The mood lightened significantly as we made our way downstairs to the theater.

We still hadn’t decided on a movie to watch when she said, “Sneak up behind me and try to attack me.”

“Are you serious?”

“You said you wanted me to use my moves on you, right?”

“Yeah, but I didn’t think you wanted me to do that.”

“It’s no fun otherwise.” She walked to the corner of the room where we kept some old movies on a shelf. “I’m going to pretend I’m browsing through these DVDs. I’ll be the unsuspecting victim.”

I didn’t even know where to start. After several seconds, I forced myself to pull the trigger. Adrenaline pumped through me as I rushed toward her and grabbed her from behind, looping my arms under hers.

Raven stepped back toward me and twisted her body around. Before I knew it, she had me pinned down. She straddled me and locked my legs in.

Okay, so I wasn’t exactly fighting it. But she’d rendered me completely immobile. My dick swelled. I’d never been so turned on in my life.

She’d knocked me on my ass both literally and figuratively, and I never wanted to get up. Ever.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

RAVEN

Later that night, I retreated to the guest room. Well, I should say, Gavin ordered me to the guest room, announcing that he couldn’t keep his hands off me any longer. He’d reached the end of the line when it came to resistance for the night.

Some time after we separated, I broke out into giddy laughter as “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones blasted from his room.

Long after the music stopped, as I lay alone in bed, I wondered what I was trying to prove. Did I want to keep being good? For what?

What am I doing?

The guy of my dreams was horny and ready for me, and I’d locked myself away in the next room. Why? Because I was scared to get hurt. At this point, wasn’t it too late to protect my heart? I was already in so deep with him, whether we ended up having sex or not.

I wanted him so badly. All of the touching and kissing today had done me in. At the very least, I wanted to lie next to him tonight.

Shoving my zillion-thread-count sheets to the side, I hopped up and walked down the hall to Gavin’s room.

Maybe he’d fallen asleep. I knocked lightly on the door.

A few seconds later, he opened, looking surprised to see me.

He’d never looked hotter. His hair was rustled into a beautiful mess, and his chest was bare. My eyes took a little trip down the thin line of hair at the base of his abs. His gray sweatpants hung low on his waist, displaying his carved V. He was hard.

Clearing my throat, I said, “I don’t think I want to be alone tonight.”

He looked beyond my shoulders, then down the hall, before he whispered, “You can’t be here.”

My heart fell. “Why not?”

“My mother is sleeping in the next room. If she finds out, she’ll kill us both.”

My eyes widened as it hit me what he was doing. I decided to play along.

“You know what? You’re right. I was thinking we could risk it, but it’s a bad idea. I’ll go back to my room.” I turned and began to walk away.

“Wait,” he whispered, as if someone could potentially hear us.

“We just have to be really quiet. Can you do that, Raven?”

“I don’t want to get you in trouble. I’d better go back to my room.”

“Don’t,” he said loudly

He definitely would’ve woken up his fictional mother.

“I want to risk it,” he added.

Looking down the hall for effect, I spoke under my breath. “Okay. Like you said, we’ll just have to be quiet.”

He gestured for me to enter. “Come in.”

My heart raced. I’d been in his room countless times before, mostly to change the sheets or put clean laundry in the drawers. It felt surreal to be here in a different capacity—as his girl.

Gavin got into bed and pulled back the blanket to make room for me. He patted the mattress. “I promise I won’t bite. We’ll just lie here.”

We lay facing each other. When I looked into his eyes, there was a hint of vulnerability there; I wasn’t alone in my trepidation. That helped calm me down just a little.

He rested his cheek on his hand. “I can’t believe you’re in my bed.”

“You and me both.”

“You were scared to come in here, weren’t you?”

I nodded. “Not so much anymore, though.”

“You know I’d never pressure you to do anything you don’t want to do, right?”

“Our night at the beach was so amazing. I’ve replayed it in my head so many times. I wanted more that night, too. I’m just scared.”

He placed a piece of my hair behind my ear. “I know. I’m a little scared, too.”
