“What?” she asked.

“You’re cute when you’re nervous.”

She rolled her eyes.

“And when you’re being cheeky. So, now that we’ve confirmed that both of us are virgins, what do you think about … you know, kissing?”

“I think I like the idea of kissing very much.”

“Ah, you do, because all day I have thought about those lips and now, I really need to kiss them.”

She took a breath. “Then kiss me.”

Joe didn’t hesitate.

He closed the distance between them, and then his lips were on hers, and fire erupted all around her. She couldn’t make it stop, nor did she want to. All she craved was his lips on hers, and for him to not stop.

It was like an obsession. She had her hands on his arms, and she moved them around, going down his back, and then toward his ass, but she stopped herself.

Joe gave a little growl. “You can grab my ass all day long,” he said. He took hold of her arms and made it so they moved down to hold his ass. “Because I’m going to hold you, and I hope you don’t have a problem with that.”

His hands went straight to her ass, and she couldn’t help but moan. It felt so good having him touch her. She didn’t want him to stop, even for a second. The hard ridge of his cock pressed against her stomach, and she tilted her head back to look at him.

“You’re beautiful, you know that?” he asked.

She shook her head. “I … no, I didn’t.”

“I bet you don’t even know how many times I thought about you, do you?”

“You thought about me?”

“All the time. I wondered if you were mated, if you had found someone, but then I would think about you waiting for me. I had no idea it was because you were my mate.”

“I had no idea,” she said.

He chuckled. “Even while I was growing up.”

“What?”

“Yeah, you were the woman I fantasized about,” he said.

“You’ve got to be making this up. There’s no way any of this is true.”

Joe smiled. “I’ve got no reason to lie, and I’m not lying now. I’m telling you the truth. I’d never lie to you, Darcy.”

She saw the sincerity in his eyes, the kindness, and she just knew he was speaking the truth.

“I’ll never lie to you,” she said.

“Did you think about me?” Joe asked.

Darcy groaned. “Please, don’t make me feel bad.”

He started to laugh.

“Come on, you’re younger than me, and I never thought about you in that way. When I saw you, I hoped you were happy. You were always so polite and sweet, and I only wanted the best for you.” She sighed. “When you did turn of age and you went through your transition, I wondered how you were handling it.”

“You did?”

“Yeah, of course. I’ve been through it myself and trust me, it sucked. Big time.”

“Yeah, it sucked,” he said.

“How was it for you? I mean, apart from sucking.”

“It was awful,” Joe said. “It was so bad that I didn’t want to turn again.”

She cupped his face. “It’s like that for everyone.”

He shook his head. “No, it’s not. My friends, Ryan and Wade, didn’t feel any pain.”

Darcy frowned. “What?”

“They said it was the best feeling in the world, and they couldn’t wait to do it again.”

“You didn’t hear that they were screaming and begging for their mothers?” Darcy asked.

He tensed up. This time, he said it. “What?”

Darcy chuckled. “Yeah, they were begging for their mothers. They struggled all night. Once it was over, they took off into the woods, and enjoyed that part. But the whole new experience thing was too much for them. I think your dad was called or something like that.”

“I had no idea. They told me it was awesome.”

“After the whole transition, that might have been the awesome part, but no one loves their first time, Joe. It’s hard and it’s painful.”

He still hadn’t let her go, and she loved how good it felt to have his arms around her, and of course on her ass. Joe was still aroused, and she happened to like that as well.

“I had no idea. It was one of the reasons I left,” Joe said.

“Why?”

“Because I thought I needed to be able to handle it better. I cried. It hurt like hell. Worse than hell. I didn’t think it would ever be over.”

“Joe, everyone cries their first time. You should ask your dad. I know he’s been called to some new transitioners to help guide them.”

“Why?” Joe asked. “Why are we like this?”

“Because it’s new. You know, it’s your body breaking as you accept the call of your wolf and the full moon. Once you embrace it and your wolf, it’s a magical thing, but you’ve got to get to that stage to start with. Some people don’t.” She shrugged.

“I’m so pleased I came back home.”
