Rude.

“Where did you want to go?” Jenner asked.

“The happiest place on earth!” she cried “In Florida.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Jenner asked in a soft voice. “I would have taken you.”

“Because I didn’t want you to have to pay for it. Well, other than the money you put in the swear jar. But you don’t swear as much as this guy.” She pointed her thumb at Sampson. “No one does, I don’t think.”

“Hey,” Sampson said without heat. “You were really saving for a holiday for all of us?”

“Yeah. But it’s not a surprise, now. I just wanted all of us to be together . . . the way we used to be.”

“Aww, Immy. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize.” Jenner hugged her tight. “And I can add some more money to the pot.”

She shook her head. “No. I’m doing this. With a bit of help from you guys. But mostly me.”

“And me. I asked for a subscription rate,” Tobias said dryly.

“Hey! I want one of those too,” Sampson said.

“You were getting it for free for ages!” she cried. “You owe so much we can probably all go on vacation tomorrow.”

Sampson just shrugged.

“I can pay his share,” Jenner told her.

“Nope. No! Now, can I please get down? I need to stick Abe’s sheets in the wash.”

“Why the fuck are you washing Abe’s sheets?” Sampson demanded. “Christ. I’m gonna go broke now.”

“Welcome to the club,” Tobias told him.

“I’m washing Abe’s sheets because they need it. And I want to help him. He’s having a shower. I think he’s been feeling guilty about what happened with Maeve. Like it was his fault or something. Anyway, I’ve got him up and moving and I need to wash these sheets and get them back on his bed.”

“Wait,” Sampson said. “You were walking down the stairs with those?”

“Yes.” She glared at him.

“No Twizzlers for a week as punishment,” Jenner told him.

“Fair,” Sampson said.

“Not fair! All of you are being very mean to me right now.”

“I’ll carry them for you,” Tobias told her, bending over to pick them up.

“Do badasses wash sheets?” she asked.

“Badasses can do anything.”

Huh. Probably true.

“Actually, I can help,” Jenner muttered. “I’m sure you have other things you want to do, Tobias.”

She stared at Jenner in confusion. “But you can’t do laundry.”

“I can do laundry.”

“The one time you did it for all of us, you turned everything pink,” Sampson commented.

“That wasn’t my fault,” Jenner protested. “I didn’t know there was a red pair of socks in with the white sheets.”

“In fairness, I didn’t think the dye in those socks would run like that,” she said. “Although I thought you looked cute in that pink T-shirt, Sampson.”

Sampson glowered at her, and she had to hide her giggle.

“I did not.”

“Sampson had to go to work and everything else was dirty, plus he doesn’t fit anyone else’s clothes because of his ape-like shoulders. So he had to wear the pink T-shirt,” she told Tobias. “Honestly, he looked cute. Pink is his color.”

“Pink is not my color,” Sampson grumbled. Then he pointed to her. “And you’re in trouble for walking down the stairs carrying stuff.”

“Way to deflect from pink-gate,” she grumbled.

“There is no pink-gate. I’ll put the sheets in to wash,” Sampson said, picking up the sheets and stomping away.

That left her with just Tobias and Jenner. Standing on the stairs.

It might have been sexy if it wasn’t so awkward.

“Sooo, anyone read a good book lately?”

Jenner turned to give her a surprised look. Then his lips twitched. “Why? You got some recommendations for us?”

“I, um, what? No!”

“No?” He grinned over at Tobias. “Immy likes sexy books.”

“Hey!” She could feel herself growing bright red. “That’s private information.”

“She hid her eReader pretty quickly when I saw her reading it the other day,” Tobias said.

“I did not!” She totally had. She’d been in the middle of a spanking scene and it had been hot. She’d been getting all flustered and then Tobias had walked into the living room.

It was her fault, admittedly, for reading a sexy scene in an open area. She should have saved it for her bedroom. But she hadn’t wanted to stop reading to move. And she’d had plenty of accidents from walking into things while reading.

She didn’t need a repeat of the black eye incident from last year. That had been so embarrassing.

“I can believe it,” Jenner said.

All right, she really didn’t like them ganging up on her.

“You know what? I’m declaring that it’s family dinner night,” Immy said.

Jenner narrowed his gaze. “It is?”

“Uh-huh and I’m feeling creative.” She smiled at him sweetly as he grew pale. Turning, she started to bounce her way down the steps. While holding on with one hand. She wasn’t a fool.

“Now, Immy, there’s no need to get creative,” Jenner said desperately, chasing after her into the kitchen.

“What’s the problem if she wants to get creative?” Tobias asked curiously.
