“I see your point, and it’s approved.” She gives a firm nod, a sign of approval, I suppose.

"Anything else you’re upset about or worried over besides the warehouse issue?" I allude, not saying part out loud for others to hear. Blair mainly. She's watching the two of us with curiosity.

"Why don't you tell him what you told me?" Blair cuts in.

"What?" Kinsley asks, confused.

"About the other things you're worried about."

"What else are you worried about?" What the fuck else could have happened?

"Oh, yeah!" Kinsley perks up, while Blair fights a smile. "Did you know there are forty-two million kangaroos in Australia?" That was nowhere in the range of what I thought I was about to hear.

"Sure," I agree. The number sounds high, but she's been drinking. I'm not calling that shit out. I'll die on the hill that there are forty-two million kangaroos in Australia now.

"Well, only three million people live in Jamaica." How we went from Australia to Jamaica, I haven’t got a fucking clue, but I nod along. "That means if the kangaroos were to invade Jamaica, each person would have to fight fourteen kangaroos," Kinsley says with a dead-ass serious face.

“Sounds rough. I saw that one kangaroo beat that man’s ass. He looked like a skilled boxer making a run for a heavyweight championship,” I say, and Kinsley nods her head.

“It’s rather concerning,” Blair adds before covering her mouth with her hand to hide her laugh.

“Bunny, that’s got to be a twenty-four-hour flight, easy, if not more, if they’re flying coach with those layovers.”

“Jax, don’t be elitist. They could fly private.”

“Fourteen million of them? That means there would be waves of them. Not all fourteen million at once.”

“True, it’s just something people should keep in mind.” All I can keep in mind right now are all the things that must go through my girls' thoughts randomly.

“It is,” Blair tells her.

“But!” Kinsley holds up one finger. “That is for another day. For today, Jax, you must try one of the tiny drinks. The lemon one is extra delicious.”

“Are we sure they’re tiny?” My eyes bounce between the two girls. Blair isn’t as drunk, but she’s had a few. I’ll tell Damon to drive her car home for her. Kinsley holds up her fingers to show me how tiny.

Fuck, she’s adorable. I can’t stop myself from stealing a quick kiss from her lips. Kinsley licks her lips, her cheeks warm. Her hand is now rubbing my chest.

“Should we tell him about the other thing you’re worried about?” Oh, I want to hear this one too.

“Maybe. I’m tired now.” She fakes a giant yawn, and I know she wants to head back home where we can be alone. Fuck me. She’s going to kill me slowly.

“Jax.” My brother barks my name, coming up on us quickly. I hadn’t paid attention to where he slipped off to when we got downstairs. My attention is fully on Kinsley. “We have a problem.”

“Kangaroos?” Kinsley asks. This time, Blair doesn’t fight the laugh. But it’s short-lived when it’s cut off by screams.

Turns out, I wasn’t the one who got killed tonight, after all. That’s not going to stop people from thinking it’s not Kinsley who did the killing.

Chapter Twenty-Two

KINSLEY

As you get older, aren’t you supposed to get used to adult things, such as waking up in the morning? I hate them, and this morning, it’s extra hard to wake up. My eyelids feel heavier than normal.

The hell? It’s the weekend, right? I can just fall back asleep. I’m headed back to sleepyland when a hand grips my ass; my eyes fly open to see olive skin, with a dusting of hair coming in on the jaw line.

“Jax.” His name comes out raspy. “What did you do to me?”

“What did I do to you?” he grunts. “If you rub your pussy along my dick one more time, Bunny.” That wakes me up more—all of me.

My hand feels a bare chest, and I quickly put together that I’m all over Jax. He’s flat on his back while I’m sprawled out on top of him. I lift my head, my eyes meeting his.

“Hi.” That’s the only word I can form because I very much do feel my sex pressed right against his very hard cock. Jax’s hand on my ass gives a squeeze.

“Hi.” He smirks, making my eyes drop to his mouth. My own mouth feels tender. That’s the first flash of what happened last night that flutters through my mind. Jax and I were in this bed, and I was kissing the hell out of him.

“Oh, gosh.” I roll off him.

“Kinsley?” I shoot out of bed as fast as I can, bolting for the bathroom. “Shit.” He’s hot on my heels. “What are you doing?” He pauses at the door as I grab my toothbrush.

“Brushing my teeth?”
