Canyon “Blitz” Madsen didn’t believe in mercy. When the Redline Kings MC secretary learned one of his prospects was an undercover fed, he planned to seduce the agent’s innocent younger sister as revenge. But he ultimately decided it was a line he wouldn’t cross.

Then he met Aubrey Cullen and knew leaving her alone wasn’t an option. One look at the sweet nanny, and Blitz was gone. Now caught between the secret that could destroy them and the fierce need to protect her, he’ll do anything to keep Aubrey safe—even working with the FBI brother he once wanted to destroy

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

BLITZ

Istepped out of Jax’s office—the tech genius for my MC—letting the heavy door swing shut behind me. I moved into the hallway and braced my shoulder against the wall, staring at the opposite one without really seeing it. A heavy tension had settled deep in my gut, like an anchor dragging me down. I knew this feeling. It was fucking betrayal.

The realization twisted into anger, confusion, and frustration. A prospect I’d brought into the fold, a man I’d called a friend and soon-to-be brother, was something else entirely. Tripp was something dangerous. And hidden.

As secretary for the club, I oversaw prospect development and evaluated whether they were truly Redline Kings material. Knowing I’d fucked up so spectacularly was like swallowing jagged glass.

Fuck!

I blew out a slow, measured breath and rubbed a hand roughly over my jaw, replaying it all back from the very beginning.

I’d met Tripp at an underground race months back. Our MC was built on and surrounded by the racing culture. Motorcycles, cars, legal races, and illegal ones—we had our hands in all of it.

Our president, Kane, was a world-renowned racer. Despite being big for a driver, he was known for his sharp reflexes and calm dominance. His body knew exactly how to handle any motorcycle or race car he drove without having to think about it. Then he won enough races to gain the capital to build his own racing teams and eventually tracks. Combining all of that with smart investments, he’d become a billionaire and a fucking giant in the industry—controlling the professional and underground racing world in the South the way the DeLuca crime family ruled New York.

Everyone knew not to fuck with Kane or his brother, Edge, our VP. And when they founded the Redline Kings, he hadn’t even been given a road name. He’d built his reputation as a fair but merciless, lethal motherfucker, so definitively that his real name became synonymous with fear and respect. When people heard “Kane,” they already knew who the hell it was.

Tripp had raced that first night, landing an impressive fourth place. Not dominant enough to trigger suspicion, but clearly talented. I’d come in second, finishing just behind Edge. Afterward, I’d approached the newcomer, teasing him good-naturedly about finishing fourth.

Tripp had taken the ribbing easily, flashing a quick grin and giving as good as he got. That night had started our friendship.

From then on, we’d hang out frequently after races, sharing drinks and jokes and forging a strong camaraderie. Soon, I started bringing him around the club socially and introducing him to the brothers. He’d fit in surprisingly well.

Eventually, I’d suggested prospecting. Kane told Jax to run a background check on him. Everything had checked out—family, old addresses, etc. His employment history had been thin, but he’d won enough races for us to assume he lived mostly off the purses he’d earned

Tripp had quickly earned the club’s trust. He was funny, laid back, and undeniably talented, but something about him had always seemed just slightly off. I’d attributed it to past trauma, sensing that Tripp carried some unseen weight that he didn’t share openly.

But as time passed, more subtle inconsistencies emerged.

Looking back now, the first time I should have noticed something was off was when we went to the gun range. We always took prospects to assess their ability with weapons so we knew who could be sent on certain runs, and if they were eligible for certain roles, like being an enforcer.

Tripp had obviously had weapons training, and when I inquired about it, he told me it was from learning to hunt with his dad. But that wouldn’t explain his expert marksmanship with handguns. And while Tripp’s dossier showed that he had a concealed weapons permit, he’d mentioned that he didn’t own a gun.

I noticed Tripp avoiding conversations about family and deflecting any questions that became too personal. He redirected attention quietly, carefully keeping the focus off himself. I initially chalked it up to private struggles, but now it seemed far more deliberate.

Then the federal raid had happened. A warehouse just outside Crossbend, sitting near a critical transport corridor used by the MC’s operations, had been busted wide fucking open. The feds discovered that it was a major hub for laundering, trafficking, and weapons operations.

The Redline Kings had zero ties to that warehouse or its activities, but it didn’t matter. The warehouse sat dangerously close to routes frequently traveled by the club’s vehicles—transport rigs, security teams, and race equipment.

In hindsight, it was obvious that federal surveillance had captured Kings-affiliated vehicles repeatedly moving through the area. The feds wouldn’t have realized it was coincidental—they would have begun building a case, theorizing a connection between the warehouse operations and Kane’s empire. It was exactly the kind of misunderstanding that could’ve done massive damage.

Except it didn’t.

Because just before the raid went down, Tripp had brought unusual activity to Kane’s attention—strange vehicles parked near the transport route, unfamiliar surveillance gear, and odd movements along the corridor. At the time, it seemed exactly what a loyal, observant prospect would do, eager to prove himself to the club. Kane had agreed it felt off and had promptly rerouted all Kings-related vehicles through alternate routes as a precaution.
I’m losing the fight to protect my daughter from invisible monsters. Cash may be our only hope.

Eliza – My daughter Lily’s plagued with mysterious injuries. We’ve spent far too much time in the ER. Doctors push me away when I ask for answers. Insurance denies our claims. Then Child Services decides I’m the monster. I’m out of options — until Cash steps between us and the people trying to tear us apart. He’s dangerous – a biker and an ex-con. He’s also the first person who believes me. And that might be the most dangerous thing of all.

