Logan’s offer of us living together keeps sounding better by the second.

“I think you should do it.” My eyes spring open. “Get your mind out of the gutter. I meant move in with him but also the sex thing too. Definitely do that too.” She wiggles her brows at me. She has no shame when it comes to getting me to move back home.

“It’s kind of fast.” Fast is putting it mildly.

“So what?” She shrugs. “Close your eyes.” I do as she tells me. Carey is magic when it comes to hair and makeup. I’m going to meet Logan’s parents tonight and want to make a good impression. Even if I already have a dislike for them. They sound like crappy parents. Still, I want them to like me if Logan and I are really dating. Or whatever it is one would call whatever we’re doing.

“Let’s think this out,” Carey says. “Quit that terrible job and come here. Job search while living it up with your new man in his killer condo. Not like he’s going to ask you to pay half the bills. You could actually decorate it or something. This place has so much potential, and decorating and design is kind of your thing.”

“I can’t mooch off him.”

“It’s not mooching. You give him good sexy times, cook some meals, and help pick up around here. Do your part. It’s ridiculous to think he’s going to take money from you.”

“She’s right. But you don’t have to cook or clean. I have a cleaner, and I can hire someone for food or we can order out.” My eyes open at the sound of Logan’s voice.

“I really like him.” Carey smiles at Logan. Yeah. He’s winning everyone over but my brother. He steps into the room and places a kiss on my mouth.

“This keeps going off.” He hands me my phone. “Who is DC?”

“Douche Canoe.” Carey laughs. “You kept his name that?” She changed it the last time she was out in LA to see me.

“He?” Logan’s face grows serious.

“My boss.” I look at my screen to see a few missed calls and some texts. Why is he calling me? He has a few other assistants.

“Douglass Canon. He is a douche canoe.”

He holds his hand out. “Want me to tell him to fuck off?”

“No.” I hold my phone tighter. Even if I do quit, I still might need a reference.

“If you change your mind…” He drops another kiss on me before he heads back out of the bathroom.

“That man is into you, Angel. From what I’ve read about him, most say he’s a cold jerk. That’s not what I’m getting here. So either they are all liars or he’s different with you.”

“He is not cold.” I defend him instantly. I also thought he was a jerk at first. Then I spent some time with him. The man is a sweetheart. To me at least.

“Sounds like you’re smitten too. Might as well give it up. You’re moving in.” I snort a laugh. It sounds too easy.

“What if he grows tired of me?”

Carey sets one brush down to grab another. The man could do a number on my heart. Then again, what if he did end up being my one? My mom always talks about how fast she and dad fell in love. This could be just that. I don’t want to run from that because I’m too scared to try.

“It’s not like he’s his brother who does look like some manwhore. He seems to have a new girl every week. From what I can tell, before that Kelly woman there wasn’t some string of girls. If he’s asking you to move in, I think it’s because he’s beyond serious.” That’s true. There is no way he can’t be feeling all the things I’m feeling too. Not with the way he’s been acting toward me.

I look back down at my phone when it goes off again. “How the hell?” I show my phone to Carey. My boss is asking about Logan.

“I guess word travels fast. Think they know each other?”

“I don’t know, but why does he seem mad about it?” He shouldn't care. It’s really none of his business who I’m dating.

“He sounds a bit like a jealous boyfriend.” Carey takes my cell phone from my hand to read all the texts more closely.

“No, he’s just a jerk of a boss who has control issues.” I’m not sure if I should even respond to his messages. He’s not asking me anything about work. All of the questions are personal in nature.

I put my phone on the vanity in Logan’s bathroom. “All right. I think we’re done. Except your lips but I think we should leave them be. That man of yours can’t keep his mouth off yours. We don’t need lip stain smeared all over your face.”
