I should have gotten up sooner when I’d had a chance. She beat me fair and square, so I should drop back into my chair and let the drink he bought me soothe my aches. But I didn’t give up on what I wanted, so I headed over there anyway.

She glanced at me before placing her hand on his shoulder. “I’m Talia.”

“Axel.” He extended his hand to shake hers.

“Is this seat taken?” she asked, referring to the open seat beside him.

“Not at all.” He pulled it out farther, so it would be easier for her to join him. “Talia, that’s a beautiful name—”

I arrived on the other side of him, moving my hand to his shoulder.

He turned to look at me, and he couldn’t hide the surprise on his face, like he’d really had no idea that I’d been watching him the last five minutes.

“Is this seat taken?”

Axel hesitated, because there was no open seat, other than the one he’d offered to Talia. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “What seat?”

“This one.” I moved between his open knees and sat right on his lap, my arm circling his neck, my tits right in his face.

The grin that spread over his face was unlike any I’d ever seen. His eyes matched it, both excited and cocky. His arm wrapped around my waist, and he adjusted me on him, bringing me closer to his chest. His other hand slid up my thigh, slightly underneath my dress. “Baby, this seat is reserved—for you.”

After we parked his car in the garage, the elevator took us to the ground floor. He led the way and held the door open for me, revealing a grand entryway with a chandelier hanging in the center of the room. The floor was made of marble, and a large rug was in the center, a tall table with lilies directly underneath the chandelier.

It was a lot more sophisticated than I expected.

A set of stairs was on either side of the entry, both of them winding up to the next level. From the outside of the building, I never would have guessed the refinement of this place.

His arm circled my waist, and he guided me up the stairs to the second floor, down the hallway lined with windows that showed the city lit up in the darkness. The floors were carpeted, so my heels didn’t tap and echo.

My heart fluttered the way it had the other night when I’d stolen the ring. I was nervous and excited, driven by desire but terrified by the act.

He led me to the end of the hallway through double doors leading to his master bedroom.

When we stepped inside, it felt like its own apartment, a living room directly in front of us, all the furniture dark and classic, with masculine tones and energy. There was a large TV on the wall, a wet bar, and then down the short hallway, I could see a few details of his bedroom, a large bed on a dark rug.

He went to the wet bar and poured a few drinks.

I looked out the window, the Duomo in the distance, lit up in its grandeur.

He turned with the two glasses and handed me one.

It was another old-fashioned. The glass was cold to the touch, and my finger felt the slickness of the moisture as I held it. I brought it to my lips for a quick drink, a splash of whiskey to calm the nerves.

He took a drink as he stared at me, his eyes never leaving my face. “I can tell you’re nervous.”

“You’re wrong.”

He took another drink, finishing half of it in a few sips. “To be fair, you should be nervous.” He set the glass on the coffee table and sat down, taking up unnecessary space as usual.

“I should?” I took the seat beside him, my back against the corner of the couch.

His hand made itself right at home up my dress, between my thighs. His warm fingers cupped the inside of my thigh before he moved high enough to brush against my panties. His eyes were down, like he wanted to push up the bottom of my dress so he could see what color thong I wore. “With how hard you’re about to get fucked, yes.”

My heart gave a lurch, and the goose bumps flashed down my arms once more.

His eyes were still angled down, and he smirked, seeing the distinct pebbles forming across my thighs and disappearing under the fabric of my dress. One of his big fingers slipped inside and hooked into my panties, grazing over my sensitive folds, and then he slowly started to pull them down, his strength making the fabric slide off my hips and down my thighs. He kept going, bringing them to my knees and letting them fall the rest of the way to my ankles. “Black…exactly as I pictured.”