Cash — Prison taught me to keep my head down, not get attached. Then court-ordered community service puts me in a pediatric ward, where a terrified little girl with a pink cast asks me to sing her to sleep. Lily isn’t mine. Her mother, Eliza, isn’t my problem. Except the second I see the system closing in on them, I know better. Eliza isn’t hurting her daughter. She’s fighting for Lily with everything she has. But when no one else listens, I bring in Kiss of Death, Haven, and every weapon we have that doesn’t require blood on the floor. Yet the more I try to protect them, the harder it is to pretend I don’t want them both

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Cash

I pushed through the sliding glass doors of Nashville General with my shoulders squared, wearing my Kiss of Death cut proudly. I’d spent five years inside Terre Haute, and my parole dictated I do community service. Thanks to the lawyer who worked with the club’s women’s shelter, Haven, I got stuck here. A few hours three times a week seemed a light sentence considering all I’d dealt with the last five years, so I took it. Even if I didn’t particularly like it. My boots squeaked against the polished floor as I made my way to the service elevator, ignoring the disapproving glances following my leather cut.

The security guard at the front desk raised his eyebrows but nodded at me. We’d reached an understanding after my first week. He knew I was here on court-mandated community service, and I knew he was watching me. Neither of us liked the arrangement, but we respected the boundaries.

“Evening, Cash,” he said, checking my ID badge against his clipboard.

“Good day?” I kept my voice neutral, careful not to reveal how much I hated being here. The badge clipped to my cut read “Volunteer,” a joke if there ever was one. Nothing voluntary about my presence.

He shrugged. “Same as always.” It was our standard exchange.

The elevator doors slid open, and I stepped inside, pressing the button for the fourth floor. Pediatrics. Of all the places they could have stuck me, they put me on the kids’ wing. I suspected the suggestion had been Lana Thompson’s doing.

Lana had negotiated this particular hell for me, thinking she was doing me a favor. Better than highway trash pickup, she’d said. I wasn’t convinced. But Lana had a way of making things happen. The lady lawyer had connections everywhere, from courthouse to clubhouse. She typically stuck to legal counsel for Haven’s residents but occasionally helped a brother out.

The elevator chimed, and the doors opened to a burst of primary colors. Cartoon characters paraded across the walls, their frozen smiles at odds with the serious business of healing sick kids.

“There he is,” The charge nurse, Paula, looked up from her station. The woman typically had a permanent scowl on her face. Except when she looked at me. “Our favorite volunteer.”

“At your service.” I tipped an imaginary hat, playing the role she expected. Harmless flirtation was part of my shield, keeping people at a comfortable distance while making them think they knew me. I’d perfected the technique when I used to perform in every bar in Nashville. Served me well now.

Paula pushed a clipboard across the counter. “Same routine today. Floors need mopping in the east wing, then stock the supply closets.”

I signed the form without looking at it. “Any special requests?” I kept my voice light, playing along with the fiction I was just another volunteer, not an ex-con working off his debt to society.

“Just try not to scare the parents this time.” Her tone was joking, but I caught the seriousness underneath. My presence tended to make people nervous, which was why I worked in the evenings. The tattoos crawling up my neck, the general aura of threat I carried without trying all screamed danger to the middle-class folks whose kids ended up here for whatever reason. I figured those parents had more to worry about than some creeper with a mop, so I had no problem doing my service whenever they thought appropriate.

“I’ll do my best impression of a choirboy.” I flashed a grin, making her roll her eyes, though I caught the ghost of a smile she tried to hide.

The supply closet was my first stop. I gathered the mop, bucket, and cleaning supplies. The bucket wheels squeaked as I pushed it down the corridor toward the east wing, the sound louder than it should have been in the otherwise quiet hallway.

The hall lighting had been dimmed and safety runner lights lined the hallway’s floors. The staff tried to keep lighting minimal for patient comfort.

I worked my way from the far end of the corridor and moved backward toward the nurses’ station. A young nurse walked past, her shoes making soft padding sounds on the wet floor. She smiled shyly and I nodded back, watching as she continued down the hall, looking back over her shoulder once before disappearing inside the medication room.

I was halfway down the hall when a doctor walked through my freshly mopped section, leaving footprints in his wake. He didn’t acknowledge me, didn’t apologize. I gripped the mop handle tighter, my knuckles whitening around the wood. In prison, disrespect had consequences. Out here, I had to swallow it.

“It’s not just you,” a voice said behind me. A female aide with tired eyes pushed a cart of linens past. “He ignores everyone and everything.”

I forced my fingers to relax as I smiled at the woman. “Good to know.”
It was a terrible idea to agree to protect my enemy’s sister…

The second she stepped out of her brother’s car, I knew she was a wildfire.
Spitting mad and so stunning she stole my breath.
She thinks her brother made a deal with the devil, and by working for me, she’s paying off his debt.

She doesn’t know the real reason she’s here.
Doesn’t know the danger that surrounds her.
Soon, she realizes there is something sinister lurking in the shadows.

She hates me for keeping her in the dark.
I want to hate her back, but with every sassy thing that fires from her mouth, she gets deeper under my skin.
With each heated glance, I feel myself losing control.
And when I crawl into bed with her, I combust.

I know better than thinking I can keep her. My life is nothing but secrets and peril.
But as outside threats begin to infiltrate, I’ll do anything to keep the oath I made to keep her safe.
Even expose her to the monster that I am…

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

ONE

SILAS

It was a little before five when I stepped out from an open bay at Torque & Talon Autobody Shop, wiping my hands on an oil-stained rag.

My guts in fuckin’ knots as I let my attention travel over the gravel drive that led onto the property.

I squinted against the sunlight pouring from above. A thick, stagnant heat saturated the summer air and slicked my skin in sweat.

Or maybe it was just the irritation boiling inside me that made me feel like I was getting burned alive.

Trevan was already out there, leaning against the white exterior wall and sipping from a bottle of beer.

His own anxiety rolled from his burly frame as he eyed me from the side.

“You think this is a good idea?” he finally asked, hard voice cutting through the tension, verbalizing the same damned thing I’d been asking myself all day.

A heavy sigh pilfered from between my lips as I looked in his direction.

