Why am I annoyed?

My brain catches up, and I realize I have Remy—Remy for fuck’s sake—damn near pinned against the bathroom wall as he pets me. It feels wrong and twisted. A ragged breath tears through my lungs. I grip his wrist, stopping him from going any lower.

Because…

Would he try? Would I want him to?

Ignoring that ridiculous train of thought, I pluck his hand from my body and draw it up, set on giving him his communicators back. But rather than release him, my wolf makes an appearance, claws poking from my fingers and biting into his young skin. The scent of his blood has all my nerve endings sparkling to life. I’m no longer in control as the wolf begs to escape, practically whines for it. I barely keep him leashed. He still manages to bring Remy’s palm to my nose. Greedily, I inhale his scent—the coppery blood mixed with his usual earthy musk.

I close my eyes, refraining from dragging my tongue along his bloody flesh. The desire to memorize not only his scent, but his taste too, is almost maddening. Finally, I manage to harness my self-control and drop his hand. I take a staggering step back, needing space like I need my next breath. Like a fool, I let my guard down. My wolf wins for a second. That’s all it takes for me to drag my stare down his chest to the way his cock strains in his pants.

While I’m stunned and slightly horrified, my wolf is pleased.

“I need to shower,” I bite out, my words cruel and harsh.

Remy jolts at my words, the trance broken between us. As soon as he realizes the state of his dick, his cheeks flame red hot. An inappropriate thought tramples through my mind having me wonder if his chest and abs are as red.

“Please,” I choke out. “I need a minute. It’s been a long day.”

He stumbles out of the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Though he’s gone, I can still smell him. The scent of leaves and cold, salty morning rain cling to me. I stumble to the shower, eager to wash away the scent. With my hands shaking so badly, it takes a couple of tries to get the shower started. I don’t bother with the hot dial and turn it as cold as it will go. The rest of my clothes are shed faster than humanly possible and then I’m climbing inside, desperate to cool the fires raging inside me.

It’s then I realize, despite the ice spray I force myself under, my dick is hard as stone, twitching with the incredible need to come. I grip it, jerking it with ferocity. I’m an idiot. A sick fuck. Unstable. Shame has me cutting myself off from my entire pack as I allow a tiny glimpse from earlier to creep into my mind.

Chocolate eyes.

Dark hair.

Pouty lips.

I’m going to hell.

I come with a growl loud enough to rattle the walls, shooting my seed all over the tile. And then I gag because it’s so fucked up.

He’s my…

It’s Remy.

He’s…

Mine. Mine. Mine.

Slamming my fist into the wall, I let out a roar of frustration and disgust at myself. I beat the fuck out of Finnick because he playfully joked about taking one for the team. Said he’d have sex with Remy. My Remy. I’d heard him. Heard the words clear as day. Not a feeling or a sensation.

Words.

I don’t know what it means, and I’ll be damned if I reveal that to them just yet. The last thing my pack needs to know is I can hear their thoughts. It feels like a violation.

Though nothing could be worse than what just went down with Remy.

Fuck.

After Remy’s birthday dinner, where I carefully avoided everyone’s stares, I took my sorry ass outside to brood. It only takes a few minutes before Judd joins me. He’s my right-hand man. My best friend. The one who offers me a voice of reason when I need it. Of course he’d be the one to come see me.

“Want to talk about it?” he asks, his voice low as he hands me a beer.

I stare into the dark forest, my ears perked and alert for any unusual sounds. “Not really.”

“Hmm.” He takes a swig of his beer and then lets out a sigh. “Well, too bad, man. You’ve been acting a little fucking nuts for the past two days. I don’t know exactly what happened with the kid because he refuses to speak of it and shuts us out any chance he gets, but something did. Based on the bandage he’s sporting on his arm and the bruise on his neck, I’d say you lost your shit on him just like you did Finnick.”

Tension seizes my back, locking me stiff as I buzz with fury at hearing Finnick’s name.
