Siren shook her head. “No, if you’re working the bar, that’s your only job. No one wants to check if you washed your hands after giving Puck a hand job. It wouldn’t be very hygienic.”

They were just discussing sixsomes, and they’re worried about hygiene? Their lack of inhibitions showed the vastly different ways between how they regarded sex and how she did.

“Since we’re on the topic of hygiene, the brothers have to wear condoms. There are plenty around the club. Wizard makes sure there’s a supply in the pantry. I’ll show you the pantry when we’re done talking.”

Siren pulled out a cardboard box from under the counter then took out a handful of condoms, placing them in what Arden had thought was a straw box at the end of the counter. Coming back, she took the whole condom box she had pulled out and carried it back to the end of the bar to dump the contents inside.

“Last night was busy. Hawk came back from San Francisco. All the brothers came to welcome him back.”

Lola and Kat nodded.

“Plus, it was a Friday night.”

“Fridays are normally busy?”

“Fridays are special around here. We allow inside anyone over twenty-one who wants to party and get their foot into the door to become a Last Rider,” Siren explained. “I don’t know how you managed to get invited to become a member without coming to one of the parties…”

Arden opened her mouth to tell her about Luc, but Siren put her hand up to stop her.

“Normally, the only way to become a prospect is being friends with a Last Rider or having attended one of our Friday parties, and one of the members asks if you want to join. Men can become a prospect at eighteen, women at twenty-one. You need to keep in mind that the men are looking to get laid, not to fall in love. You get possessive over one of the brothers, it will be the quickest way to be shown the door. All of us here want the freedom and excitement of fucking who we want to fuck, when we want to, and how we want, without anyone standing on the moral high ground, casting judgments. If you don’t want to fuck a certain Last Rider, you don’t have to. You don’t even have to fuck for votes, if you don’t want to join. You just won’t be privy to club business. The Last Riders want you to earn their trust, and vice versa—whatever goes on in the club stays in the club. We have church meetings once a week where we discuss and settle shit. Wizard doles out the punishments, so beware—you don’t want to piss him off by breaking the rules.” Siren gave a long-winded sigh. “Which you would already know if you hadn’t skipped the line and came to one of our parties.”

Arden opened her mouth to explain, but Siren clutched the rag in her hand tighter with a glare.

“I do not need to know,” she said slowly and distinctly. “I’m leaving after this shift is over.” Siren turned her other hand to show her engagement ring. “I’m getting married.”

“Congratulations.”

“Thanks. I’ve had a blast here, but when Vandal gets off work, he wants me raring to go, not fucked out from the other brothers.”

Arden ran her finger across the bridge of her nose between her eyes, closing them, wishing she were in an Amazon rainforest, not here. She wished some poisonous bug would just put her out of her misery. How was she ever going to get out of this mess she had talked herself into?

Arden opened her eyes and pressed her dry lips together. “Is there anything else I need to know?”

“I don’t think so. Wait… Did I mention you need to get an all-clear from your gyno that you don’t have anything catching?”

“Catching?” Arden focused her eyes back on Siren.

Even Kat’s gaze had become pitying. “Any sexual diseases. Until you get a blood test stating you’re clean, none of the brothers will touch you.”

At least there was one bright spot. It would take her at least a month to get an appointment.

Siren went to the mirror where the liquor bottles lined the wall, grabbing a small card tucked into the side then handing it to her. “This is the gynecologist most of the girls use. She parties here every so often. You can call her on Monday. She’ll fit you in.”

“Thanks.” Arden gingerly took the card.

“Make sure you put the card back after you write the number down. It’s nice to have handy.”

“I bet it is,” Arden said drily.

All three women smiled at her attempt at humor.

“Do the men get tested, too?”

“Oh yes.” Kat’s smile widened. “Of course, their tests come free of charge.”

Arden knew what she wanted to do with the card. She wanted to wad it up and shove it down…
