Crosby Rhodes is turning out to be different from what I assumed. And I can’t decide if that’s a good thing or not. What I do know is that I’m horny as hell. The kiss we shared the other night coupled with what happened in my bedroom has sent my hormones into a frenzy. Even thinking about what it felt like to stand pressed against the French doors while he’d been on his knees, slowly running his hands up and down my body has heat flooding my panties and my core tightening with need.

Has anyone ever taken their time to carefully stoke the flames of my desire?

Most of the guys I’ve been with were out for one thing, and it was like a race to the finish line to get there.

For them.

For me, it ended in inevitable disappointment.

I get the feeling that sex with Crosby would be like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.

By the time I pull up in front of the building, I’m a jittery mess. Once I cut the engine, I gather up my clothes and purse from the passenger seat. By the time I turn around, Crosby is there, yanking open the driver’s side door and reaching for my hand.

Not once does he release me as we make our way to the entrance. When I slip the key into the lock, he pulls the handle and holds the door. A group of giggling girls trails in after us as we wait for the elevator.

From the corner of my eye, I watch them check out Crosby. I can’t blame them for their interest. He’s ridiculously handsome in his tux. Tall. Muscular. Broad in the shoulders with a tapered waist. There’s a lot of whispering amongst them as the elevator doors trap us inside together.

The boldest one flashes him a smile. In response, he slips his arm around my waist before tugging me against him and leisurely trailing his other hand up and down my spine. That’s all it takes for their quiet chatter to fade away. Once we reach my floor, the doors open, and he practically drags me into the hallway.

“Alone at last,” he mutters under his breath.

I can’t help the smile that springs to my lips. “Oh come on, I’m sure you must be used to all the attention.”

When he gives me a mock glare, I add, “Older women slipping their numbers into your pocket, coeds trying desperately to snag your attention… Just another normal night in the life of Crosby Rhodes, right?”

Before I can unleash any more teasing comments, he swings around and sweeps me off my feet. A squeak of protest escapes from me as my arms slip around his neck.

“Crosby! What are you doing?”

“What does it look like?” There’s barely a pause before he answers his own question. “I’m carrying you to your apartment.”

It only takes a handful of steps to reach my door. When he holds out his hand for the key, I give it to him without protest. After he shoves the thin metal into the lock and twists the handle, I’m brought inside. Darkness swallows us up as he closes the door. Silvery fingers of moonlight slant through the windows in the living room but don’t touch the entryway.

Even though I’m enjoying the closeness, I force myself to say, “You can put me down now.”

“What if I don’t want to?” he shoots back. “What if I want to keep you tucked safely in my arms.”

His softly spoken words break down the last of my resistance as I give into the urge to tunnel my fingers through his dark strands, pushing them away from his forehead and looking my fill.

It goes without saying that Crosby has a gorgeous face. Arresting, really, with eyes that are nearly black. If I’m not careful, I’ll end up drowning in their inky depths. Thick brows and angular cheekbones that lead to a strong, prominent jawline complete the picture.

My gaze unconsciously drops to the lip ring.

This obsession I have with it is ridiculous, but that doesn’t make it any less true. When his tongue peeks out to play with the thin slice of metal, liquid heat pools in my core.

“You like it, don’t you?”

There’s no need to ask what he’s talking about.

“Yes.”

Every time I’m around him, I find my attention getting snagged by the little silver hoop. The urge to run my fingers over the ring or kiss him so I can feel the smooth slide against my skin thrums through me. Just thinking about it has goosebumps breaking out across my flesh.

He must feel my reaction, because his arms tighten as he presses me closer until I can feel all of his steely strength. Arousal ricochets through my body, lighting up every nerve ending.

I don’t think I’ve ever wanted another guy more. Even though I’m not entirely sure if I trust him, I understand what’s going to happen tonight. It feels like there has been a combustible energy brewing between us for as long as we’ve known each other and only now has it turned explosive.
