I see her give Khloe a wink that says they’ll talk later. Women, I don’t know that men will ever have them fully figured out.

We chat with the others for a while without even grabbing breakfast. Khloe is beside me, interacting with the others like she was born here. I’m grateful to have found someone so cohesive with my family, someone who I can love every day for the rest of my life without even having to think about it.

“Here you go,” Itchy says dropping off a thick stack of paper.

“Thanks, man,” I say as he walks across the room to sit with Snatch and Darby.

“What’s all that,” Khloe asks as I flip through the documents.

“This, Sweet Girl is everything you need to start college,” she looks up at me dumbfounded.

“Em told me about your plan and the reason you met with your caseworker the other day.”

“I need to find a job, Kid. If I stay here, I have to be able to help out.”

I reach behind her and place my hand on the back of her head. “Are you mine?”

She nods. “Always,” she says softly, her eyes looking down at my mouth. My cock twitches in my pants even though this isn’t the time or the place for that shit.

“Forever,” I add. “I take care of you; it’s my job.” She shakes her head as if she going to start arguing. “Khloe, you were a ward of the State for nine years; your education is free. Books, meal plan, even a computer and your supplies are covered. I’d rather pay out of my own pocket,” I say lowering my voice so only she can hear. “Because the grant applications are long as hell, and I’d rather spend that time inside of you than watching you fill in blanks. But, if you don’t want me to then the forms are here.”

“How do I pay you back? I’ll owe you tons.”

“Will you love me for the rest of your life?” I ask gently.

“Of course,” she answers without hesitation.

“Then it’s I who will owe you.” I kiss her in a way that should only be reserved for the private confines of our room. It’s not until the catcalls from across the room break into my haze that I realize I’ve pulled her onto my lap, and my hands are inching up her shirt.

She pulls away gasping, her face flushing with either embarrassment or arousal; it’s hard to tell which one.

“Love you,” I whisper against her lips.

“Love you, too,” she says right back.

“We’re going to have so much fun!” Emmalyn says.

I pull my eyes from Khloe’s and look over at Em. My girl looks between us in confusion.

“I’m sorry?” Khloe says.

“I’m going to college, too! Can you just imagine! A twenty-six-year-old freshman. I think I’ve lost my mind!” Emmalyn is grinning ear to ear at the prospect of higher education.