Dude was pure beast.

Dark brown hair and even darker eyes. A mountain of muscle that was covered in ink and oozing the type of ferocity required of my second in command.

He was also my oldest friend. With me from childhood. I trusted him more than anyone else.

I scoffed at my own expense. “Afraid it might be one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made.”

Inviting more danger onto our property than we were already facing.

We’d packed our shit and left Moonlit Ridge to get my sister farther away from the bullshit I’d gotten us mixed in there, and we’d come here to Crimson Creek, a small town in Southern Oregon.

But it seemed no matter where I went, peril loved to hunt me down.

He took another swig of his beer, dark eyes narrowed back at me. “Then why are you making it?”

He was the only one with balls big enough to question me. More than that? He was the only one who’d earned the right to do it.

“He was intrinsic in saving my sister. I owe him the favor.”

Trevan chuckled a disbelieving sound. “Thought that favor was leaving him alive? Not that the bastard won’t end up dead, anyway.”

Air heaved from my lungs, and I sank back against the wall next to him as I dove frustrated fingers through my hair. “Have to believe there is some kind of good in him since he came to me and offered the information.”

“Or did he know he was a dead man otherwise?”

Uncertainty bound up my insides.

I considered myself a damned good judge of character. You didn’t live long with a life like mine if you weren’t.

But there was something about Dereck Webber that I couldn’t put my finger on.

Instinct told me he couldn’t fully be trusted.

“Don’t know. But the one thing I do know is that his sister is innocent of the whole thing.”

Trevan’s brows raised like he was questioning that, too. “You sure about that?”

“As far as I know, she doesn’t know a thing.”

Was clueless as to what her brother was really involved in.

“Only thing that matters is that this arrangement gets us what we need,” I insisted. “He’d never dish if he didn’t think he was getting something out of it.”

Incredulity heaved out of Trevan. “There are other ways to get information out of someone.”

“Can’t take the chance that he would remain tight-lipped before Phoenix killed him.”

Phoenix was the club’s sergeant at arms.

Amused agreement huffed from Trevan before he shook his head. “You’re breaking every fuckin’ one of your own rules, man. You know that, right?”

I scrubbed a palm over my face. “Yup.”

It didn’t matter, though. With one thought of my baby sister, Elena, I knew what I had to do.

Dereck Webber might have been a low-life scumbag piece of shit, but when he’d had the barrel of my gun shoved down his throat, his one concern had been his sister.

To me, that counted for something.

“As long as you don’t mind when I tell you ‘I told you so’,” Trevan goaded around another gulp of his beer.

“As long as you don’t mind when I kick your ass when you do it,” I tossed back.

“Would like to see you try.”

Fucker tried to hide his grin before he sobered. “Seriously, though. I get it. Just worried it’s gonna bring us trouble, and God knows we already have plenty of that.”

Nah, trouble wasn’t anything new to us.

Being a part of a brutal MC tended to do that to you, and you could be sure the Crimson Crows were no strangers to strife and turmoil.

Funny that motorcycle club acted as a front for what we really did. The minor crimes we let fly flagrant used as a distraction from the monsters we became under the shadows of the night.

But it was my one big fuckup that brought us here, and I’d do anything I had to in order to rectify it.

“We’ll handle it if it comes to that,” I told him. “We always do.”

As the man who kept the Redline Kings’ garage running smooth, Gauge fixed bikes and stayed out of trouble. Until Riley Mercer rolled into Crossbend. One look at the sassy beauty with car trouble, and Gauge knew she was his.
He gave Riley the job she desperately needed, but when he found out she was on the run from the law, Gauge didn’t fire her. He protected her. Now he’ll clear her name so he can claim the only woman who’s ever matched him under the hood

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

RILEY

When my mom warned me that my dedication to my job would be the death of me, she’d meant the hours I put in. Not what I stumbled across tonight. But I really wished we were close enough that I hadn’t shrugged off her concern because then maybe I wouldn’t have accidentally discovered physical inventory shortages on high-value performance parts.

Wondering what the heck was going on, I headed to my boss’s office. When I found his son there instead, I almost changed my mind about saying anything. Shawn wasn’t my favorite person at the garage, but Tim had been giving him more responsibility over the past few months.

I’d been irritated by that decision because Shawn didn’t take his job very seriously. He was kicked back in his dad’s chair like he already owned the place, scrolling on his phone.

He didn’t even bother to look up as he murmured, “What do you need?”

“For you to do your job,” I muttered.

His head jerked up, his eyes narrowing. “What the hell are you complaining about?”

I strode forward, stopping behind one of the chairs in front of the desk. “When your dad handled the inventory, there weren’t huge mistakes like this.”

His gaze zeroed in on the clipboard I was holding. “You shouldn’t poke around where you don’t belong.”

“I belong here more than you do,” I shot back. “Customers ask for me by name. I’ve been building bikes and tuning cars since I was eighteen. You just sign the checks your daddy gives you.”

His grin faltered, but that didn’t stop him from blustering. “You have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about.”

I dropped the paperwork onto the desk. “The wiring harness this shows for the Conrad job I did last week is wrong. Same with the dog-box transmission. The parts listed are half the cost of what I actually used.”

He shook his head. “You’re wrong.”

“Wrong?” I echoed, my eyes widening. “That’s not possible. I selected each part and installed it myself.”

Leaning back in his chair, he crossed his arms over his chest. “That’s not what the records show.”

“Only because you messed up.” A horrible possibility crossed my mind. “Please tell me you didn’t charge them for the cheaper parts listed. That’d mean we lost sixty thousand on the job instead of making a healthy profit.”

“That’s none of your damn business,” he growled. “You’re a performance technician. Focus on the cars. I’ll handle the rest.”

“Your dad—”

Slamming his hands on top of the desk, Shawn stood. “Leave my father out of this.”

“But he—”

“Won’t believe a word you say.” He flashed me a smug smile. “I’m his son. The one he trusts to run this place.”

