Before Liv can reply, he hangs up.

“So, I guess we’re moving forward with the bachelorette party on Friday,” I say with a grin. “Which is good because we’re going to dance our asses off, drink like it’s free, and have the time of our lives. You need to let loose.”

“Oh, I can’t get drunk. I have too much to do.”

“Bullshit.” I grin at her as I hear footsteps running down the hallway. “Your knight in shining armor is here.”

The door bursts open, and a feral-looking Vaughn scans the room. Good God, the man is beautiful. There’s a reason why he’s the hottest man in Hollywood. And when he’s like this? Well, it’s enough to make my ovaries sit up and do the happy dance.

His eyes stop scanning when he gets to Olivia.

“The wedding is absolutely not off,” he says as he stalks to her, pulls her to her feet, and proceeds to kiss the hell out of her.

I stand and reach for my purse, but neither of them is paying any attention to me.

“Okay, well, I’m glad I could help. I hope you have a great day.”

No reaction. Just lots of sloppy kisses.

“Okay, bye.”

I wave and walk out the door, then close it behind me so they have privacy. I hit the button for the elevator, and the doors open, surprising me when I find Stella staring back at me.

“Crisis averted.”

“Thank God.” She presses her hand to her chest and leans back on the wall of the elevator. “I’ll go see if she needs anything.”

“She doesn’t.” I make her stay in the elevator with me and grin. “Vaughn just arrived, and they’re making out pretty hardcore. Clothes might be gone by now.”

“Ew.” Stella scrunches up her nose. “I guess I didn’t have to speed all the way from Olympia to get here. Liv’s been a wreck lately.”

“Yeah, that’s what I gathered. The days of her doing everything by herself, aside from what Aunt Alecia has been able to do, are over. We’ll help her.”

“We’ll make her let us help,” Stella agrees with a firm nod. “Every time I ask, she just blows me off. No more.”

“She seems to think she can’t get drunk Friday night.”

Stella smirks. “Challenge accepted.”

“That’s what I thought. Well, now that your day has been interrupted, what are your plans?”

“You know, I think I’ll go to my own fiancé’s office and see if I can steal him away for a while. Get some naked time in of my own.”

“I can’t believe you’re engaged, too. Have you set a date?”

“Nah, probably sometime next year. I want to enjoy this time, you know? Besides, Liv’s getting married next month, and Josie recently eloped. Maddie will probably end up engaged to Dylan before long.”

“I like him,” I add with a smile as we walk out into the spring sunshine. “I can’t believe she met him on an airplane on the way to Iceland, which is something out of a Hallmark movie.”

“I do, too. I guess the point is, it’s a lot for the family right now, and I’m not really in a hurry. Maybe we’ll aim for the fall… when the trees are turning.”

“That would be beautiful.”

Stella takes a deep breath, tips her face up to the sunshine, and then smiles at me.

“Yeah, it would, wouldn’t it? I’ll talk to Gray about it.”

“Speaking of liking guys, Stel, I really like your Gray. He suits you. I’ve never seen you so confident or just so content. And it makes me so happy for you.”

“Thanks. I am happy. Sometimes I wonder if things are too good, you know? How are things with Ike?”

The smile on my face must tell her everything she needs to know because she cackles and then wraps her arms around me in a big hug.

“Hell yes, girl. I’m so damn excited for you. He’s hot as can be, and he seems so nice.”

“He’s all of that. And he’s just really…great. I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Like, things are just too good.”

“Don’t be a Debbie Downer,” she says. “And I’ll try to follow the same advice. What’s that you always say? Positive vibes only?”

“I didn’t know that you watched my stuff.”

Stella digs her keys out of her bag. “We all do, babe. We’re fucking proud of you. Now, go find your football player for some naked time of your own.”

“Good idea. See you Friday.”

“Wear something you don’t mind ruining,” she suggests. “I have a feeling it’s going to get out of control.”

“Promises, promises.”

Stella laughs and waves as she walks away.

Rather than drive home, I call Ike.

“Hey, beautiful.”

“Hi yourself. Are you all finished with your meetings?”

“Actually, I am. What are you up to?”

“I was thinking about going home, taking a shower, and then waiting in my bed, naked, for you to get there.”

There’s the slightest pause. “Number one, I’m glad you’re not on speakerphone. Number two, you won’t be waiting long.”
