“Wow”

“When are you getting married?”

“I don’t know.”

“Now is the perfect time, it’s summer, what is your color scheme your favorite flower?”

“I don’t have any favorite flowers.”

“Color than.”

“I do love purple.”

“Oh, orchids are a wonderful flower they love humid conditions and last really well and with the days heating up.”

“What colors do they come in?”

“Oh, you can get orchids in every color of the rainbow varying shades from whites to pastels, they're a perfect wedding flower or maybe roses you could have them tinted to the color you want and they smell amazing, but the heat can affect them Oriental lilies are another great flower mixed in with some roses maybe they're great for a beach wedding but carnations make a wonderful bouquet you could have white with a pale pink maybe add in some succulents”

“You really love flowers, huh” she smiles

“I’m sorry, I do get carried away when it comes to flowers, it is a florist’s bread and butter” I smile

“Do you want to head downtown and have a look and see what they have” I ask her

“Really”

“Sure”

“Let’s go then,” she says getting up and it’s the first time in days I’ve seen a little life in her

We head out to my car when Saint calls out “Where are you going baby?” Saint asks me

“Ella and I are going into the florist in town to look at flowers”

“Flowers” I nod

“Ok,” he pulls me to him

“I love you,” he says making me smile

“I love you too” I tell him (with all my heart)

We get in my car and head downtown to the florist just off of main. As we pull up to the little store, Ella looks up, frowning “What’s wrong?” I ask her

“It’s a bit run down” I look up at the faded sign

“It does seem old doesn’t it”

“It could be so much more, look at the location on the corner of town the building itself is amazing it has to be at least one hundred years old, and look at the displays. Such a shame, maybe we should go somewhere else,” she says

“This is the only florist in town” I tell her and she looks at me

“Really,” I nod, looking up again at the sign, the peeling paint making me rethink going in

“I could order the flowers online, I know Lilly had hers brought in from Seattle”

“Let’s see what they’ve got first before we do that, they might surprise us” she says

“Ok” we both head into the store, yeah, it wasn’t that much better inside. The doorbell rings as we enter an elderly woman comes from out the back a walking stick in her hand and she smiles

“Good morning ladies, what can I do for you?” I step forward smiling

“Yes, I was just coming to see what flowers you have, I’m getting married and,”

“Ah, marriage such a wondrous thing to join a communion of two people, what flowers do you have in mind” I look at Ella and she steps forward

“We were thinking orchids”

“Orchids” the women, says smiling “such an amazing flower such a beautiful flower any other flowers you were thinking of”

“Maybe roses”

“In this heat, they wouldn’t last too long”

“What about carnation” I ask her

“Yes, carnations are a good choice”

“What would you recommend”

“That depends on the date, time of the day you get married, I know some people just think that you pick the flowers that you see in a magazine and that’s it, we put it together and you have a bouquet, but flowers are delicate things once you pick them or cut them, they start to die fast and the weather is it hot is it a morning wedding afternoon there are many factors that go into your bouquet”

“Well, I haven’t even set a date yet,” she smiles at me

“Well, I have a large choice of flowers to choose from would you like to look at my book and then when you decide on the day and time you come back and we’ll choose your flowers” I smile at her liking the woman a lot and I hold out my hand to her

“Zoey and this is Ella, she’s a florist to,” I tell her and the woman looks at her

“Is that right,” she says and Ella smiles

“You have an amazing store location, but…”

“I know, since my husband passed away a few years ago, it’s getting harder for me to work the shop”

“Do you not have any help” Ella asks her and she shakes her head

“No, it’s just me and Sammie” we both look at each other

“Sammie” I ask her and she smiles as a little pug dog comes walking around the counter and collapses at her feet

“Ladies meet Sammie” he lifts his head up for a second than dropping back down

“Well, let’s have a look and see what flowers you have” Ella says and we head over to a table and the woman brings out a large book and we sit going through the whole thing.