“And you’re already proving he shouldn’t have if you’re making giant mistakes like this.”

“It’s a good thing you’re good with engines because you’re not as smart as you think you are.” Something ugly flashed in his eyes. “Go running to my dad, and you’ll find your name all over this shit.”

My head reared back. “What?”

“I’ve been planning for this, sweetheart. Paper trail’s already pointing straight at you. Parts signed out under your login. Deposits that look like you were skimming. Hell, I even made a couple of transfers from an account with your name on it.”

This was even worse than I’d thought. None of this was a mistake. Shawn was embezzling from his own father’s business. “You’re bluffing.”

“Am I?” He circled the desk. “You say one word to my old man or the cops, and you’re the one going down. I’ll make sure of it. And trust me—you really don’t want to get tangled up with the people I’ve been paying off with that money. Those guys don’t play nice. They make problems disappear. Permanently.”

The threat landed how he wanted. Racing shops attracted all kinds, and some of them had dangerous connections that went way beyond the track. “You’re a piece of crap, Shawn.”

He smirked. “Maybe. But I’m a piece of shit who’s covered his ass. Run along, Riley. Keep your mouth shut, and maybe I’ll let you keep your job. Or don’t. Either way, you’re fucked.”

I turned and walked out, my mind racing faster than any car on the dyno. I had one chance to get out before everything I’d built went up in flames. Heading straight to the bay next to mine, I plugged the USB drive I kept on my keychain for diagnostics into the workstation's computer. It was mainly used to look up OEM or aftermarket technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and parts specs. But there was access to other systems too, so I copied every suspicious file I could find and yanked the drive out before Shawn realized what I was doing.

My hands didn’t shake as I grabbed my best tools from my bay and some stuff from my locker. Then I slipped out the back door where my car waited in the employee lot. I popped the trunk and loaded everything inside. After a quick stop at my apartment, I hit the nearest ATM to pull out as much cash as I could. Even using the app to increase my daily withdrawal limit, I could only pull out a few thousand dollars, but it was enough to disappear for a little while.
Maeve Summers wants the one thing money and success can’t buy—a family of her own.
Doc can’t stop thinking about Maeve. What starts as an unexpected match arranged by his ex-wife soon becomes an irresistible attraction neither of them can deny. Their secret romance is everything Maeve has ever wanted—until danger threatens to destroy it.

When someone targets the people closest to them, Doc must fight to protect his daughter, his ex-wife, and the woman he’s fallen for.
With time running out and everything on the line, will love be enough to save them all?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

“So, are you here because you want to hang out and get a free makeover, or because you’re hiding from your parents and want to piss them off?” Maeve Summers asked her non-paying client, Charlotte.

She loved putting makeup on people. It was what she did for a living, and she was very good at it. It was why she’d been able to fly all around the world. She had clients who loved her work and would pay to fly her to where they needed her. It had been a lot of fun. She’d fallen in love with makeup as a little girl, and that love never stopped.

“I’m not trying to piss them off. I’m just ... taking a break.”

The last people Maeve wanted to piss off were Nancy and Doc. Nancy was a good woman, sweet and kind, but Doc was the Prez of the Chaos Monsters MC. The guy was deadly. She was pretty sure monsters feared him. Not that he’d done anything to scare her or even intimidate her. Far from it.

“You need a break from your parents?”

“They’re hounding me to make so many decisions, and I don’t know what to do. I think my mom’s trying to get me to leave town, and my dad wants me to stay. It’s all confusing. This shouldn’t be so confusing.”

“They care, honey. That’s what parents do.”

Charlotte looked at her and saw that she was going to argue with her, but all too soon, she stopped.

“Crap, I’m so sorry.”

“You have nothing to be sorry about.”

“But your and Eden’s parents—”

“Don’t worry about it.”

“That was so insensitive of me.”

Maeve offered her a smile. Her and Eden’s parents had died over ten years ago. A drunk truck driver had plowed into them, killing them instantly. At the time, Eden was fifteen years old, and Maeve was twenty, as there were five years between them. She’d already started earning money from being a makeup artist, and thankfully, their parents had left them some money to get through. They sold the family home and moved into this cul-de-sac in a really nice neighborhood filled with families, in Rivermont Ridge.

She and Eden had a good life. For a long time, it had been just her and Eden, but now it was her, Eden, and Razor, Eden’s husband.

The wedding had just been a couple of weeks ago, and currently, Eden and Razor were enjoying a well-deserved honeymoon. Everything had gotten rushed with the wedding when Eden discovered she was pregnant.

For the first time in her life, she was home and she was alone. Charlotte’s company was well-needed. She adored the young woman, who’d not long left high school and was trying to figure out what she wanted to do with the rest of her life.

Maeve reached out and put a hand on hers. “Stop it. It wasn’t insensitive. My parents were amazing, but they were also workaholics, and to be honest, most of the time it was just me and Eden. I never felt the need to escape my parents. All I can say is Nancy and Doc adore you. However, I don’t know if they feel the same way about me. Text or call them, let them know where you are, so they don’t panic.”

She grabbed their empty cups and made her way into the kitchen. They’d already enjoyed a hot chocolate with whipped cream.

Opening the fridge, she couldn’t help but fist pump the air. There was still some leftover ice cream. She really needed to get to the store and pick up groceries, otherwise she was going to starve. The ice cream was soft scoop, and she grabbed a scoop to start dishing out some for them both.

“I’ve let Mom and Dad know,” Charlotte said, letting out a sigh. “Dad’s on his way to come and pick me up. Mom’s upset that I didn’t go back home.”

She wrinkled her nose. “I’m sorry, but it is good to tell them. Do you want some ice cream?”

“Yes, please.”

Charlotte was still pouting.

