Five Years Later
"Shh," I whisper, holding my finger to my lips as my daughter and I stand outside of Jude's window at the clubhouse, preparing to sneak in. He's been in Houston, signing contracts with a nonprofit a former client opened. Five years ago, Betty was charged with attempted murder for shooting her abusive boyfriend. Jude got her off on the charges and her life really turned around. She now runs a nonprofit that helps domestic violence victims find legal representation. Jude's law firm just signed on to represent her clients pro-bono. I'm so freaking proud of him.
Then again, I'm always proud of him. My husband is one of the most amazing men I know. He's selfless and caring and will do whatever it takes to help those who need it. I love him more and more every damn day.
"Shh," Dylan whispers back, giggling.
I fight a smile, shaking my head. She's terrible at sneaking. Then again, she's only four. To her, everything is an adventure meant to be undertaken at top volume. I love seeing the world through her eyes. It's so different than the world I grew up in, and I love that for her and her little brothers. They've never spent a single day knowing fear or what it's like to be locked away from the world.
Jude would never allow that. He is our most fierce protector and our most devoted line of defense. Nothing harms us. Nothing even gets close. I know there have been scares over the years. But he never lets them touch me or our babies. He never lets me stress or worry over them. He just handles them.
I appreciate that so much. I appreciate him so much. My life is a fairytale because of him. I slipped into his bed and found that it fit me just right. He fit me just right. He's fit me just right every day since. My grumpy daddy bear is my world, and I'm his. I'm as obsessed with him as ever. I don't have to ask to know he feels the same. He shows me that every day.
When the kids go down at night, my beastly daddy comes out to play. He's as unruly as ever, unable to keep his hands off me. He fucks me like he can't stop, sometimes over and over again. And when I can't take anymore, he gets to have his fun. He pampers and spoils me like a true princess. In those moments, I'm the most cherished little princess in the world. And he's the most satisfied daddy on the planet.
We have to tone it down around the kids, but even then, he always makes a point to take care of me. He makes sure I know that I'm his little princess. Most days, I eat on his lap. He carries me around, cooks for me, and spoils me rotten. Not a day goes by when he doesn't take time to hold me and our babies. We are so loved.
I think most of his brothers know about the dynamics of our relationship at this point, but no one judges us. They simply accept us for who we are. The wives do too. Truthfully, I think a few of the brothers are a little kinky too. Women talk! I know way more about their sex lives than I ever needed to know. But I love them all so much! They are the sisters I never had.
Dimitri is married now too. His wife is amazing. I adore her so much. She's shy and sweet and perfect for Dimitri. He treats her like a queen. I love seeing him so happy. It's all I've ever wanted for him. Even Uncle Dante and Constantine found love in Silver Spoon Falls. I never thought I'd see the day my uncle fell in love, but he fell like a ton of bricks.
Life looks a lot different now than it did five years ago. It's bigger, brighter, and so much fuller. I love every moment of it. Especially the ones when my family is all together. Nothing makes me happier than having all the people I love in the same place.
"Are we going in, mommy?" Dylan asks, tugging on the hem of my shirt.
"Yep," I whisper. "But you have to be quiet as a mouse so we don't wake him up or we'll ruin the surprise, remember?"
"I a'member," she says, rolling her little blue eyes like I'm annoying her. I swear she does not get that from me. Jude says she does, but I think he's crazy. She lifts her little arms, impatient for me to pick her up to help her climb through the window.
