A low rumble sounded from my chest as I quickly flipped us around and laid her back on the bench. I smirked at her. “Better hope none of Alejandro’s men come in.” I smirked. “I’ll enjoy spanking that pretty ass of yours red if they see any part of you that they shouldn’t.”

“How—what—” she spluttered, “that wouldn’t be my fault!” she exclaimed as I unsnapped her jeans.

I licked my lips as I tugged her jeans down her legs. “You’re the one that wanted more,” I teased her.

“That’s not—oh, fuck,” she moaned as I slid my fingers into her panties and slid them over her slit. She arched her back, her breath leaving her on a shudder.

“What was that, baby?” I asked her, my voice rough. Fuck, she was soaked.

“Nothing.” She moaned again. “I’ll take the spanking. Please don’t stop,” she begged me.

I yanked her panties off of her and kneeled down, yanking her ass to the edge of the bench. She hooked her legs over my shoulders. “Never, baby,” I promised.

With that, I buried my face between her legs.

“Fuck!” I roared as I clutched at my gut, my vision turning white with pain.

Alejandro knocked me to the ground, and his men surrounded us as he pulled me off to the side. This was supposed to have been a quick, easy exchange, but now, I was fucking shot.

“What the fuck, Alejandro?!” I shouted at him. Fuck, I was losing so much goddamn blood. I was pretty sure that bullet had hit something vital.

“I didn’t know!” he shouted at me. “Mierda! You’re losing too much fucking blood.”

“Goddammit, Alejandro, what the fuck happened?” I growled as I squeezed my eyes shut, trying not to yell in pain as Alejandro pulled me behind a large storage container. He ripped my shirt open and yanked his blazer off, using it to apply pressure to my wound.

“Someone fucking found out about the exchange. Fuck, I need to get you to the hospital, or you’re not going to fucking make it.”

If there was a chance I wasn’t going to make it, I needed to talk to my woman.

“Call Jessie,” I told him. Already, my vision was beginning to turn black at the sides, but I was doing my damnest to stay conscious, at least until I talked to her.

“Ink—" he started, but I shook my head at him, gritting my teeth. I was getting too fucking lightheaded, and he was wasting time.

“Call Jessie.”

He looked at one of his men as he dropped down next to us. “Fucking get the goddamn SUV. We have to get him to the hospital,” he ordered to his second in command as he yanked his phone out of his pocket.

Santiago nodded and jumped up as the gunshots died down. Alejandro pressed Jessie’s name on his phone and put it on speaker. “What?” Jessie grumbled when she answered the phone.

Fuck, my vision was getting dark.

“Baby,” I groaned, “fuck. Something happened. Alejandro will explain. Just wanted you to know I fucking love you. Stay strong and take care of yourself,” I ordered.

I closed my eyes, everything going dark. But the last thing I heard was her screaming my name, her voice laced with panic.

Jessie

I rushed into the hospital, two of Alejandro’s guards hot on my heels. My face was wet with tears, and my heart was in my throat. I felt like I was hardly breathing. All I could feel was panic—pure panic.

Alejandro quickly strode towards me as I rushed inside the waiting room. I sobbed, my knees giving out beneath me. He quickly caught me in his arms, lifting me against his chest. “Ink?” I sobbed.

“In surgery, Jessie,” Alejandro told me softly.

He gently set me in a chair. “What happened?” I cried. “He’s always so careful. Nothing like this ever happens.”

Alejandro clenched his jaw. “We were ambushed. Someone ratted.”

Fury rushed through my veins. I jumped up from my chair and slapped him, more tears sliding down my cheeks. He clenched his jaw and slowly turned his head back around to face me. “This would have never happened if he was with Joey!” I screamed at him. I beat on his chest, crying so hard that I could hardly breathe, could hardly focus. “This is all your fault!”

Alejandro just stood there, even put up a hand to one of his guards when he got ready to pull me off of him. I swung around to face the man, glaring at him through my tears. “Touch me, and I’ll put a bullet through your fucking skull with your own gun,” I snarled at him.

“Mr. Garcia?” a surgeon asked as he stepped out of the back of the hospital.

Alejandro looked down at me. “If I take you over there with me to speak to Ink’s surgeon, can I trust you to be on your best behavior?”

“Burn in hell,” I sneered at him.
