“Do not speak of him that way or you will have a problem,” I warned. Mason merely rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to some papers in front of him.

I carried Skyler into the elevator, where we lifted to the fourteenth floor. I opened the door to the same room as before, and settled my mate onto the mattress within. Once I removed his shoes, I kicked mine off as well and laid down beside him. I kissed his forehead and he scooted closer to me. Even in sleep, he was drawn to me.

I studied his beautiful face as I thought of ways to woo him. Soon, sleep overtook me, and I was surrounded by dreams of my perfect mate.

Chapter Six

Skyler

A soft presence caressed my cheek, and I opened my eyes to find Viggo gazing back at me with a gentle smile.

“Good morning, beloved.”

“Good morning,” I replied groggily. Where are we? Still at Remy’s place? I looked around to find a familiar room; we were back at The Walton. It made sense, because we were charged for a second night, but I didn’t remember the trip back. I joked, “I really need to stop waking up here.”

Viggo's face fell. “I'm sorry I brought you here. I didn't know where else to go; my home is gone and I wasn't sure how to get to yours.”

Guilt trickled over me. “Don't be sorry; I was only teasing. I like it here.”

“I'm glad you're not upset with me.”

“Of course not. But how did we get here? Did Remy drive us?”

He shook his head. “I carried you while you slept.”

“On foot? That was like forty miles! How long did it take you? Aren't you exhausted?”

“About twenty minutes,” he shrugged.

“Holy shit! That's like…” Damn math. I wasn't sure how many miles per hour that was, but I was positive it was, “Fast.”

He nodded and replied, “I feel fine. I have high stamina and also got some rest overnight.”

“Damn. I remember back in high school gym class I had to run a mile and thought I was going to die.” Viggo's eyes widened and I flapped my hand. “Not literally; I'm being dramatic. I just meant I'm not very athletic. I can't imagine hoofing it forty miles.”

“Don't worry, beloved; I will always carry you on long distance journeys unless we take your car. I do like riding in it. Plus, it is less conspicuous if other people are around.”

“I'm happy to drive you.” It was the least I could do after the man hefted me across towns. Plus, I loved his company. I usually had to drive alone, but I enjoyed having Viggo by my side, and his fascination with everything around him. It was cute watching him marvel over things I took for granted.

“What time is it?” I patted around the mattress until I found my phone which had fallen out of my pocket. “It's almost eleven.”

“That is why I woke you; it’s nearly check out time and I wasn't sure if you'd want to stay here again.”

A pang of guilt and sadness shot through me. I'd made promises of fucking Viggo all over this room and I'd had intentions of fulfilling them. Still, I couldn't deny that I was missing my own bed in my own place, even if there wasn't much to miss.

“I think I'd like to go home tonight if that's okay with you.”

“I can't wait to see your place.”

“I just hope you're not disappointed. It's a small, older apartment, but it's mine, you know?”

“I'm sure I will love it, because I will share it with you.”

Viggo's words hit me like a freight train. Of course he would be living with me; his home was sold off. But it was more than not having anywhere else to go. This man was devoted to me. Forever. Two days ago, I couldn't get a man to commit to a date. Now I had a partner for the rest of time.

It was a lot to process, but in a good way. I knew what it meant to bring him into my home, just as I knew what it would mean when we made love. My heart skipped a beat; I'd never thought of the act as anything except ‘fucking’ or ‘sex’, but those words didn't fit with Viggo. It was different. He was different. I understood exactly what the big step meant, and also that I was ready to take it.

Before I could relay my thoughts to Viggo, he ran his fingers through my blue locks and looked into my eyes. “Today, I want to do anything and everything you wish. I want to experience your favorite things with you. Today and every day is all about you. I want to show the whole world how I feel about you, and how lucky I am to have you by my side.”
