It had been an amazing ten years.

Tara had called her Mom, and Caleb Dad. They had agreed to tell her about her parents. Annie hadn’t told her the truth—Tara didn’t need to know that. She’d never kept Clara and Lionel a secret. She had also found every single photograph she had of them, just them. Nothing that would show their betrayal. Annie didn’t want Tara to look on her parents in a bad light. Even though she knew the truth, she still wanted Tara to call her and Caleb, Mom and Dad. She loved Tara so much, like her own child.

Of course, once cookies were mentioned, that meant Phoenix, Hannah, and Tyler were also rushing into the room. Even her little baby girl that was nowhere near due, began to kick against her stomach.

Caleb was there, hands on her stomach, rubbing the sore spot. “We’ve got a soccer girl,” Caleb said.

As to be expected, their four kids gathered around, each trying to take a turn to feel their sister kicking. Annie knew she was the luckiest woman alive.

“She stopped,” Tyler said, pouting.

“She’ll kick again. Your dad is right. She’s so going to be into soccer.”

“Okay, kids, it’s time for that Christmas movie. Come on, let’s head to the living room.”

They had moved out of Caleb’s apartment after Phoenix was born. They lived a few houses away from Katherine and Ryan. Not only did they have the twins, they now had three other children as well. She and Katherine had become the best of friends in the last ten years.

Caleb gripped her shoulders and kissed her neck. “I love you, Annie Nanny.”

Annie couldn’t help but laugh.

“And I love you, Mr. Nanny.”

“Your Mr. Nanny,” he said.

“Of course. You wouldn’t be anyone else’s.”

She belonged to him, just as he belonged to her.

The End