“Okay, so while we’re enjoying our ice cream, you tell me what the problem is.” She scooped some ice cream and placed it in her mouth, and it felt so good on her tongue as it melted. She couldn’t help but close her eyes at the delicious taste.

“I can either go to college here in Rivermont Ridge, and take some classes, or Mom has suggested I look at a college out of state, which I don’t want to do.”

“What do you want to do?” Maeve asked.

“I don’t know. Do you think I could work for you?”

Maeve smiled. “Being a makeup artist sounds like a lot of fun, and trust me, if you love makeup and having a lot of clients, it’s great, but there is so much more you’ve got to learn.”

“Like what?”

“Like knowing a person’s skin tone, whether they’re warm, neutral, cool, or olive, and a lot more. Understanding color palettes, learning styles and techniques, and what’s in fashion right now. There is so much to learn and keep on top of. The products as well—which foundation works well with a particular skin care. It’s more than just slapping it on and hoping for the best.”
Pez is the dependable guy, the one everyone depends on.
But he has secrets, and they go so deep he may never be free of them.

When one shows up unexpectedly, it might destroy everything he's struggled to build

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Pez:

Betrayal cuts the deepest when it’s someone who is supposed to have your back no matter what.

I handed in my cut to Diesel and left Tennessee in the dust.

I never imagined that following King to Kentucky would bring me to everything I’d ever wanted.

The problem is, Daphne is as wounded as I am. I have a history she doesn’t know. I’ll probably bring nothing but trouble to her door.

Yet, I can’t stay away. Even if she’ll be better off without me.

Daphne:

Mistake number one was getting married right out of high school—to a man who had very little good inside him.

Mistake number two was giving up my dreams for his success.

Mistake number three was allowing my best friend to get close not only to me but to my husband.

Now, I’m in my thirties and starting over as a single mom. I have no room for Eli in my life, but I can’t seem to walk away either.

Falling in love was never part of my plan for the future, but this man might be the answer to every dream that I thought I’d given up years ago.

Chapter 1

Pez

Two Years Ago

I round the corner of the damn subdivision where mine and Nora’s house is with a sigh. I’m in my truck, with my bike loaded behind me on a trailer. The damn thing broke down on me about an hour before I got home. I had to ride on the back of King’s bike—which fucking sucked—not to mention the fact that I’ll probably be raked over the coals by the brothers.

This was supposed to be a good evening. I’m coming home earlier than planned. I needed to talk to my woman tonight. King and I drove nonstop so we could get home earlier than planned. He didn’t want to be away from Gabby. Those two are attached at the hip. King’s leaving and going to run Gabby’s dad’s club, the Devil’s Blaze. He’s asked me to go with him, and I’m going to tell Nora tonight.

Nora is my old lady and we’ve been together for two years. I care deeply for her. She’s the first woman I’ve lowered my shields with. I’ve allowed her to see the real me. I’ll admit, I thought she’d cut me loose. It shocked the hell out of me when she told me she loved me. From that moment on, I’ve made it my mission to make that woman happy. The thought makes me smile. If she is happy—I’m happy. Her smile lights up my day. I’d do anything for her—which is why we live in this pricey-as-hell, upscale subdivision where you take a piss in the commode, look out the window, and see your neighbor in his bathroom doing the same damn thing. I hate it. Hell, I can’t even have a dog. It’s against the rules of the HOA. Still, she loves the damn place, so I deal. It’s not like I care. I have Nora and she’s in my bed at night. That makes it all worth it. She’s mine and I’m hers. I can make allowances for the things that I don’t like, when Nora’s my reward. I’ve always longed for a real home and relationship—something I’ve seen from afar and never experienced in my life until Nora.

I frown as I pull up and notice her Lincoln Navigator in the driveway and not in the garage where it stays when she’s home. I bought it for her for our anniversary this year. She’d been asking for it for a while. I’d been holding off. It’s not that I minded buying her a vehicle. This one just seemed over the top and expensive. I mean I’d already gone into debt for this house. I wanted some time to regroup the downpayment I had made. Adding a payment for a vehicle, along with the payment on this place sucked. The club makes good money, but I’m just a new member, so my portion isn’t phenomenal. I’m damn glad to be part of the club, though.

When Diesel found me, I was working as a bouncer. It wasn’t great money, but I have a record and it’s hard as fuck to get a good job when you have felonies on your record. I could pretty it up, but when someone dies and you’re to blame there’s no way of making that sound or look good. Diesel looked beyond that and gave me a job and a place to belong. King’s offering that, too. Yet, with his club there’s a need for me. I may have to start as a prospect like here, but he promised me a position once roles were established. That’s a big draw, because here, there are so many of the original members’ kids around, advancing will not be easy. I want a chance to prove my worth—to shape a club for the future. Plus, there’s a camaraderie with King that I’ve not had with the other brothers—not even Diesel. I like them all, but King and I grew up similarly. We understand one another. I respect the fuck out of him. I also see what he’s building with Gabby. That’s exactly what I want with Nora.
I paid a gang of ruthless bikers to keep me safe… then begged them to ruin me.

I love the stage, but getting famous is my mother’s dream, not mine. She shoves me into the spotlight and spends money we don’t have while I smile and obey. When an indie project I’m in goes viral, my big break comes with a dark side. Anonymous messages threaten my life, and to expose the truth about the blood-soaked night my half-brother Axel died.

Terrified, I turn to the one person who knows my Axel’s best friend. But he’s not the boy I remember. He’s Priest, a dangerous criminal and sworn member of the notorious Outlaw Sons MC. Together with his brothers-in-arms, Sinner and Colt, he offers to keep me safe. For a price.

But when my new bodyguards are three bossy, inked-up bikers, the line between business and pleasure gets blurry, fast.

When Priest looks at me, he still sees his best friend’s little sister… until his dark eyes start burning with something far more wicked.
Colt is a predator, deadly and suspicious, but once I earn his trust, he’s eager to devour every soft, warm inch of flesh I have to offer.
And Sinner, prison-hardened and fiercely protective, makes it clear no one else will ever touch what’s theirs.

