The last thing Master wanted was for Destroyer to ever go back to prison. He’d served his time in the worst prison Russia had, and he’d survived when few did. Steele had no idea what he was talking about. Master could see Czar knew Destroyer couldn’t go back, but then Czar knew more about Destroyer than any of them did.

Master identified with him far too much. The two of them exchanged a long, knowing look. Destroyer knew what it was like to live inside those cages for extended periods of time. To be treated as if you weren’t human until you weren’t. Sometimes, often, it was kill or be killed. When he was a child, just trying to survive what the adult prisoners did to him was often the only thing left to him, and he was more animal than human for certain then.

When he was a teen, trying to survive what the adults did to him, he fought back until they nearly killed him. He wanted them to kill him. He wanted to be unconscious at least. He was never given that, but he began to hone his fighting skills, and he learned to kill with the best of them. He toned his body, built himself into a weapon, became a machine. He recognized that same cold-blooded machine in Destroyer.

There were only so many times either of them could go back and relive those times. He didn’t know what happened to Destroyer in that terrible place, but he knew his own hell had started when he was just a boy. He had been seven when Sorbacov decided his fate and sent him inside, giving him to a “friend” to see what could happen to a boy trained in the way of prisons so he might be useful if he survived.

“Helena appears to be an intelligent woman,” Absinthe said. “I doubt she would make such a mistake as hiding both her teams in a prison. She would want one mobile for fast deployment. This discussion is getting us nowhere. For the moment, Blythe and the children are safe, Czar. Even if they have to be in lockdown for a short while, they knew they would have to make sacrifices. We all are going to have to be extra diligent in our security. Anyone with a wife or children, you know what you have to do, whether or not they agree.”

Steele nodded. “It’s already done.”

Master believed that. Steele didn’t give his wife, Breezy, too much leash when it came to her safety, or that of their son. Zane had been kidnapped once already, and they both watched over him carefully.

The members, including Czar, looked to Savage. He gave them a shrug. “Do you think I’d take the slightest chance with Seychelle? She’s in the clubhouse with Anya. The two of them are waiting for us with Soleil and Scarlet.” Soleil was married to Ice and Scarlet to Absinthe. Anya was Reaper’s wife.

“Player?” Czar asked. “Where’s Zyah?”

“At the house with her grandmother. I’ve asked some of the members of our Trinity chapter to watch them while I’m here.”

Czar nodded. “Then let’s get down to business. We’ve identified one of the elusive Ghosts finally. His name is Walker Thompson, and his daddy, along with a good number of others, owns a string of casinos. Thompson and three of his friends he went to school with, all from very wealthy families, all with parents as part of the conglomerate owning the casinos, decided to do a little branching out on their own. Code can tell you more.”

Master admired the way Code could handle a computer. Even as a kid, he’d had a gift for the machines. Data just seemed to flow from them straight into his brain. He was just shy of six feet, without an ounce of fat, closely cropped dark blond hair, whiskey-colored eyes, more scruff than a beard and a barely there mustache. Master wasn’t positive he actually slept. He’d never witnessed it.

“Thompson and his friends are into everything. You know they’re after the MCs, but I discovered they’ve got a hell of a human trafficking ring started. I bleed off Thompson’s money and he goes after more girls,” Code reported to the members of Torpedo Ink.

Master looked around the big oval-shaped table in the large meeting room, at the grim faces that told him they all felt the same way he did about Walker Thompson.

“I just intercepted this prick’s latest plot. He’s decided to marry this woman.” Code tossed a set of pictures on the table.

The high-resolution glossies were passed around, so everyone got one. The woman was beautiful. She looked for all the world like a fairy princess: small, lots of curves, hair that was thick and wild and all over the place. Her eyes were large, framed with dark lashes, the color of her hair. That only served to emphasize the unusual color of her eyes. She had what appeared to be blue-violet eyes, but no one really had that color, did they? Her mouth was generous, just like her hips and breasts.
