Her eyes well, and it’s my undoing. I tug her to me and wrap my arms around her, needing to be closer to her. Needing to show her how amazing she is.

I hate that the little girl who Harper was went through so much life feeling unloved. That for even one minute, she felt like no one loved her. She’s so damn strong all the time, putting on a brave face and walking through life with self-confidence that it’s easy to forget everything that she’s been through.

“I love you, Harper. And I will say those words often until you finally trust them. I’ll say it enough for both of us.”

She sniffs and leans her head back to look up at me.

“I didn’t plan on you,” she says.

“Baby, I never thought I’d even consider a long-term relationship with anyone. Ever. And now I can’t imagine my life without you in it. I knew you were mine the second I saw you walk onto that plane.”

She smiles and wipes a tear off her cheek. “You were so sexy.”

“Oh? Tell me more.”

She huffs out a laugh and drags her fingers over my cheek and down my neck. “Now I’m just inflating your ego.”

“I don’t even have an ego to inflate.”

She laughs and kisses my chin. “I hate to break it to you, but you do. A big ego.”

“Yeah? What else is big, sugar?”

She snorts, and I push against her, my cock already hard, pressing into her belly.

“You have a big heart.”

I shift her up and press the crown of my dick at her entrance, then slip right inside, and she lets out the sexiest little gasp as I fill her up.

“Anything else?”

“You have a huge cock.”

“Mm, that’s what I wanted to hear.”

She rolls over me and starts to ride me. My hands span over her waist and hips, helping her find a rhythm, and she shivers, hitting just the right spot.

“You love this huge cock, don’t you?”

“Hell yes, I do.”

“Christ, you’re amazing.” I sit up and glide my hands down to her ass, lifting her up and down on my shaft. “You’re mine, Harper. Do you understand?”

She bites my lip and then nods. “And you’re mine, Blake.”

There is nothing more adorable than Harper waking up in the morning. She wakes slowly. First, her legs start to move, stretching out. Then she wiggles her fingers and toes.

She still hasn’t opened her eyes.

She lets out a little squeak as she stretches her arms above her head, and then one eye slits open to take in her surroundings.

“Good morning, baby.”

I kiss her cheek, and she hums. No words for my girl yet.

“Did you sleep well?”

She nods and then curls into me, clinging to me.

So I kiss her head and breathe her in.

“I’m going to run down and get us coffee.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Her hands find my torso, and she scowls. “Dressed.”

“Yep. I can’t go to the coffee shop naked, baby.”

She lets out a long breath and blinks both eyes open. “Thank you.”

“For what?”

“The coffee.” She kisses my chin before burying herself back under the blankets.

I grab my wallet and room key, and leave our room, making sure the door is secure behind me. Not that anything could possibly hurt her here.

I hear another door open and look up to see Brooks headed my way. If I’m not mistaken, he looks like he might crack a smile.

This resort has been good for all of us.

“Coffee?” I ask him.

“Hell yes,” he replies.

We walk shoulder to shoulder down the hallway to the stairs that lead to the first floor.

“I like Harper,” he says.

“I do, too.”

“Her family seems nice. Her brother, Xander, is a hockey player. We talked about hockey all damn night.” Brooks is a big hockey fan. Always has been. “And it’s good to see Tucker and Remington. Holden.”

“So you’re glad you came.”

“Yeah. It’s cool.”

I smile over at him. “I think Ava’s single—”

“No.”

I laugh as we descend the stairs.

“She’s beautiful”—I’m ticking the list off on my fingers—“has a career, comes from a good family, seems to like her hair pulled—”

“Shut up,” Brooks says, shaking his head. “You’re ridiculous.”

With a laugh, we turn the corner to the lobby, and both stop dead in our tracks.

Because just ahead, at the coffee shop where there’s a cooler for grab-and-go meals, is a woman bent over that cooler, filling it with to-go boxes.

Brooks would recognize that ass anywhere.

Juliet straightens to grab more boxes from her cart, and when her eyes shift over to us, she also stops, and tears fill her pretty blue eyes.

She clears her throat.

“Hi, guys. Um, I’m just about done here. I can go—”

“You’re good at that,” Brooks finally says, and I close my eyes on a sigh.

“What?” Her eyebrows pull together in a frown.

“Running away,” he says. His voice is so hard and cold, and I hear the hurt in it. I fucking hate this. “You’re good at that.”