For the first time I know what it feels like to have people who really care at my back, and I don’t want to give them up, even if that choice could cost me my career.

People call them monsters, but they’re my strongest defenders in a world where success has turned into a curse, and the ghosts of the past are back to haunt me

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

Chapter 1 - Quinn

A heavy dance beat thrums through the nightclub, the low lights pulsing in time with it. The air is oppressively thick with the scents of people, booze, and the purple haze from the smoke machines. I can count the number of times I’ve been clubbing on one hand, and the last time I was here was almost a year ago when we were shooting. Back then it was called Starburst, but after Saving the World: 101 took off, they decided to ride the wave of publicity and changed the name to Inferno like in the show. Tonight we’re back as part of the promotion to celebrate getting picked up by a major streaming network.

“You must be dying in that outfit,” Erika whispers.

A drop of sweat runs down the back of my neck and under the collar of my tight leather jacket. “You have no idea. Want to trade?”

Desdemona, my character, is a half-demon college student. Inferno was a demon-owned club in the show, so whenever I was there I was dressed head to toe in tight black leather with chunky platform boots. Erika’s luckier tonight. She’s my co-star, and her character Gloria is part angel, so she’s wearing a light flowy dress with her gorgeous halo of dark curls pulled up high with strands of metallic gold filigree.

Her eyes sparkle as she laughs. “Not on your life. Are you good here? I think I should go rescue Toby before the photos.”

Toby sends us a desperate look from near the dance floor where he’s been cornered by several fans. In the show, Toby’s werewolf family is a biker gang called The Wild Things, so there are plenty of bikers, demons and the occasional angel wandering around in the crowd.

“Go on, get your boy.”

“He’s not my boy!” she hisses under her breath.

Toby plays Erika’s werewolf love interest in the show, and there’ve been bets going all year among the cast about when they’re finally going to get together for real. I might tease her, but I never joined the bets because I know she actually likes him. She’s just afraid the relationship would be doomed if the public found out.

As soon as she’s gone, a slender guy with glasses and a ponytail slides into her place. “Hey, I’m Keith. Do you have a second?”

“Hi Keith.” I smile, frantically trying to remember if I know him or not. Something about him seems familiar.

“I run a fan community for the book series. Maybe you’ve heard of it?”

“Saving the Blog! Of course, yeah!”

His face lights up. “I read that you know the books, but I wasn’t sure if it was true or just something you said, you know?”

“Hah, I wish. I was actually embarrassingly obsessed with them in high school. You should’ve seen me when Tamika was around. I fangirled hard. Like, the actual author? For real? So what’s your question?”

“Okay, um… So, in episode four, when the zombie rats are blocking the way into the access tunnel under the library, in the books, Des reveals her demonic animal affinity for the first time, but in the show, you just slash through them with your scythe. Do you know if they’re planning on cutting that ability out? Because it’s a big part of—”

“The third book, yeah I know. It was a budget thing. Nobody was sure if the show would do well enough to get a second season let alone a third so they tried to cut out magic effects unless they were really important. The scriptwriters worked directly with Tamika and she signed off on any big plot changes so I’m sure they’ll figure it out if we make it that far into the story.”

“Sorry! We have to steal Quinn,” Toby says, interrupting with a hand on my elbow. “Time to work.”

“Nice to meet you, Keith,” I call as my co-stars guide me away.

The next half hour goes by in a blur of photos and autographs, including one with Keith and the three of us. By the time we stop for a break, I’m dying for something to drink and half wondering if I should look up the first signs of heatstroke. I break away from the group and head to the bar, my steps falling naturally in time with the thump thump thump of the music. Dizzying colored laser effects dance around the room in time with it.

I squeeze between a couple of the biker extras at the bar. They look good. Really good, actually. I don’t remember the set costumes looking quite so authentic up close, but these guys fill them out nicely. They have a lot of ink and some scary looking scars, and I can’t quite tell if it’s makeup, or if they were chosen because they already fit the part. Staring too hard seems rude.

“Are you guys as ready to get out of these clothes as I am?”

The last thing he expected was for a beautiful woman to storm into the clubhouse looking for him with a gun in her hand and murder in her eyes.

But she was clearly connected to a chapter in his life that he’d spent years trying to forget as he started his new life over in the club.

When she gets away from him, he has no choice but to follow her for answers.

Before long, he’s tangled up in a mystery that’s turning deadly.

Someone doesn’t want the truth uncovered.

And every step they take puts a target on their backs, even as it pushes them closer together

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER ONE

Rune

The blonde let out a high-pitched squeal as the redhead whacked her with the inflatable baton and finally loosened her slippery hold on my shoulders with her legs, sending her crashing backward into the water.

She surfaced, sputtering, as the redhead threw up her baton in victory while she sat on my brother’s shoulders.

“You good?” I asked as the blonde pulled herself up onto the edge of the pool, trying to wipe the eyeliner that had smudged under her eyes.

“I want to blame you for this,” she said, narrowing her eyes at me, “but I lose every time we play, no matter whose shoulders I’m on.”

“You’re taller, which makes you easier to hit. Also, your legs flail when you get whacked,” I told her.

“They do not.”

“They do.”

“Consolatory drink?” Spike asked, moving to drop down next to the blonde and offering her something red in a glass… with an umbrella.

He nodded toward the clubhouse in a universal ‘get lost’ gesture. Maybe another night, I would have been annoyed by that. But I wasn’t really vibing with the blonde. Or anyone else at the party, to be honest. And judging by the way the blonde giggled and leaned into the tall, dark-haired, slim-fit biker, I figured he was halfway on his way to having a very good night.

It wasn’t that the parties had gotten old, per se.

There was always a different kind of energy to them when the club had new prospects like Spike and Cain.

