should be every time they were riding together: plastered against him. “Think they’ll give you a key?”

“Probably not. I get why they do it, but I don’t like being locked in here.”

“You’re not the only one,” she murmured. “If shit goes sideways, we’re stuck unless we can somehow escape on foot. But I haven’t scaled a fence that high in… Hell, never and there’s barbed wire on the top to boot.”

“Yeah. Noticed that when we met with their executive committee.”

“I’ll shoot first and ask questions later,” she whispered and used his shoulder to help her dismount.

They both wore ankle holsters since that was the only good place to hide a weapon. Fletch had a Glock 43 strapped to his right ankle, and a Timber Wolf Tactical knife sheathed in his left boot.

But none of their weapons were sufficient protection if the club decided to turn on them. Not only were they outnumbered, Fletch was damn sure everyone in that club and on the run were packing, whether it be a knife, handgun, brass knuckles, blackjacks, or whatever.

Again, he understood the need to protect themselves, but that still made him cautious. Even though he didn’t have anything personal against the DAMC and he gave them no reason to hate him, that didn’t mean he didn’t feel like an enemy in their midst.

“I’m surprised they didn’t tell us to get lost after the run. It’s about the optics.”

“You and me both,” he muttered, getting off the bike. “Let’s take advantage of tonight by paying attention and learning their speech and mannerism. Getting to know who’s who, in case one of the Demons decides to ask about someone, whether as a test or not, because tomorrow the Angels could tell us to fuck off and we might be on our own. It’ll make it a little more difficult if we’re kept on the outskirts. The more we know, the better.”

“Agreed,” she murmured, standing next to the bike. “Should we split up?”

“You comfortable with that?”

She shot him a look.

Of course she was.

“Just be aware, the members and ol’ ladies were told who we are since no one simply walks in off the street and gets handed a full set of patches. However, the sweet butts and the hang-arounds weren’t, just in case one of them has loose lips or is a plant from any other MC. Once the MC members were told, they weren’t supposed to discuss it again. To anyone. But that doesn’t mean shit.”

“Got it. So, if I get questioned by anyone not wearing a cut, should I just blow them off or should we get a story together?”

“The president told me that if anyone questions it, to say we patched over from the Blood Fury. That club is their ally up north. One DAMC member is married to a former Fury club girl and that couple took in a teen from the Blood Fury, too. So, it’s not unheard of for members crossing over, patched or not. It might not be perfect, but it’s the best excuse we have.”

“Got it. Why’d we move down here?”

Fletch scratched the back of his neck. He should’ve went over this with her prior to today. His mistake. “Your father’s been sick and we came down here to help take care of your parents.”

“That’s a lame excuse.”

“Look, can you come up with anything better? This shit was in your packet.” He reined in his impatience and threw an arm over her shoulders, steering them toward a gap in the bushes where everyone disappeared. He had to assume that led to the courtyard where the pig roast was being held. “Kitten’s originally from Shadow Valley, so it only makes sense to move home where you were needed. The backstory is, when we originally hooked up you moved north to be with me because you couldn’t resist the dick. Now, I’ve followed you back home since I didn’t want to give up such sweet pussy.”

He grinned when she shook her head and groaned.

He stopped near the line of tall evergreens that created a natural privacy fence. “Wrap your arm around my waist.” As soon as she did, he continued, “Men will move to the other side of the Earth for the right pussy.”

“Sad.”

“Yeah, well… Men get stupid over pussy, if you don’t already know. And don’t pretend that women don’t get stupid over dick.” He glanced down at her. “Ready?”

Once she nodded, they stepped through the gap and into the courtyard.

When they had met with Zak Jamison and his side-kicks, he hadn’t seen this part of the property. He had to admit, it was pretty damn impressive and a million times better than the tiny “courtyard” they had at the BAMC clubhouse.

At the far end was a real stage with a roof to protect whoever was using it from the weather. Massive speakers sat at both ends and it even had stage lights. All of it reminded him of a mini concert venue.
