“I love you too, Bunny.” He scoops me up into his arms. “Let's go home.”

Home. There is nowhere else I’d rather be.

Chapter Thirty-Three

JAX

My hands throb, but I don’t give a shit. I welcome the pain, knowing it came from smashing that asshole's face in. This isn’t over. I don’t care if I have to fly to Italy myself. Joseph Bianco is as good as dead, too. I’m sure War will handle it. As much as I’d love to do it myself, there is no way I’m letting Kinsley out of my sight for the foreseeable future. She can fight me on it, but I’ll tie her to my bed if I have to.

I carry her down the stairs, stepping over Jim. “Blair did that,” Kinsley tells me. “Wait, where is Blair?” she asks.

“We got her when she ran out.” I let her know. “She left you behind.”

“No, she didn't!” Kinsley hisses. “It was my plan. She thought I was going to follow her.” Right now, I’m not sure what to believe when it comes to Blair. I don’t trust anyone that isn’t a Marino at the moment.

Damon opens the back door to the SUV for me to climb in. I’m in no shape to drive. I’m not letting Kinsley go. She is the only thing keeping me grounded. If not for her, I’d still be beating the shit out of a dead body.

"Blair seemed awfully comfortable when you all exited the school with Jim," Damon adds.

"She wasn't! We were trying to not get shot. Blair freaking killed him. Pushed him down the stairs. One of them backhanded her across the face. No way she is freaking involved," Kinsley says with conviction.

That’s still to be determined, but I don’t need to worry my girl any more than she has already been tonight. My family will make sure they get the answers they need from Blair and see if she checks out.

Damon and I glance at each other. "All right," I tell her. Damon only nods, closing the door before jogging around to the driver's side and hopping in.

“Jax,” Kinsley says softly, her hand coming to my cheek. I close my eyes momentarily. “What about Blair?”

“We have her, Bunny.”

“Okay.” She gives me a soft smile that has guilt weighing on me. Damon will make a call when we get home to check fully on Blair's status.

“How are you feeling?” I ask, searching her face for disgust. Today, she got a real taste of who I am. Those two weren't the first people I had ever killed before. Not that I had a giant list, but there have been a few. I don’t enjoy having to take someone's life, but I’ll always do what’s necessary to protect my family.

“I’m good.” She gives me a smile. “Happy, actually, now that my adrenaline is coming down. We did it. Right? It’s over?”

“It will be by the end of the day. We are still putting the pieces together and figuring out how those police reports got changed.” I’ll let my family deal with that.

“I hope they can figure out how to save Trent.”

“They will if they can. Dad told me that he might reach out to your mom once he gets his hands on the drugs.”

“She’ll like that. It’s been driving her crazy, and it will show her that you Marinos aren’t so bad.”

“Hey, now. Don’t be ruining our reputation,” Damon jokes. Kinsley only shakes her head before laying it on my shoulder. I keep a tight hold on her; the drive is quiet, but I soak it in.

When we enter the house, everyone is focused on Kinsley. “Are you okay?” Mom starts to fuss over her.

“Did you kill someone this time?” Naomi asks, her tone flat. Kinsley laughs.

“Nah, I’m still a murder virgin.” The second the words are out of her mouth, her cheeks start to pinken.

“Give it time. I’m sure one day,” Mom tells her.

“I’m a virgin all around,” Nix huffs. Mom elbows her in the side. She’s too young to be thinking about that shit. Her little ass better hold out for another few years, or I’ll have to murder someone else.

“You'd better keep it that way.” I shoot her a glare that she only returns. Nix rolls her eyes at me, her attention going back to Kinsley.

“I’m glad you’re okay. I’ll let the group chat know. Everyone has been freaking out.”

“Really?” Kinsley's lips turn up on one side. She’s happy that there are people that are worried about her.

“Of course!” Mom tells her. “Are you guys hungry?”

“Not if you’re cooking,” Naomi says, scrunching her nose.

“I know that, you little brat.” Mom laughs. “Mary is here. It’s nice to have her back full-time.” Shit. Shit. Shit.

“Mary?” Kinsley asks.

“Oh, she doesn’t know yet.” Mom's brows rise.

“Know what?” Kinsley looks at me for an explanation. One I know there’s no getting out of, but I’m going to try to push it off for now.