It was probably more that, for the first time since coming back to Navesink Bank, I was the most senior club member at the parties. It changed the vibe. I felt more in charge and less like someone who was just there to have some fun.

Add in the fact that not only was my twin brother here, but so was our younger brother, Vas. And two of our cousins around the same age: Ronan and Carver. Those three weren’t technically prospects yet, but it would be coming soon.

I felt like I’d spent half the night making sure no one did anything so stupid it couldn’t be undone.

The responsibility of it, that suddenly took me back. To another place, another organization, another phase of my life that I’d walked away from declaring that I never wanted the mantle of leadership again.

That was what was so appealing about the club. Yeah, some part of me knew my brothers and I would always find our way back to that life, but it took on a new meaning to know not only was Fallon the one in charge, but he was followed by Brooks, Malcolm, and a whole list of other guys who would outrank me. No one would be looking to me to make life-or-death decisions again. I’d never have anyone’s fate on my conscience again.

Objectively, I knew I could relax. There was very little trouble these guys could get into. But some roles stuck with you: big brother, leader.

Cain moved in at my side, surveying the grounds with me.

Like Spike, he was a newer prospect. Unlike Spike, he wasn’t a lifelong delinquent. Cain had been on the other side of the law for most of his life, working SWAT until he saw some shit he couldn’t look past in his crew, reported it, and got kicked out on his ass for it.

The two men were as contrasted in looks as they were in their histories. While both were tall, Spike was almost thin, whereas Cain was a big fan of the gym. Spike’s face was thinner with cheekbone hollows that almost made him gaunt-looking, black hair and black eyes. Cain had a square jaw, dark blond hair, and blue eyes.

“Looking for fires to put out?” he asked.

“Not used to having my little cousins and brother here.”

“Get that they might be ‘little’ to you, but they’re grown men.”

Grown men.

Christ.

When did that happen?

I could swear it was just a year or so ago that I was grumbling that they were always hanging around me and the older kids like little lost puppies.

He wasn’t wrong, though.

Vas, my youngest sibling, had shot up like a weed while Croft and I were away. Then he’d filled out like a man, looking more like our father every day.

Ronan and Carver were both tall and fit too, like all three got a deal on a fucking gym membership and used the hell out of it. Gone was all the baby fat on their faces, chiseling them out.

It was a strange feeling sometimes being back. There was a familiarity spliced with the unknown. Because I’d been gone during some of the most formative years of their lives. When they stopped just being kids and became actual human beings. I knew what shows they liked as kids, what embarrassing shit they used to do, but I had no idea who they actually were anymore. And it was that way with all the cousins. It’d taken me a long time to get to know the ones in the club already, and the princesses. It was really just these younger ones that were still basically strangers to me.

Everyone talks about finding the one that makes their heart skip a beat.

Personally, I’m not looking to develop any heart problems.
I definitely don’t have to worry about developing any when it comes to the one man who knows how to get on my every nerve.
Odin Mayer is the most offensive, black-hearted, no-good, very-bad, surliest man I’d ever met.
He was Grumpy with a capital G, a biker to boot, and never missed a chance to make me see red.
Just as I’m convinced there’s no good side to Odin, he shows me differently, saving me when I didn’t ask him to.
And, of course, I have to spend the next few weeks with him after we both get chosen for the same trial to perform our civic duty.
Jury duty was not on my Bingo card.
Nor was falling for the jerkoff.
But there I was, somehow lingering in the middle space between fuck you and I want to fuck you.
Odin knew what he was doing, too.
Teasing and taunting me at every turn.
Then he had to go out of his way to be a hero, and I forgot that I was supposed to stay away

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue I

Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it most never use it.

—T-shirt

Odin

There were times in your life when you had to admit to yourself that you were in an impossible situation.

On one hand, you could do what’s right and pay the ultimate price for it.

On the other hand, you could bury your head in the sand and act like nothing ever happened, while also casting your morals aside and being unable to live with yourself.

In this particular situation, I’d come to the uncomfortable truth.

I couldn’t let this go.

Not and live with myself afterward.

And sure as fuck there was no way I could live in the same state as the governor that had literally had a hit taken out on his wife and child, and everyone knew it, but couldn’t prove it.

The little girl had been so sick when she’d first come to me.

My mind had whirled with possibilities, and those possibilities had solidified into one hard truth.

The governor of Mississippi was poisoning his child.

After weeks of trial and error, the mother had discovered the truth.

Discovered two truths.

That not only was her little girl being poisoned, but so was she.

We’d gotten the little girl on the mend, and only when she was doing better did I notice that the mother was also experiencing symptoms of poisoning, just at a much slower rate.

And who was doing the poisoning? Man Wise, the so-called “governor” and “family man” who “loved his wife and child to pieces.”

His public face had been a façade. He acted like he was so in love, while simultaneously poisoning their daily tea that he’d known the wife and daughter took seriously. They’d been playing tea party, for Christ’s sake. A game. Every morning, they’d sit down and enjoy a cup of steaming tea while eating cookies they’d baked the day before. Innocent and pure.

And Man Wise had fucking ruined it.

The people who wanted to know the truth about Man Wise knew it. They protested in the streets. They filled out petitions. They even wrote the president—hell, I’d done all of those things, too.

But then there were the people that saw money when they saw Man Wise. They saw the cash cow that he was, that did the things that they wanted him to do, and didn’t question his morals. Didn’t see any problems with him killing his wife and child for who-the-fuck-knew why.

And let’s be really clear here.

Everyone knew he did it. No one was denying that.

It was just some people cared and protested, while others didn’t care, as long as Man Wise kept their coffers filled and the incentives rolling in.

Corrupt was too tame of a word for the likes of Man Wise.

As he walked out of the courtroom with a huge “gotcha” smile on his face and his people surrounding him slapping his back and carrying on as if he hadn’t just gotten away with murder—literally—I’d made my decision.

