He wrapped his arms around her, and squeezed while she fell apart in his arms. All the pent up emotions were flying away, like Rook. Pouring out, like the love of Persia for Kage. They were tiptoeing around, and licking a new face. Emerging, and falling apart, and falling in love, like kittens. All of these feelings were the river running wild, alive with fish and mystery. The wind in their ears as they moved through the darkness, the cool chill that nipped the air, and the big, strong, tattooed arms of a man from the woods who listened to dark country music, drank dark liquor, and told dark tales. He made her heart sing, her toes curl, and her world finally make sense. He was pure chaos in the flesh, and yet somehow, at the same time, he was her peace.

“Come on, let’s head back.” He strapped on his duffle bag, slipped his rifle over his body, and took her hand. When they reached his house, he unlocked the door and turned off the alarm. She entered behind him, and it smelled so good from the aromas of their dinner lingering in the air. He closed and locked the door behind her, then set the alarm back.

“I’m going to the bathroom,” she announced as she slipped out of her shoes, placing them by the front door.

“Feel free. I’m gonna wash my hands and get us somethin’ to drink. You wanna watch a movie?”

“Sure.”

As he headed to the kitchen, she went down the hall to the half bathroom to freshen up. She looked herself in the mirror and shook her head, smiling at herself. Poet, you’ve got it bad for this man… God help you. She quietly giggled, then dug in her purse. She sent her Aunt Huni a quick text message. While she waited for a response, she washed her hands, splashed a bit of water on her face, and combed her hair back in place. Her phone rang. She picked it up and answered.

“Everything okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine, Poet. Not a baby. JoAnn and I are playing cards. She ordered us a pizza. Have fun! Don’t worry about me.”

JoAnn was a nurse and associate that Poet called on occasion to spend time with Aunt Huni, especially if she was away at night.

“Okay. I’m about to watch a movie with Kage.”

“Is it a dirty movie?”

“Goodbye, Aunt Huni!” Poet laughed and disconnected the call.

She looked at herself in the mirror once more. Tucking her hair behind one ear, she studied herself closely. Her eyes… her nose… her lips… She reached for her shirt and slipped it off. Then, her jeans. She removed everything, except for her underwear, and stood there in her purple bra and panties, evaluating herself. She raised her arm and sniffed under it. Okay, my deodorant hasn’t failed me. Good. Turning the water back on, she grabbed a wad of toilet paper, wet it, and shoved her hand in her panties, gently washing her pussy. She tossed the wad of tissue in the toilet, then flushed it. Switching off the bathroom light, she walked out, slowly creeping down the hall.

The house was exceptionally dark now, with only the glow of the living room fire and the television screen providing illumination. She saw the back of Kage as he sat on the couch, facing the big screen mounted on the wall. She stood there, just taking in how massive and tall this man was. His long arm was outstretched along the couch’s back, and he held a bottle of beer in his other hand. His jacket and shirt were off. He sat in a white tank top, the tapestry of his tattooed flesh on full display.

“You gonna keep standin’ there or come watch some shit called ‘Mother of the Bride’ with me? My mama said it was a good date night movie—otherwise I woulda put on Chucky or some shit. I’m tryna be romantic here. Toss me a bone.”

She laughed at that, and began walking towards him. When she reached him, his eyes met hers. He slowly looked her up and down, from her head to her feet. Then her feet up to her face. His legs were stretched far apart, wide open, and he held on to his beer for a good long while. Bringing the bottle slowly to his mouth, he took a swig.

She wiggled out of the straps of her bra, letting her breasts spill free. He looked at them, and slowly licked his lips. Leaning forward, he picked up the remote control and turned the television off, then stood. All six feet and seven inches of him. He stretched, then placed his hands casually on his hips as they stared at one another. No talk, no noise, with the exception of the flickering flames.

Then, suddenly, he thundered towards her. Seizing her hand, he snatched her away from the spot she was rooted in and dragged her toward the stairs…
