Even if you had fantasized about getting a handful of it while she was on her knees with your cock in her mouth. Even if you’d also fantasized about it framing your face as she leaned over you as she rode you.

Fuck.

I needed to get a grip.

“That is better,” she admitted, shoving the wig back in her purse that now had room since the reusable bags were in the back full of her items.

To try to get my fucking mind right, I put the car in drive and started to pull out of my space.

“Does the air need to be this high?” she asked a moment later when I pulled off the main drag.

My gaze cut over to her, making me almost painfully aware of the way her nipples were pebbled up under the material of her bodice.

Her gaze followed mine.

I expected her to bring her arms in, to shield herself.

She didn’t.

“I thought you maybe wanted some cool air. After being so… overheated before.”

“I wasn’t overheated,” she insisted, then seemed to realize instantly what the other reason for that flush could be. She rushed to add, “I was… agitated.”

“Agitated. That’s what we’re calling it now,” I said, shooting her a smirk, but letting it drop as I reached to turn the air down a bit.

It may have been a long walk for her, but it was a too short drive.

This time, I drove the SUV all the way down to her darkened house, everything eerily still and quiet.

“Your windows are open.”

“Yeah.”

“It’s hot.”

“I don’t use the air conditioning if I can help it,” she told me, and I figured that had something to do with the solar.

“How do you sleep when it is this hot out?” I asked, putting the SUV into park, so I could look at her.

It was dark, but there was no mistaking the flush that crept up over her chest and across her cheeks again.

Not desire this time.

Embarrassment.

“Oh, yeah?” I asked, unable to keep the smile to myself. “Out of curiosity, is it that your window there?” I asked, pointing toward one of the lofts. “And do you happen to have a nightlight on? And, in a completely unrelated question, do you know where you can get a really powerful set of binoculars around town?”

That little twinkling laugh escaped her again, and when she looked at me, her smile was soft and sweet, all the usual guards seemingly gone.

Something about that look, yeah, it did me in.

One moment, we were just two people talking.

The next, we were all over each other.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Morgaine

He was charming, damn him.

I hadn’t really expected it, what with that darkness I could see lurking inside of him.

But it was there, rearing its all-too-appealing little head every now and again, catching me off-guard.

Off-guard was not somewhere I wanted to be around a man. Off-guard was dangerous.

Even knowing that, though, I couldn’t help but be, well, charmed by him.

There was just something that seemed, I don’t know, good about him. And, sure, I’d probably crossed “good” men before. So many times, though, I’d find that their so-called goodness came with expectations. They’d help you to your car because they wanted to ask you out. They’d sweet talk you at the office because they didn’t want you to know they were stealing your promotion out from under you.

I was used to ulterior motivations for kindness.

And as much as, sure, there was some kind of heat between us, I got the feeling that he was just… decent.

Wonders would never cease, it seemed.

But then he had to go and open his mouth about me sleeping naked, making my mind flash back to all the times I’d been in that loft naked, thinking of his hands, of his mouth, of the weight of him on top of me.

One second, nothing was happening. We were just looking at each other.

The next, his hand was grabbing the back of my neck and yanking me closer over the top of the center console as his lips slammed down on mine.

Hard.

Hungry.

Borderline painful.

But everything inside me melted, sank into the sensations, got completely lost in them.

Until I found myself climbing over the center console to drop down in his lap.

Crow’s hand slipped from my hip to slide the seat all the way back before his arm went around me, crushing me to his chest.

My hips dropped lower, feeling his hard cock press against the juncture of my thighs, making my hips do an immediate grind against him, getting a growl from him to vibrate through my chest even as my sex clenched hard at the contact.

Crow’s hands left my neck and back, moving down to gather the hem of my skirt and yank it up and out of the way before grabbing my hips, using them to guide me to keep grinding against him.

A low, throaty moan vibrated against his lips as the need got stronger and stronger, begged for more, demanded release.
