“You will apologize to my mother in law and my wife or you will never be allowed through these doors again. There is no excuse for your behavior have you gone mad? Elise this is a lovely meal, I haven’t had better and I’ve been to the Caribbean many times.”

Old snagglepuss had left in a huff and I haven’t seen or heard from her since. That was two months ago. Now I have a new problem.

Chance has been ignoring me here lately. He brought me to New York to stay in one of his many dwellings because he was working on some deal. He promised we’d go to a show on Broadway, go shopping on fifth Ave. All those things that a girl who now has some money would love to do.

In the last few months we’ve been all over the place. My favorite is the apartment in Paris. That is one fuck awesome city. But as I was saying, he’s been ignoring me way too often. I remember asking him in the beginning if this shit was gonna happen and he said no. Well then!

“Where is my wife?” I loosened my tie and poured myself a glass of water from the tray on my desk. The meeting I’d just left had been in the works for a long time and had taken me away from the rest of my life for way too long. I felt like I was now coming up for air.

“Sir, she’s in Paris, shopping.” This fucking girl. I rubbed the strain between my eyes and felt a headache coming on. It never fails. Not a week goes by that I don’t get a migraine from my darling little sweetheart.

“Bring her home.”

“Uh sir, I told her what you said and she said she’ll be home when she’s ready.” I hung up the phone and headed for the door. I could tell him to do whatever it takes to get her back here but then he might have to put hands on her and then I’d have to kill him. He’s one of the best in the business so that would be a crying shame.

“Henry, call in a flight plan.” I called my pilot on the way to the elevator and rearranged some things in my head. I hadn’t planned on making any out of town trips and thank fuck that meeting was behind me or she would be putting me in a bind.

“Where to sir?”

“Paris.”

“On it.” I gave some thought to running by the apartment and packing an overnight bag but that would take too much time and it was already getting late in the day. I tried calling her but the call went right to voicemail.

I had no doubt that she’d seen my damn name and hit ignore, she can be a bit pissy. I guess I’ll have to wait until I’d run her to ground to find out what it was that I’d done to set her off this time. I’ll say one thing for her; there’s never a dull moment.

I landed in Paris seven- hours later and headed to the penthouse suite we owned. It was three o’clock in the morning, her ass better be there. I had a drink in the back of the limo on the way through the quiet streets of one of the world’s liveliest cities.

Now that I was here I wasn’t as panicked anymore. I hate having her that far away from me and she knows it. I’m pretty sure that’s why she did it.

“Goodnight sir, will you be needing the car in the morning?”

“Not sure yet what did the lady have planned?” Poor Jarvis looked like he’d been through it already and she’d only been here a day.

“She didn’t say sir, but if it’s anything like today, put your walking shoes on.” I clapped his shoulder in sympathy and headed for the door where the doorman was waiting with the doors open.

Jarvis was one of our drivers. Ex special ops and mean as a snake, but not when it comes to my wife. She’s the only one I’ve ever seen make him back down.

The other man on her team is Lassiter, another ex-special ops guy who was her shadow everywhere she went. I’d got her-her own security detail of course because I worried when she was out of my sight.

The two of them must’ve been catching their ass when she sprung this trip on them. We usually gave them advance notice when we were taking a trip like this, but I’m sure after half a year of her shit they knew to think on their feet.

I passed the door to the rooms where they usually set up when we were here and headed down the hall to our suite. I saw her million and one bags thrown over the chairs. Her shoes were in the middle of the room and there was a trail of clothes leading into the bedroom.
