“Julia?” she calls her name over the railing.

“Yeah,” Julia says from somewhere in the house. “I’m in the west wing,” she jokes, and my laughter is taken away when Jillian looks over at me. “I brought you lemon cake with blueberries.”

“She better,” Jillian huffs, turning to me. “Are you not going to kiss me?” She looks at me almost as if she is going to cry. “You didn’t even kiss me good morning.”

“Baby,” I say, taking her in my arms. “I said good morning when I kissed you awake.” I kiss her lips. “You also said if I took my cock out of you, that you would break it off.” I push into her so she can feel said cock.

“You know I love you,” she says softly, kissing my neck, and her hands start roaming.

“If you finish that sentence,” Alex warns, coming out of one of the bedrooms she deemed hers, “I’m going to jump over this railing.” She walks past us. “Seriously, you two. Like, can you not leave her alone?” she huffs, walking down the steps. “I caught you two going at it in the kitchen.”

“It’s our house!” I yell at her.

“Well, people eat on that counter,” she retorts, walking downstairs.

“Why are you here?” I shout, then stop when I feel kisses on my neck.

“You’re sexy when you huff and puff,” she says, turning and waddling down the stairs. I shake my head and look up at the ceiling.

“Why did we say it’s okay for our sisters to come and go?” I put my hands on my hips and look down at my girl.

“Michael,” she says when she gets to the last step. “Alex lives in New York, and Julia is here all the time because you don’t want me alone when you aren’t here.”

I walk down the stairs and into the kitchen. “Eww,” Julia says. “Go put a shirt on. Why are you coming into the kitchen naked?” Alex and Julia sit at the counter eating cereal out of the box with their hands.

“I’m wearing shorts,” I point out. “And my woman likes my chest,” I say, looking at Jillian, who just nods. I’m about to say something else when the front door opens. “It’s like Grand Central Station.” I grab a coffee cup and feel lips on my back and look over to see Jillian smiling at me.

“Why aren’t you dressed?” I hear my mother’s voice and put my head back.

“It’s nine o’clock,” I say, pouring the coffee for myself.

“Michael,” my father says from behind my mother. “Your sister-in-law is sitting right there, and you are shirtless.”

“Not sister-in-law,” Julia denies. “He didn’t put a ring on it. I don’t even know what to call myself, so it’s baby momma’s sister.” She shrugs. “And I’m uncomfortable with him not being dressed.”

“I feel the same,” Alex says, looking over at my parents. “I mean, how would you feel if I walked around without a shirt?”

“Dad,” I say, looking at him, and he just glares at Alex.

“I’m not going to.” Alex holds up her hands. “Now, are we ready for the glam?” She claps her hands, and I look over at Jillian, who just stares at her. “It’s your baby shower. You didn’t think we wouldn’t have a glam squad coming.”

“I love glam squad,” Julia says, getting off her stool.

“Since when do you love glam squad?” Jillian laughs, shaking her head. “I have to eat, or I’ll be hangry,” she says, and my mother comes over to grab her.

“We have everything set up at our house.” She looks at Jillian, who looks at me. “The party planners are already setting up, and the team is due to be there in twenty minutes. We have all the food set up in the kitchen.”

“I thought we said low-key baby shower?” Jillian reminds her, and Julia can’t help but laugh. Jillian looks over at her and glares. “We sat down and said low-key, just family.”

“Yup,” my mother says. “We are just a touch over fifty…” She trails off when Jillian’s eyes get bigger.

“Do you want to just get in the truck in your robe?” Alex says, trying to change Jillian’s mind. “Since your outfit is already there.”

“It’s so pretty,” Julia says, and Jillian looks over at me.

“Go have fun,” I say, smiling, the knot forming in my stomach. “It’s for the baby.”

“I can’t wait for when the baby is here, and none of you use that excuse.” She grabs a piece of cake. “The baby is up,” she says, and my mother puts her hands on her stomach and then gets tears in her eyes.

“Oh, here we go,” Alex says. “I’m going to get my bag.” She leaves the kitchen, followed by Julia. Jillian just stands there eating her cake while my mother and father both try to feel the baby.

“It’s like National Geographic,” Jillian says, eating another piece of cake. “What are you going to be doing while I get glammed up?”