I slipped the safety off the gun in my suit jacket.

I waited until the smug motherfucker was inches away from me, that stupid fucking smile on his face that screamed “too bad so sad” and lifted the gun.

Before anyone could do anything—not his bodyguards, not his stupid smug asshole personal assistant, not the cops at his back, and not the new wife at his side that had likely been a part of the killing of his wife and child—I shot him square in the face.

His head exploded like a watermelon dropped unceremoniously to the ground.

The crowd screamed.

Cameras clicked.

And my world changed.

For the fucking better.

Prologue II

Don’t kiss me if you’re afraid of thunder. My life is an emotional storm.

—Contance’s secret thoughts

Constance

Wendy smiled, though it didn’t reach her eyes anymore.

My heart literally ached as I pulled the covers up to her chin and swept the hair back from her face. “I love you lotsa.”

“I love you lotsa and lotsa,” she replied sleepily.

And, even though it wasn’t nap time, and she’d gotten up for the day only two and a half hours ago, she was headed right back to sleep.

She’d take several of these naps a day, and still not feel any relief from her exhaustion.

That was just how her life was now.

One moment, we’d gone from being super happy and carefree, ruling the kindergarten halls and taking selfies in the mirror with zero cares in the world.

Then everything changed.

One day, she’d woken up, spent the day with her Aunt Essie in the garden while I’d worked at the Raptor and Wildlife Rehab Center and gradually deteriorated. By the end of the day everything that was my little Wendy was gone.

In her place was a shell of a girl.

We’d gone to the hospital immediately, and I’d found out a few things that day about my special little girl.

One, she had a rare genetic disorder called beta thalassemia intermedia that resulted in slower production of beta-globin chain production. Thankfully, in Wendy’s case, she wasn’t making zero. Just a lot lower than was typically normal for a healthy individual.
He was my first secret.

The one man I could never seem to leave behind.

As a teenager trapped beneath the expectations of my wealthy adoptive family, I found my escape in Zayne Harmond. He was late nights, hidden touches, and the only place I felt understood. I walked away and joined the Marines, believing whatever existed between us would stay in the past.

I was wrong.

Now I’m a wounded veteran working with Cerberus to take down sex trafficking rings in East Tennessee, and fate has put Zayne back in my path. Only this time, we’re assigned to the same undercover case, infiltrating a dangerous paramilitary organization tied to multiple missing women.

Years ago, getting caught with him would’ve ruined my reputation.

Now, it could get us both killed

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

Zayne
The slow ride up the mountains, my bike hugging every curve, should be enjoyable, but all I can focus on is my racing heart and the pressure in my lungs as the elevation rises.

What started out as a way to get a very small piece of my life back, something that I've been missing since high school, is now clouded in doubt. Pettiness has never been my thing, but knowing what, or should I say, who I'll be facing in mere moments was just too tempting to turn down.

I didn't make my life decisions based on who I knew would be at the house, but it did add a nice little cherry on top of what I'd hoped would be a very satisfying job.

My new position with the Cerberus motorcycle club came at the perfect time in my life, a time when I needed something I didn't even know I was missing. The camaraderie and fellowship these guys are known for met me the second I stepped into the clubhouse to meet with Kincaid, the president of the New Mexico chapter and founder of the entire organization.

I was fully vetted before I could step onto the property, and although people digging into every second of my past wasn't the most comfortable thing, I knew it had to be done.

Cerberus has spent literal decades making people mad, people who wouldn't hesitate to seek revenge if they weren't a little scared of the fallout from the men and women who have dedicated their lives to saving people.

All those thoughts fade away as I slow down enough to make the wide turn onto the property.

Eyes turn toward me, reminding me that it's not just us out here. Cerberus has bought two cabins in the Smoky Mountains in a very populated area just outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This little community consists of a half dozen or more very similar houses, mostly used for short-term rentals by tourists hoping to get a little fresh air and see a bear or two.

My ears pop, the sounds around me growing a little easier to detect as I park and turn off my bike.

There's no fanfare. There's no rush of people coming out of the main cabin's front door, but I guess that's for the best. I know they're expecting me. I spoke with Hemlock, the president of this Tennessee Chapter of Cerberus, last week. He seemed a little relieved when I told him I was going to ride in rather than needing a ride from the airport or bus station.

Cold air gusts around, chilling me to the bone. I don't think I have time to stand here and try to figure out whether it's just the weather sending chills up my arms or if it's the ghosts of my past warning me that this isn't the best idea.

I know they had to have clocked me the second I turned in, and the traffic in and out of this area must keep Casper, this chapter's IT specialist, busy. With how things are set up in New Mexico, having their home base situated in a tourist-heavy area honestly surprises me, but if there's anything I've learned about Kincaid, it's that the man knows exactly what he's doing.

I pull in one last fortifying breath before walking toward the front door, feeling the eyes from a group of women at one of the other cabins facing this way practically burning into my back. From the laughter and conversation coming from that direction, it's clear they've been drinking and are having a good time. I'm shocked I haven't been catcalled as I lift my hand to ring the doorbell.

Despite this being my new place to live, it just doesn't feel right walking in like I own the place. Plus, the men inside are thoroughly trained and heavily armed, so it probably wouldn't be wise.

I don't know if it's the anxiety of just wanting to get it over with or what, but instead of waiting for someone to answer, I turn the knob and push it open.

A smiling woman stands before me, and I grin back at her. I recognize her as Zara Hailey. She's the woman Hemlock nearly lost his mind over when he decided one day he was going to keep her. As if the woman were a shirt he saw in the store and just had to have, he brought her back here and refused to let her leave.

Knowing that made me ask so many questions, but the way Kincaid made it sound, they were destined to be together. Once the dust settled, she was more than happy to be here with him.

The growl from my new boss tells me I either made a mistake by not waiting for her to answer the door, or he's less than impressed that she was going to answer it in the first place.
