“C’mon, baby. Let’s get Talon back to your dad’s place before everyone comes running to find out what’s wrong,” Kace suggested. “He’s got one hell of a set of lungs on him, and you know how impatient he gets when he’s hungry.”

“Yeah, he’s a chip off the old block when it comes to getting to my—”

Kace gently pressed his hand over Larissa’s mouth, and I giggled. Since she was breastfeeding, I knew she was going to make a sassy comment about her boobs. So had her dad, who looked less than thrilled by the possible mention of her sex life. Even though his daughter was married with a baby of her own, Link liked to pretend that she and Kace never had sex and his grandson was a product of immaculate conception. It cracked me up because he got super irritated when my brother acted the same way about me. The two most important men in my life had a lot in common, even if Huntley didn’t want to admit it. My brother had given us his blessing—and had somehow gotten leave to fly into town and give me away when we got married—but they’d never be best friends. Neither would Link and his daughter’s husband.

Link glared at Kace while he got up, settled Harrison in my arms, and kissed Larissa and Talon goodbye. Not even five minutes after they left, Cat and a bunch of the guys came in to meet Harrison, who was back in Link’s arms. I scanned the crowd and noticed someone was missing. “Where’s Dom?” He was the Silver Saint I was closest to—other than Link, obviously. I liked to spend time in the garage, and he worked on his bike out there a lot. I’d expected him to be one of the first through the door with Cat.

My childhood neighbor ignored my question as she made a beeline to the baby, but Scout stopped to kiss my cheek and answered, “You know how much he wanted to be here, pinkie. But he had some shit go down while you were in labor, and I’m not sure how quickly he’s going to be able to wrap it up.”

He’d been excited about Harrison’s birth, so it had to be something serious to keep him away from the hospital. “What happened?”

Scout gently chucked me under the chin and shook his head. “That’s his story to tell.”
